Just got the S8+ yesterday, but my Blaze no longer receives notifications from my device. I've reset the Blaze, removed it from my account, gone through setup, restarted the phone and Blaze, uninstalled the app, and every other troubleshooting recommendation on the forums. All permissions are granted. No luck. Everything else syncs. Is this just a compatibility issue?

Same exact issue with me. This is really making me regret upgrading from the Charge 2.

Why when I attempt to connect my blaze with my new S8+ it reads connected as an input device? It also will not send notifications for text, email, calendar. I have read the threads on connecting the devices but they have not worked. Also, the bluetooth sends periodic messages saying it is not connected.

Same here, rebooted both devices around the same time, but that was something I had done a dozen times before.
Makes me think it was a server/account issue rather than anything to do with the devices.

Mine still doesn't work

The Blaze classic gets connected as an input device since it is used to control music.
Notifacations go through the Blaze bluetooth low energy connection, this connection is setup by the app not the user.
In android their are permissions needed to be given on the phone and popups need to be enabled.

What I have learned about the Blaze and the Galaxy S8 and what has to happen in order for it to actually work correctly:
Blaze (Classic) is for music control ONLY. It does NOT have to be paired that way for notifications / run tracking to work.
FitBit App WILL connect to the Blaze BUT it doesn't always show up as a paired device in Bluetooth settings, if this is what is happening to you then notificatons / run tracking WILL NOT work until it does.
Fitbit App needs to have access to SMS, Phone, Contacts, Location, and the FitBit Notification Service needs to be allowed in the Notifications settings in order for Notifications and Run Tracking to work.
My story:
Much like many many other people my FitBit Blaze would not connect via Bluetooth to my Galaxy S8. It would pair it in the app, but it would never show up in my list of paired bluetooth devices on my phone. I would randomly get errors in the fitbit app stating that an error has occured and I could cancel or restart bluetooth, neither one actually fixed the notification / run tracking issue. I tried for a solid week to get it to work. Unpaired, uninstalled, re-installed, paired etc. Nothing worked. I have read a few responses where people stated that it began working for them "all of the sudden" they weren't even trying to connect at the time, but it just worked. The commonality that I noticed for everyone on this was that they all stated their phone was on silent / and or vibrate at the time. After I removed the Blaze from Fitbit App and uninstalled the app and the re-installed and added the device back for the last time I granted all the proper permissions it asks for when you re-install and enabled notifications and just left it at that, Notifications and Run Tracking still didn't work. Two days later I put my phone on vibrate at 10am for a meeting. It remained on silent the rest of the day. At 2pm my phone vibrates and so does my Blaze so I look at my phone and it is asking me if I want to add the Blaze as a trusted device for Bluetooth Connections. I said yes and added it. Ever since then it has worked fine going on 3 days now with no issues, i've connected my phone to other Bluetooth devices and it still works. Battery life is meh.. about 3 days max, but everything works. It is extremely frustrating that I don't know what actually fixed the problem, but for everyone still having issues, the only thing I can say is do a clean install / pairing - don't enable Bluetooth classic and let it ride for a couple days.. maybe setting your phone on vibrate for a long period of time helps to so after a couple days leave your phone on vibrate. It's a crappy solution, but it's what ended up working for me. What I can say is FitBit needs to come up with a firmware update that allows manual Bluetooth pairing for the low power bluetooth connection (the one that just says Blaze in the connection list). This would fix EVERYONEs problem.

I'm an IT guy with a lot of experience. I know a lot of tricks for troubleshooting. I have tried all the things you mentioned for my Fitbit Charge HR to get it to play nice with my Samsung S8. It used to work with my Samsung S4. My phone will sync properly and notify me of phone calls. What it won't do is appear on the Bluetooth devices listing on my S8 and will not connect to the phone's smart lock feature. The smart lock feature is extremely useful for me because my phone will stay unlocked when I have it with me and I am wearing my Fitbit. Fitbit already closed a previous discussion on this claiming the problem is resolved. But it is not. It's not like the Samsung S8 has a small user base. I would think fixing this would be a priority. I am going to look to solve this issue by checking into other options for fitness trackers. I was looking to upgrade to the blaze but after reading this and my experience with my Charge HR, I am thinking another direction is the best approach.

This is something that the bulk of us have already utilized. I've tried all of these methods and none work. The "blaze" does not show up in the paired devices just as Jonesman said above. As long as it doesn't show up there notifications will not work. The issue is with the app and the capability of pairing Blaze bluetooth low energy connection, this connection is setup by the app not the user.

I was able to get my surge to pair with the Samsung s8 but it appears that I'm having to repeat the pairing process each time, which loses all the data, which is totally ineffective. I'm guessing I'm gonna end up going back to the gear

Mine just started working...
I've done about all the tips that are posted here and also spoke with fitbit and it never worked.
This evening I silenced my phone and turned off notifications on the watch by pressing in on the upper right hand button. Within a few minutes I looked on my Bluetooth connections and I was connected to classic blaze and the regular blaze. Little bit after that I received my first notification.

I'm having the same issue as everyone else here. Notifications will not come through on my blaze with my new S8+. I tried with my Galaxy S6 and it gets all notifications. But nothing from the S8. I've followed the similar thread, tried to troubleshooting, uninstalled and reinstalled the app, unpaired the Blaze, re-paired it. Still no notifications. It shows that it connects to Blaze (Classic) in my bluetooth settings. It also finds Blaze, but if I try to connect, it says Rejected by Blaze. Any other ideas?

the thing is, the S8 is just not yet compatible with the blaze even though Fit bit says it is its really not. I have tried everything also. my suggestion is, just wait for the update or get a Garmin. in my opinion, Garmin is the way to go, always works and no issues. Fitbit dropped the ball and now I'm dropping them.

I think you're right. I'll just ditch the fitbit and move to something else. Just a shame to spend a couple hundred bucks for an item that doesn't work as it should with a phone that's been out for how many months?
