Syncing Alta on Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.
I just switched from an iPhone to the Note 7. I am loving the Note 7! I just have one problem... I can't set up my Alta to sync with it! I can't even get the Fitbit app on my Note 7 to find my Alta. I've tried turning the phone's Bluetooth off and on again. I've tried restarting my Alta. Yes I made sure to delete the Alta from my old iPhone (which I still have). Yes I remembered to"forget" my Alta from my iPhone's Bluetooth settings. I don't know what else to do!

Hello @mEs4806! Currently the Galaxy Note 7 from Samsung is not in our compatible list. Knowing that it was just released to the market I would suggest that you check the list for any update but this is the main reason your Alta is not syncing with your phone. I do want to add that Samsung phones are extremely versatile and usally compatible (even some that aren't in our list like some members states the J5 does sync) so I suggest you try these suggestions fro @HelenaFitbit to see if they work on your phone but remember that I can't guarantee they will.

Let me know how it goes!

I can't seem to open the website grim my phone at the moment. I will check it grim my computer when I can. In the meantime I want to say that I reconnected my Alta to my iPhone and logged into my Fitbit account from my Note 7, and now my Note 7 syncs with it and shows all my data. But if I delete my Alta from my iPhone it disappears from my Note 7 too. It's a nice workaround until you add the Note 7 to your list of supported devices.

@mEs4806 I would like to know what exactly do you do when you remove the tracker from your iPhone. I would suggest that you don't remove it from the app only "forget" from the bluetooth settings and check if you can sync with your Note 7.

Keep me posted!

I did add it back to my iPhone and forget it from Bluetooth settings, and my Note 7 recognizes it just fine now. But I am looking forward to the day when it can run just on my Note 7 alone.

@mEs4806 Great to hear that your tracker is syncing. Hopefully your Note 7 will be added to our supported devices list.

Just curious if you have any timeline for when the Note 7 will be part of the supported devices (for those of us who still have the phone and are not waiting for it to be re-released...)? Thank you! Gina

Very frustrating - considering I have now have Windows 10 and apparently there is a problem with it's syncing capabilities too...I have no way to sync. So for now I just have digital watch on...

Hi there @gmdido, welcome aboard to our Community and good to see you around too @mEs4806.

We don't have an specific date of when the devices are tested and listed as a compatible device that we can share with you. If a devices is not in our List Of Compatible Devices is because is not compatible at all or has not been fully tested to guarantee all the features will work flawlessly.

Nowadays is hard to find a device is not compatible with the Fitbit app and trackers, specially if is a Samsung phone, since all these high end devices are built with the same core specifications changing on some features based on the model.

I've seen some users syncing with a Note 7, so it wont hurt to give it a try, just make sure If you are running OS 6.0 (Marshmallow), please note that Google has changed the permissions required for Bluetooth syncing. You must turn on location services to sync your tracker (Settings > Location). For more information about the latest Google permission requirements, see Google's Android 6.0 Changes document.

@gmdido in your case you mentioned you have issues syncing with windows 10 and some recommendations for this would be to make sure your computer support Bluetooth, otherwise you can use the wireless sync dongle. Also make sure Fitbit Connect software is not installed in case you recently upgraded to Windows 10. In case is install is require to remove the software and use only the app. If your tracker is connected but won't sync, its possible your computer's Bluetooth signal is weak or temporarily compromised. Try plugging in the wireless sync dongle (most trackers) or charging cable (Blaze) to sync your tracker with the app.

Let me know if you have more questions. I'll be around.

Hi Roberto!

As much as I appreciate you getting back to me - I cannot get my Fitbit to
sync with my Note 7 OR my computer. I have tried everything you suggested,
as far as my bluetooth and location are concerned, and still am unable to
sync! As for my computer - I can't even get the Fitbit app for WIndows 10
to recognize my fitbit - that's going through the entire (lengthly) process
of "resetting" my Fitbit and "resetting" my wifi and bluetooth on the
computer - it still does not work there.

It is what it is. I appreciate you getting back to me, but will probably be
trying a different tracker after all of this hassle.

Have a wonderful day!
Thank you for your feeback.

This is happening to me as well. So frustrating. I was hoping to be able to get text notifications on the Alta etc. I sure hope this is corrected soon. I don't quite understand why it wouldn't be compatible with all smartphones. While not ideal at least I can sync it with my old iPhone and use it that way with my note 7
