Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

Now my calories burnt are not in sync with the app. The app says I have burnt more calories than my watch

Since this started happening in September I've given Fitbit the benefit of the doubt, maybe they just made a mis-step (pun intended) and really do care about their customers. Apparently not, as I've seen little improvement on the app functionality and interaction with my Fitbit on my wrist. In fact, as time passed I have found more and more disconnects and "downgraded" functionality. I develop software for a living and there is a time to be patient and a time to abandon, when you realize you've lost the implicit partnership you had with a software vendor and it's not coming back. I have decided to abandon and actually bought a new device at half the price from a competing company that starts with an "A" and is named after a Brazilian rain forest. It's important to note that I did not even consider a product branded by a company whose name begins with a "G" due to this experience. Time will tell if I'm happy with my new purchase, but even a relatively lazy customer like me, who really doesn't like change, is willing to embrace the unknown to dispose of the devil I know. Best of luck to everyone in their future fitness endeavors and I will be leaving this community for good.

The new app version is absolutely terrible, sorry! The usability is considerable lower than the previous version. The things that I needed and watched every day are super hard to find now and not intuitive. The visual/graphics on the front page are unappealing and make me NOT want to use the app. And worse still, and most important of all, the app is EXTREMELY HEAVY and half the time won't load, more than half the time it won't refresh and then I'm left for hours waiting for it to update and get me the correct time on the Fitbit on my wrist, so then I can't even use this device as a watch! Awful software product! Please return the previous app version!

what have you done to the Fitbit app that you forced me to use via Google?  What have you done to the Fitbit app that you forced me to use via Google???

I bought my first Fitbit charge in 2016 and upgraded all the way through to the current Fitbit six charge what you’ve done is ruined my enjoyment of the product made it almost impossible to read any of my data with graphics and layout, that is absolutely user unfriendly Please revert it back to what we all liked. We all knew and we loved it. Why have you made such awful changes just for the sake of  changing.

you’re giving all of us a reason to switch to Apple, which we’ve avoided since buying your product this could see the end of your products popularity on the shelves or online

I haven’t seen a bigger failure since “New Coke” this app/watch no longer functions to make it worth using it anymore. Display is not user friendly, doesn’t do the old functions. Fire the whole design team. How is this an improvement. So frustrating!

Ironically this morning I received a new Fitbit 'badge', 10 Years of Community!! Hooray! Looks like to celebrate I am throwing my Fitbit away if the issues I've reported aren't resolved by Christmas. Maybe I'll find a nice new fitness watch in the January sales 🙂

Does anyone know if you switch to another provider, maybe the one starting G and ending N, can you import your historical Fitbit data into their app?

Best Answer

The export is in CSV (plain text comma separated) format with a header line. The export is a ZIP compressed file with sub-directories for each data category. You just need to find the import specification for your new brand and edit the file (better still a copy in case you make an error) using a spreadsheet program (e.g. Excel, Open Office, Libre Office) or if you're more technically minded a plain text editor (e.g. notepad, notepad++, leafpad, etc.).

@Widdershins thank you very much. I'm not more technically minded 🙂 but I can manage a spreadsheet I think . Cheers.

I absolutely hate the new App, I have so much trouble with syncing.  Most days I have to turn off Bluetooth and back on again to get some info.  My hourly activity doesn't show up until hours later.  My resting heart rate doesn't show up for about 5 hours after I get up in the morning, the only thing that shows up is the heart rate at the time, which I can see on my Sense.  No battery info  at all when I go into the icon it tells me battery is empty, when I put on charge it tells me it's got x percent, not empty.  I've had enough. I even uninstalled the app and re installed, too no avail.  The old app was great as soon as I clicked on the icon everything came straight up and synced all the new figures within seconds. It is so frustrating, I need to monitor my heart rate.  I think the solution is to give my Sense the flick and the App and find another brand.

I have the same problem!! The old app used nice high-contract colors to show info. Everything looks the same now.

If something was green, I could tell at a glance it was good, and same with red. But the new colors are awful. What is purple supposed to mean???

I received an email from FitBit this morning inviting me to migrate my account to Google and if I don't they'll do it for me by 2025.

Don't worry FitBit - I'll be long gone by then.

It seems you are ignoring the vast majority of your users who have told you the myriad ways in which the update is not fit for purpose. My Sense 2 is nothing more than a glorified watch these days. I've given up trying to track anything with it. I'll be making use of the Christmas break to source its replacement.

Agree entirely and I'll be doing the same!

Yep already decided. I won’t be migrating either to Google. I’ll be migrating to another product unrelated to Google.

you could see this coming !

Best Answer

I agree. I’ve already started looking. Even downloaded some apps so I can see what they look like. We’ll be switching shortly.

It's a truly horrendous app now. What were they THINKING? And why are they sticking to it and pushing forward?? Talk about completely ignoring your customer base. An awful design and awful business decision to stick by it and watch their customer base leave in droves.
