ISSUE: Can't sync or pair Blaze with an iOS device

BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSIONS AFFECTED: (8.301.7) & (8.200.3)

iOS VERSIONS AFFECTED: 10.2.x

*** FIXED IN BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSION (8.301.8) ***

Still having trouble? Can't update or sync?

Read the difference between unbonding and unpairing first:

Unbonding - going into the bluetooth settings of your iPhone or iPad, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Forget This Device".

Unpairing - going into the Fitbit app, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Remove This Blaze".

*** DO NOT DO THIS TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE ***

Now that you've read that, try unbonding BEFORE trying to update your Blaze firmware (see screenshots below):

  1. Go to your iOS device's Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

Okay, I've unbonded. Now what?

Try syncing your Blaze, then try to update the firmware.

Still can't sync or update? Here are some suggestions:

  1. Try doing some standard sync troubleshoots
  2. Sync/update using an alternate device (if possible)

Updated on 1/20/17 for clarity.

I dont know why i ddint come here to start ---

But after 3-4 hours total of "trying" to update the firmware - I followed the instructions given to forget blze from my iOS.. go back to the app and pair it from there - its finally updating as i type this.

Hi there, just wondering when the latest firmware update will be available for my Fitbit? I still can't sync and the firmware it is on is version 7 (not 8 which is supposed to fix the problem). Cheers, Marie

I was experiencing the same issues but they corrected after connecting the Blaze to the computer. Windows 10 has an app and I used that. Not sure if other operating systems would have the same fix.

Me too.  I updated my IOS to 10.2.  Tried to update the Blaze which is currently at 17.8.301.7 but it says "loading" gets half way through and then shuts off back to "update tracker".  I read that there is an issue with IOS 10.2 and how to update the Blaze to version 17.8.301.8 by going to bluetooth and 'forgetting' the blaze but that doesn't work either.  Hopefully a fix will be coming soon.  Thanks!

It still does not work.  It will not even take the update.

Hi there, I can see that there is an update available now but if I try to update it just keeps loading and loading and nothing happens!

  1. Go to Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

And what next?

My Blaze isn't reconnecting either now. It wouldn't sync all week and kept draining the battery from trying to sync. I took the blaze off my account and now it won't reconnect. Really frustrating.

I have tried these steps now my phone won't find my Blaze at all to add it back. I'm getting really irritated with this problem. Any suggestions please. Thank you. Amy

Me too. I'm guessing it's not fixed. Those instructions are not helping me. I deleted my blaze off my phone now it's not finding it at all.
