I have S7 on marshmallow and it's draining fast and my phone is getting hot. This is unacceptable. I'm going to have to uninstall. I can't let this keep happening to my phone!

@RobertoMEThis is not a complaint but a suggestion.. I notice you edited your first post in this forum 4 pages back. It would be a positive approach to have edited posts gravitate to their rightful place near the top of the queue.
Many users won't trawl through pages of a Topic to find a relevant post.
I have been guilty of cross posting because of this, and of course the suggestion is to edit an existing topic. If it's many pages back there is no gain so you tend to post again.

Phone Pixel 2XL
OS 8.1 July Security Update
App Version 2.73
Phone was running very hot and going through battery. As well as using excessive background data even though background data for the app is turned off.
Found the reason for the hot phone and battery drain is the app is causing my Big Cluster CPU 4-7 to run at full speed all the time. I know this is the case because uninstalling the app completely fixes both issues and installing and re-configuring the fitbit app after a few hours it all starts happening again

Maybe they are going back to the previous version, slowly. As I don't have an update for it on my phone.. I just opened in Google Play and am told it was updated on 11 Jun 2018 and is at version 2.73
I am using Samsung S7 on Nougat (Republic Wireless using a TextNow phone). So hopefully they are downgrading for those that are having issues with 2.74 - I had an overheating issue one day (but I assumed it was because of a game I was playing) last week sometime but no issues since.

So guys, some interesting news from me:
Yesterday I installed an older app version (2.72.1) and during the last 8 hours it consumed only 1,5 MB.
Maybe Fitbit has pulled the plug on their servers or this downgrade has solved the problem for me – I don't know.
I will observe and report.

Mine seemed to be better yesterday, but today the phone is red hot and its eating battery like there's no tomorrow.
As mentioned on the other thread about this, I'll wait til an app update is available before trying again

Just removed my app again after it was making the phone burn through battery and data
Why is there not an option to only upload data while on wifi?

Same issue here. Since last monday I got messages that fitbit is overloading CPU and draining the battery. Now I see all the posts about data usage, I see dat in June the fitibit app consumed a lot of data as well. I uninstalled the fitbit app, simply because I couldn't use my phone anymore, the battery drained fully within a few hours. After I uninstalled the app, my battery usage is back to normal.
Phone: Samsung Galaxy S7
Android vesion 8.0.0
Fitbit App version the one that was updated on june 11. (Can't see it anymore since I deleted it)

Same deal as everyone else. Fitbit app between its high CPU use and data usage while on radio has used up >70% of my battery today. I had to keep my phone on charge while at work and barely even used it, despite that it was at 3% now at 7pm. Massive fail.
If I delete the Fitbit app for now will my versa keep track of my stats until I sync again in a few days or whenever?

Using Samsung galaxy S9... notice the APP continue to run on the back ground consuming battery and allot of data.

@RobertoME how do you sync a Fitbit versa to your computer without the USB dongle? And how long does the versa store data for without syncing?
Also for what it's worth I have a ton of firewall logs of the Fitbit app on my phone accessing a bunch of Fitbit servers while my phone's connected to WiFi. If you want a copy of the logs let me know

I have uninstalled the app and haven't put it back for the past 2 days to save my battery.
This makes my Versa next to useless so they better send us an update "real quick"

@Stevotronic I have just tested the WiFi option at home setting it up as you have posted - No Dongle
It works.....

@Colinm39 hi Colin, I'm not getting you. What I'm trying to do is enable sync straight from my versa to Fitbit, whether it's via it's built in wifi or via a computer, while I have the app on my phone totally uninstalled. From the page Roberto linked to it appears that isn't possible without a dongle in the computer (which I remember I got with my original Fitbit and probably isn't even compatible with the versa)

@StevotronicApologies.. I will work backwards.. All Fitbits store 7 days of daily data and 23 days of summary data. Then the oldest day drops off.
What type of computer? Because the Dongles are only $7USD +freight at the a Fitbit store. I have notice the Fitbit authorised retailers in Australia aren't stocking them
