ISSUE: Can't sync or pair Blaze with an iOS device

BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSIONS AFFECTED: (8.301.7) & (8.200.3)

iOS VERSIONS AFFECTED: 10.2.x

*** FIXED IN BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSION (8.301.8) ***

Still having trouble? Can't update or sync?

Read the difference between unbonding and unpairing first:

Unbonding - going into the bluetooth settings of your iPhone or iPad, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Forget This Device".

Unpairing - going into the Fitbit app, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Remove This Blaze".

*** DO NOT DO THIS TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE ***

Now that you've read that, try unbonding BEFORE trying to update your Blaze firmware (see screenshots below):

  1. Go to your iOS device's Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

Okay, I've unbonded. Now what?

Try syncing your Blaze, then try to update the firmware.

Still can't sync or update? Here are some suggestions:

  1. Try doing some standard sync troubleshoots
  2. Sync/update using an alternate device (if possible)

Updated on 1/20/17 for clarity.

Just wondering if there is any update on an ETA to fix this issue as I need to update my iOS for other reasons.  Thanks.

Any update on when this issue will be resolved. My Blaze died and now the time is wrong. It's getting annoying 😆

My Blaze appears to be working now. I unpaired it from Bluetooth earlier at "Help" suggestions. I am now getting requests from Bluetooth to pair it again . Is it safe to do yet?

How long do you estimate the fix will take because my Fitbit is a useless paperweight at this point because the time is wrong and won't since to correct it?

Issue had. It been resolved. Already did the troubleshooting steps.

This began back in October. Previously I was able to turn off blaze at night. Turn back on in am and all would be fine. Now, I turn blaze back on in am and blaze still shows prev date and time. Need to get my phone, go to the app, and manually sync to correct date and time. This wasn't an issue prior to October. I've had my blaze since February 2016. Let me know what I can do to fix this.

Thank you.

Did "Forget this device", reset my blaze. Now my phone isn't even finding it on Bluetooth. This is frustrating

Hello, I kown the engineers are working on fixing the syncing issue. Can you provide a status update on when we might expect a solution? I haven't been able to sync since Sunday, 12/18/16. Thanks.

Now I'm just pissed off. I removed (aka "forgot") the bluetooth connection and then reconnected my Blaze, fixing the problem. And now it's locked out again. Rapidly losing patience.

UPDATE 12/21/16:

Hey all - Blaze firmware 8.301.8 should now be available for everyone.

This update resolves the syncing issue with iOS 10.2 - Update your Blaze!

UPDATE 12/20/16:

The latest iOS release is affecting syncing on select Blaze trackers. On your mobile device go to Settings > About. If the Version is 10.1.1 or below, you're not affected by this issue and it's likely your syncing difficulty is caused by a missing requirement or other common issue.

If the Version is 10.2 or 10.2.1, update your Blaze to the latest firmware version (8.301.8) to resolve the issue. The firmware update will be rolled out starting today (December 20th), everyone should expect to have it within a few days.

If you get an error when attempting to update, try this:

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

Keep in mind you’ll need to turn notifications on again after updating:

- Open the Fitbit app and tap the Account tab.

- Tap the Blaze image near the top of the screen.

- Tap Notifications. Turn on the specific notifications you'd like to see and follow the prompts.

If you go in and delete if from your phone completely also delete if from your Bluetooth, you can go in and set it up as a new device and all is good! It has worked for everyone that's been reading the posts.

Just installed the new firmware. This does seem to have fixed the constant Bluetooth reconnection  so hopefully battery drain is fixed too.

Since my I-phone with the 10.2 update won't even find the Blaze now, where will I find the firmware update to install?  Will it show up in my app somewhere?

Everyone, there is an update for the Blaze. Do it. If that doesn't fix your problem, i would sugggwest you remove the app from your phone, remove the fitbit from bluetooth devices on your phone restart both your phone and fitbit and reinstall the fitbit app on your phone and reconnect like new.

What I did was forget the blaze under Bluetooth , turn off blue tooth turn off phone turn off blaze turn on phone turn on Bluetooth open Fitbit app and repair the blaze to the app should force the firmware update which seems to resolve the issue

For gods sake Fitbit take control and fix this problem. How do you not resolve any IOS integration issues before any new release comes from Apple. I've had years of syncing issues across a number of Fitbit devices but this is by far the worse, rendering the device useless for something as simple as telling the time.

FWIW I've deleted my device from my app and tried to add it back. This has worked before with the Charge HR. With my Blaze I can no longer reinstall it. So it's impossible to update the firmware. I hope you consider this in your official response

Is this impacting the battery life on the blaze as well?
