Blaze can provide Call, Text, and Calendar notifications so that you can stay connected!

undefined

This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Blaze, please see this help page

Setup Steps:

  1. Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices
  2. On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby! Note that you'll only receive notifications on your tracker when your mobile device is within this radius.
  3. Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile dashboard.
  4. Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap Notifications, and then turn on call notifications.
  5. To verify that set up was successful, look at the list of Bluetooth-connected devices on your mobile device. Your tracker name should appear.

Using Alerts:

You can easily see all of your alerts by swiping up from the home screen. Here, you'll see previous incoming calls, text messages for the day, and calendar alerts as well. You may delete these alerts either individually or all at once.

Notes

  • For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App. Please also ensure that message preview is toggled on in your phone's settings, as this should help populate the message content.
  • iOS users should allow reception of text notifications in their Notification Center settings, in addition to the workflow for alerts in the Fitbit app for iOS.
  • Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or select 3rd party apps on Android.
  • Windows Phones don't support alerts at this time.
  • Fitbit trackers currently don't support emojis. Notifications containing emojis will show a blank square, instead of the emoji that was sent.
  • Text messages won't show up if the message app is open on your phone.
  • When using Message+, your Fitbit tracker will show a notification that looks something like this: (Contact Name – 1 New Message). This is because when messages are received in Message+, they're stored that way in the notifications center on Android.
  • If you receive more than one text message in succession from the same person, your tracker may group the messages together as "2 New Messages" or "3 New Messages" instead of showing a preview of the message text.

@Jason212 what you are describing is a limitation of the default app and the Android OS, Fitbit is sending the data to the blaze the way the OS sends it to the lock screen and Fitbit. I havefound Google Messenger works fine, but not a fan of it. There are several other messaging apps listed above.

That's what I figured, notifications aren't that important to me so I'm not real worried about it. I was just trying to help others.

When will the Win 10 phones be able to recieve notifications? That is one of the main reasons I bought the Blaze

My understanding is that fitbit and MS have done some communicating over this.

To put it on simple terms the Fitbit uses one way receiving notifications, Windows uses a different way and doesn't know how to talk to fitbit.

Is there any possibility to get repeatable notification on my Blaze? Example: 3 times each 2 minutes until I confirm that I saw the message.

I don't get any notification with my galaxy s7 edge when I try to enable it I get a pretty picture with a phone and a hand wearing what looks like the charge and large red bar underneath which says enable notification.

Is Fitbit looking into expanding the "2 messages" or more to where each message can be previewed? The character amount, currently, is okay. It would just be helpful seeing the multiple texts that are received.

My Blaze pairs with my Motorola Droid Mini when it feels like it, unpairs when it feels like it and I only get notifications occasionally.  😞  I have tried everthing folks on this forum have suggested.  Otherwise, I like the rest of Blaze's functions.  I sure hope they can fix this so I can enjoy all the features as advertised.

Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere. Is there a timeframe for the Notifications to be available for Windows Phone? Interesting oversight as my Lumia 950XL came with the Fitbit app preloaded so thought that this was closer to being a reality.  Hear from you soon.  Cheers!

@SReiter the 2 messages notifacation is, caused by the way your messaging app agenda the notification days to your phone, or should show on the Blaze the same way it showed up on the phone's lock screen.

The easiest way to fix this is to change the messaging app. Message Plus doesn't work.

Google messager along with several others do.

Glance through the prongs above, there is plenty odd info on which programs work

@Rich_Laue Thank you for your reply. I use the stock messaging app for Android. Do you still recommend trying a different app?

In case anyone is having issues with notifications suddenly not appearing. . .  I deleted the app on my iphone and then reinstalled it.  Everything is once again coming through.

Thanks for the idea - I will try that.  Never had any issues until I downloaded the update a few days ago and now, it's spotty at best.  I have reset my Blaze at least twice and that seems to take care of the issue but only for a little while.

I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app numerous times.  My Blaze still pairs when it feels like it, and can unpair at any moment.  VERY frustrating.

@SReiter while the basic messaging app has been reported to work, I was only able to read the body of the message while there was only that one unread message. I found Google Messenger worked better for me.

Customer service sucks. My Blaze doesn't sync properly. You can't return the Blaze cause it's used. I get no direct correspondence from Fitbit. I spent $200 on a watch. Not a smart watch. My notifications all tell me they're phone calls. I get no RED or GREEN option.... Just .... Incomes phone call. Stupid.

Hello @scottchabala72 Fitbit gives a 45 day trial period, it you purchased from them, and many stores give a 2 week to a month to decide. As for answering calls this feature is only found on the iOS. Have you called Fitbit yet, phone number and hours are plumb the contact page.

@Happy917 have you looked at the OP, we will need more info on the type of phone and what messaging app. As stated many times above Message Plus fails.

Here are two solutions to two issues;

If you are using and Android phone, Fitbit doesn't support answering your phone from your device. That feature is only supported on iOS, or iPhones.

For those of you not able to get CT your Fitbits Bluetooth connection, make sure that on your firbit, the Bluetooth option is set to 'pair'. That way, its in pairing mode and in this mode you'll be able to find your fitbit on your phones Bluetooth.
