Fitbit Update: 6/13/2018

New version 2.73 has been fully released to all our Android users and you should be able to update your Fitbit app. We have released a fix for Message+ and Signal App notifications.

Hi, everyone!

I noticed many of you reporting that you no longer receive your Message+ notifications to your Versa/Ionic after the Fitbit OS 2.1 update.

We've escalated this issue to our team for investigation. For the meantime, I recommend using the default texting app on your Android device or any other messaging apps.

When I have more information, I'll provide that here. Thank you!

7.0 and later should be good. theoretically each messenger supporting the quick reply feature of android should work, however there seems to be a bug which prevents the notification to be shown / forwarded to the watch.

i'm pretty sure that this will be fixed soon, as the app already supports different messengers.

meanwhile: using the stock android messenger should provide the quick replies on the watch.

Yes calls and email work. I tried changing it to the stock messaging app and still no texts...so I am giving up for now. It's not worth the headache right now. Thanks

Yes I am on 7 and above. My phone call notification works and my email
notifications the only thing not working is my text messages. When I got my
Fitbit last month they told me an upgrade was coming in May and that the
upgrade was going to enhance the text message feature so I would be able to
respond to text messages on the Android as well as receive them..... not
so much!

In the Fitbit app for text messaging settings, I only see four options: Hangouts, Message+, Messages, and Messenger. Are we limited to those options or would a totally different 3rd party texting app work?

too bad. but the good thing is: after this minor bug is fixed, everything should work as expected.

Did you make sure to change the default app to receive texts in the Fitbit app as well?

Ok, so I switched to the stock Android Messages app late last night.... I am now getting text notifications but the actual text message (verbiage) doesn't appear and my only option is "clear".  And i checked; I'm on version 7.0. 😠

in my case it displays

hangouts, messaging, signal, silence, ...

the feature itself is designed generic, so that it should take whichever app you prefer, as long as it offers the quick reply on android itself:

Android-N-Quick-Reply-Beta

for some of the possible apps, they need to look at their code again, to make that click Robot wink

Same issue. I was receiving texts until update. I have tried all suggestions, resets & fixes. I receive call, email, calendar alerts with no problem but no texts.

I found a work-a-round if you still want to use Message+. I changed my default messaging app back to Message+ on my phone. Then I installed an app called "Fit Notifications." I followed the instructions on the app to set it up for text message notifications on my Versa. It seems to be working fine, and I can use the messaging app I prefer on my phone. Fit Notifications did have the default for viewing the message on your watch set to 7 seconds, but I changed it to remain on until I decide to remove it. I have only been using it a few hours, but all seems okay.

I just downloaded it as well and we will see if it works. Thank you

So I recently did the update on my fitbit versa and now my text messages are not being received by the versa. I went through the online chat and got the calls to work again. But texts still will not.

Is anyone having this issue with message+?

Supposedly the message+ app is not compatible with fitbit now? This does not make sense to me since the versa was getting all my texts before the update.
