Aria 2 won’t register guest weight

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Yesterday, my scales didn’t recognize me and said guest during the weigh in. In went into the app - recent weigh ins, and changed it to me. Today, the scales didn’t recognize me again. I went into recent weigh ins, but this time, there was no guest weight registered. So, I tried three more times and got nothing.

I then came to the Community to search for help. So far, I’ve tried removing the batteries and stepping on the scales 5 times (6 times, just in case) to recalibrate. Nothing. Tried that again. Nothing.

I’ve removed the scales from my app and readded them (twice); logged out of the app and back in (6 times); done a hard reset of my device (3 times), and then tried adding the scales again (twice). Tried removing the batteries again, and then stepping on 5 times again. I then got on to my Fitbit account via the web browser, hit the settings cog, gone into my Aria 2 to look for recent weigh ins and possibly change it to me there. However, I can’t find any data about weigh ins on the website.

It’s been 2.5 hours now, and I’m ready to throw the scales out the window.

Can anyone advise, please?

Update #?? (I've lost track of what number update this is)

Posted my query back in May. Six months later and still NO MEANINGFUL UPDATE from Fitbit.

Most of the time the scale works for me but I still can’t view guest with-ins in the app. The app appears to sync when a guest weigh-in happens but I can’t view it or assign it to myself.

Just got a new version of the FitBit app (3.87 iOS). It doesn’t look like the fancy new version that is being previewed. Alas, hopping on the scale did not see my results show up in my recent weigh in section.

This continues to be a problem and I think it is strange that it is marked as answered/solved.  Since this has been an issue for months, is there a way to get an update emailed to me once the problem has really been solved?

Best Answer

Is there a reason the Aria2 is not listing recent weigh ins? My router shows Aria2 connected, but nothing is being recorded/listed in the app. Please help! Super frustrating.

I don't understand how/why the posts are all scrambled by the dates.  It's impossible to follow a thread.  Is this normal?

Best Answer

I opened a fresh issue with a more clear description that was not marked "Solved" several week ago. Moderators on this forum closed it because they claimed it was a duplicate. Forcing all conversation about an ongoing issue into a thread marked "Solved" seems like a bad situation.

I can't tell if anybody at Google/Fitbit understands that this issue exists and/or if anybody is working on it.

As of this morning I can say the issue remains. When will this be resolved? It worked fine for years, what change made recent weigh-ins unable to be viewed and for what purpose?

I read about this here as I have Aria (original) scales and after Google purchased Fitbit then it seems the operations at the backend don't seem to work, so I'm experiencing the same issue as everyone else here as there is no recent weigh ins. I've not weighed myself in a while an my weight has changed but it doesn't recognise that it's me and thinks I'm a Guest.

I've since went on to Social media and posted on Fitbit Support and to fitbit and fitbitUK (on twitter or X or whatever its called now). They raised a support call with my email and I've been given a support reference number. If I hear anything I'll come back to this forum but they said they are "working" on it (that's about a week ago). Others may want to do the same in terms of getting something opened with their support team, I'm sure they don't want a tonne of negative social media posts.

Ultimately I'm trying to suspend skepticism here and let them get on with looking into it, but as time goes on with no response on the issue I'll get more and more frustrated.

I can inform you that they have been "working on this" since May 15 when it was first reported on this forum.  I and many others have trouble tickets and assigned cases for this issue.  Somehow all the posts have become scrambled by date, so it's impossible to follow a thread and figure out how long this has been a lingering issue.  I remain skeptical.  It's been nearly 3 months now.  It should not take that long to "unbreak" whatever they "broke" back in May.

Oh that's good to know, I guess I'll just keep the pressure up on their social media as well. I've seen this before with Google, they acquire a company, a lot of good people leave the company they acquire and then they just don't do further development but keep the brand etc. I suspect the next Fitbit product will not actually be Fitbit but probably more Google with a fitbit name.

This is showing to be a huge waste of my money. My wife had our watches die in the exact same manner within days of each other, within days of an update. Now this isn’t working and yet it’s an expensive scale with literally one giant function that makes it different from other scales, but doesn’t work. This is unacceptable.

Original Aria scale user here. This same problem suddenly showed itself for us yesterday. We have 4 users registered with the scales, and lightest-user gained weight and became second-lightest-user. They weighed themselves, and it assigned the weight to me by mistake. Then it started assigning my weighings to Guest, and I discovered this missing Guest weight thing.

I ”fixed” it by getting all users to sign in and reassign the wrongly assigned weights. Then I weighed myself, and it assigned it directly to the wrong person. We manually reassigned it. Repeat a few times, and it's back to normal.

We were lucky though. Still can't see Guest weights, so if we ever need to then we're in trouble. It's definitely uploading those weights, just can't see them.

I don't know if the method I used to work around it would work for others. I don't know if manually logging weights for all users helps. Don't forget it also uses body fat to identify people, so wearing or not wearing socks to block/allow that could help it get back on track. A long time ago I had issues with it not recognising one user, and that was resolved by entering their height. I think it can't record body fat until it knows the height.

At least Fitbit have acknowledged there's an issue. It's a pity they seem to regard that as reason to mark this issue resolved. Fingers crossed that one day those Guest weights magically reappear.

Ok it’s August 6 and I still don’t see any solution…. Pretty soon it’s all going in the trash - including the Fitbit

That is why I’ve bought a Withings scales I’m sick of not being able to use a “smart scales” how we should be able to. My partners reading work on her account but mine don’t link neither do the guest readings the scales keep saying i am they vanish an aren’t showing in the app

Any updates on this issue?

I added a couple of pounds over the past few months and now every weigh in is going into a guest profile and I literally cannot see any of that data. Is there a way to resolve this or do I need to wait until I get back to my OG weight so this app recognizes it's me?

I use the Aria scale to also weigh my cat and track his weight.  Since he no longer registers as a 'guest' under recent weigh ins, I now have no way to monitor his weight.  Outside of doing it the old fashioned way and writing it down.  Defeats the purpose of having the fancy scale.

I'm currently experiencing a similar issue with my ARIA 2 device. It no longer seems to be recording weight accurately. The device consistently displays the weight as GUESS, and there are no recent weight records on app. Judging from this post, it appears that this problem is widespread and has been persisting for quite some time. Could you please provide an update on when this issue might be resolved? Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Exact same issue here. Only displaying ne as Guest and the "Recent weigh-ins"-log is empty so I can't assign the correct weight to my profile.

My aria2 scale keeps showing me as guest. I have reset it and done the calibration but still the same problem. It’s not showing the body fat percentage either and not syncing the guest weight into my device in order for NES to assign it to myself? The scale is getting very useless

This is true you can see weigh ins but for last few days I weigh in as guest and the Guest weights dont show up in Recent Weigh In's. Only my old weigh ins under my username from last week and prior.
