Aria 2 won’t register guest weight

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Yesterday, my scales didn’t recognize me and said guest during the weigh in. In went into the app - recent weigh ins, and changed it to me. Today, the scales didn’t recognize me again. I went into recent weigh ins, but this time, there was no guest weight registered. So, I tried three more times and got nothing.

I then came to the Community to search for help. So far, I’ve tried removing the batteries and stepping on the scales 5 times (6 times, just in case) to recalibrate. Nothing. Tried that again. Nothing.

I’ve removed the scales from my app and readded them (twice); logged out of the app and back in (6 times); done a hard reset of my device (3 times), and then tried adding the scales again (twice). Tried removing the batteries again, and then stepping on 5 times again. I then got on to my Fitbit account via the web browser, hit the settings cog, gone into my Aria 2 to look for recent weigh ins and possibly change it to me there. However, I can’t find any data about weigh ins on the website.

It’s been 2.5 hours now, and I’m ready to throw the scales out the window.

Can anyone advise, please?

The manual weight entering does not work. I have an Aria 1. The threads got merged with this one because people don’t do their job properly. What a surprise.

I have the Aria 1 too, and it worked for me. I suspect there's more to it than just entering the weights, and that I fluked the right conditions. When I was plagued by weights getting assigned to the wrong people or Guest years ago, it came good when I entered everyone's heights. I think it can't calculate body fat without a height. It would be cool if tech support would confirm if that's true. Someone must know the algorithm it uses to assign weights. There's an older thread with a list of dozens of things people have tried, but no one knows for sure which ones help.

Good news, my Aria 2 appears to be working again. What ptersa suggested seems to have done the trick in the end -- I do have to acknowledge many previous actions such as resets, battery pulls, wifi reconfigurations, "recalibrations," incantations, and casting of chicken bones.

All kidding aside, I manually updated my weight in the Fitbit app. In my case, this was an unfortunate 20lb correction since last weigh-in. I then weighed myself, and the scale acknowledged with my avatar, checkmark, happy face, and finished successfully.

The scale appears to report/record my weight properly and associates my weigh-ins with my account/profile. Since I am the sole user, I don't have anyone to test guest functionality -- but I did alter my weight by 30lb and the scale displayed "Guest" while recording nothing in the app under "Recent Weigh-ins."

If that is the desired behavior, then it is certainly not what I was expecting.

Anyway, it seems to be working again -- for now, at least. Thank you for the suggestion.

Thanks for testing and confirming it! My theory is that if you were to connect two accounts to it, and to manually set one of them 10kg/20lb lower than your weight, and the other 10kg/20lb higher, then should you gain or lose a few kg, it should assign those weights to one of those two dummy accounts instead of the inaccessible Guest.

The scale and all the updates are garbage. Nothing keeps it working. One day it does and you're like yay!! Thenfitbit changes things again and nothing works how its supposed to. You can't see guest to fix the issue and reassign. I'm throwing the scale away. It's worthless to me. I bought it for a reason it doesn't do what it's supposed to, it'swasted money. It's just adding more stress and frustration. I'll see about a cheap a** scale and log it manually. Fitbit has been going down hill. And I'm tired of fighting all the things that are supposed to work together and just don't.

Just found this after having the problem with my Aria.  I can't believe it has been going on this long without a resolution.  I moved my account from Fitbit to Google and this started happening.

Google is going to destroy Fitbit just like they did with Nest.

Almost like they broke them deliberately?

Signing up to this forum just to add my complaints here.

We need to be able to see guest weight ins and reassign them.  This is a huge bug that needs to be fixed.  Half the people here can no longer use the product.

Taking my frustrations to Trust Pilot and Klaviyo

maybe make you move a bit faster

Just to be clear, there are many people with this issue who haven't moved their account to Google.

Hi all,

I emaild the Dutch support staff after 4 months for an update but they did not even toook the time to replay anymore.

This thread has the status 'resolved' wich is clearly not the case. Now people need to read 25 pages to come to this conclusion wich makes it even more frustrating. Google has a track record to ditch products reight and left (Nest, Stadia etc) and it seems Fitbit is next in line. It's a real pitty that a positive brand like Fitbit is going down the same path.

Sorry if you have seen this slightely edited message before but the previous version dissapeard from the forum.

Why is this marked as solved when it's definitely not solved?  I am having the same issue.

Can't they just rewind development and get it back to how it was before? I still can't see Guest weigh-ins, my mum is not receiving her invites to be a registered person for weigh-ins, can't assign wrong weigh-ins to the right person, weigh-ins not registering on the app and desktop software (I have to manually enter my weight). This is terrible.

I am suffering from the same issue as can be found here: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Aria-Scales/Aria-2-won-t-register-guest-weight/td-p/5389465/page/8

I've read all 25 pages of the thread Which has been closed and is far from fixed  and there isn't a clear answer past " we are working on it"...

I've just contacted support and they have forwarded me to the "team dealing with this issue", this issue has obviously been around since May this year.
I'm asking Fitbit to answer a couple of questions  here publicly please so we can all get a bit of clarity:

  • Why is this not working?
  • What are you currently doing to fix this?
  • Are you planning on actually fixing this or are you writing users with older scales off in favor of pushing users to purchase new scales?

I really did expect better from Fitbit I like this brand and I hope they can rectify this which is obviously harming quite a few users.

Some of the comments on the "solved" thread are from people who's partners rely on this technology to track their health ( Alzheimers, Parkinsons etc etc ).

When can we all expect a response and a fix FitBit ?

I've now gone and opened another thread: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Aria-Scales/Aria-2-not-registering-me-unable-to-claim-guest-weighins...

since this one was incorrectly closed by Fitbit.

Hey Lizzy:

This is obviously far from resolved so I've opened up a new thread and plan on messaging everyone in this thread to start complaining over there.

We all appreciate the effort, but the powers that be will simply merge your new issue with this one. @Hshdhhhhh has the ability to mark this as not solved, and they have done so a few times, but again the powers that be have taken to putting their account on freeze to prevent this.

hundreds or thousands have people have this issue, my scale has been a paperweight since May (it is October now)

I agree. My spouse and I have not been able to see each other's stats since mid-May. Also, on those rare occasions that one of our weigh in's is applied to "Guest", it can't be seen by either of us, nor can it be recovered or re-assigned to the correct person. The "guest" recording is rare for us, but frustrating nonetheless. The big problem for us is not being able to track each others info. This has been going on for five months now, an extremely long time to have not been corrected.

Will this issue be fixed? It's been weeks since reported 😪
