ISSUE: Can't sync or pair Blaze with an iOS device

BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSIONS AFFECTED: (8.301.7) & (8.200.3)

iOS VERSIONS AFFECTED: 10.2.x

*** FIXED IN BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSION (8.301.8) ***

Still having trouble? Can't update or sync?

Read the difference between unbonding and unpairing first:

Unbonding - going into the bluetooth settings of your iPhone or iPad, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Forget This Device".

Unpairing - going into the Fitbit app, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Remove This Blaze".

*** DO NOT DO THIS TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE ***

Now that you've read that, try unbonding BEFORE trying to update your Blaze firmware (see screenshots below):

  1. Go to your iOS device's Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

Okay, I've unbonded. Now what?

Try syncing your Blaze, then try to update the firmware.

Still can't sync or update? Here are some suggestions:

  1. Try doing some standard sync troubleshoots
  2. Sync/update using an alternate device (if possible)

I'm stuck at step one. I tried a few times to download the upadate, no luck. trying to turn off bluetooth for this device and on the settings screen where it shows that Blaze is connected, there is no "i" icon to tap so I can choose "forget this device." Two other bluetooth devices allow me to select the "i" and then "forget this device" but Blaze just says connected. What to do?

This is an absolute joke. The Fitbit should be thoroughly embarassed. I fixed the problem following the directions then abruptly a few days ago, the problem reocurred and I started the process all over again, except this time the firmware on the device was removed so there aren't any steps for the device to now find my Blaze. What a joke of a product...completely disatisfied and would never reommend.

Same problem. I'm really close to taking out the hammer and busting this **ahem** into a million pieces. Who has time for this BS?

Finally after removing Blaze, forgetting the device, updating the tracker (multiple times), finally after the fourth time of trying the procedure and 3 or 4 hours of my life I will never get back, it updated. Keep in mind, this is the second time I've gone through this drill in the past 30 days - not sure if it was because I uploaded by iPhone software twice to go to 10.2 or not or if it was becuase I let the battery go completely dead on the Blaze before recharging or what, but either way, the problem is significant. If this wasn't a Father's Day gift and it was something I purchased myself, I would have abandoned it long ago. On a 1-10 scale, 10 being the best, I would rate this product a 3 and would never recommend.

Following all the forum feedback my Blaze will not accept the current update or sync.

Removed app from iphone and re-installed. Forced shutdown on Blaze and also turned on/off.

On reboot the update stalls and goes back to Update screen, same with syncing.

Please I need some help!!

Mine won't sync either.  I got it to work once this week, that's it!!  I'll never get another iPhone!  Apple likes to make it difficult for competitors products to work - they want to sell you an iwatch!!

Im annoyed!  I got 10,000 steps in yesterday and can't sync!

Hi, I was having the exact same issues and what seemed to work was when i dleted the app and the fitbit and re added the device but them what i seemed to notice was that my time through out the day would be 1-2 hours behind i did not do anything odd to it. If anyone knows the answer to this please let me know.

I had the same issue. I found unpairing it from my iPhone several times seemed to fix the problem. Go into your bluetooth setting on your iPhone and disconnect your Blaze and pair it again. Like I said it took me three or four times, but finally my iPhone and the Blace communicated properly via bluetooth

My Blaze stopped syncing last night. I deleted the device from the app and reinstalled after "forgetting device" with my Bluetooth. Appeared to fix the problem. However, as of this morning I was back to square one. Still not syncing and Bluetooth is unable to find device!

Thank you!  I've had this blaze since may 2016, and this is the only issue that I encountered so far wih my blaze.  I had been trying to sync and update my blaze for more than a week now and CAN NOT.   I tried almost everything: from turning off my ios device then turning it back on, shutting down my blaze, etc...

Finally and thankfully  after searching, I found your solution.

Thanks a lot, Andrew!  It works!

I have now had to do this three times, it is truly driving me crazy. Each time I have lost all my data. It all feels a bit pointless. Surely a corporation as large as FitBit has the capacity to sort this out once and for all. It is driving me closer and closer to an iPhone watch. This is my third FitBit and unless it is resolved soon it will be my last FitBit.

Please let me know, do FitBit have any intention of resolving this issue in the long term? It is quite unreasonable for FitBit users to have to go through all these steps each time it disengages .... so very very frustrating!

Looking forward to hearing from someone. Sincerely. Wendy
