ISSUE: Can't sync or pair Blaze with an iOS device

BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSIONS AFFECTED: (8.301.7) & (8.200.3)

iOS VERSIONS AFFECTED: 10.2.x

*** FIXED IN BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSION (8.301.8) ***

Still having trouble? Can't update or sync?

Read the difference between unbonding and unpairing first:

Unbonding - going into the bluetooth settings of your iPhone or iPad, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Forget This Device".

Unpairing - going into the Fitbit app, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Remove This Blaze".

*** DO NOT DO THIS TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE ***

Now that you've read that, try unbonding BEFORE trying to update your Blaze firmware (see screenshots below):

  1. Go to your iOS device's Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

    ForgetThisDevice.png

Okay, I've unbonded. Now what?

Try syncing your Blaze, then try to update the firmware.

Still can't sync or update? Here are some suggestions:

  1. Try doing some standard sync troubleshoots
  2. Sync/update using an alternate device (if possible)

Updated on 1/20/17 for clarity.

I removed my device before finding this thread, and am now having difficulty adding it back.  Have since followed the steps to "forget" this device from my phone's bluetooth settings; however am still not able to add the device.  Turning off/back on my bluetooth is not working either, as it doesn't even see the Fitbit Blaze... any other tips would be helpful.

Thanks in advance

Agreed. A conspiracy theorist would wonder if Apple did something to kill the competition... none of the fixes or the update work more than once. At this point it's just a watch and I don't really need a watch

Mine stopped synching since the iOS update. I then got the app telling me to update it, but it wouldn't update. So, I went to Bluetooth and forgot the device. I deleted the app from my phone, went to the app store and downloaded it again. I went online and changed my password (only because I forgot it). I then opened the app, logged in, and it started synching. Everything from December 13 to today (24th) was now in the app. I then tried updating the app and it worked this time. PITA!!!

I have tried everything listed. I have deleted the app, restarted the blaze and ran updates. It will sync with my iPad running 10.2 but not my iPhone 7 running the same 10.2. The Bluetooth on my phone will not find it. How do I get the phone to recognize it?

It only works with one Bluetooth connection. Turn off your iPad Bluetooth and I bet it will sync with your iPhone.

Unpair your Fitbit from phone. Turn off your Bluetooth. Close your Fitbit app. Restart your Fitbit by pressing the left button and lower right button together; you should see a "You're all caught up with your notifications" message. Turn your Bluetooth back on. Go directly to the app and it should try to sync automatically (still). It worked for me the second time it tried to sync, and now it works for me.

B sure in the Fitbit settings on the device itself that Bluetooth is on and pairing is on. Somehow mine wasn't after iOS update. Once I learned from Fitbit to check those settings, I was able to pair, unpaid, forget device, install update, etc.
Hope this helps.
Merry Christmas!

Why did I have to read through these threads to find a solution. Update your help section...

Hello there,

I have followed EVERYTHING in this thread and my Blaze is still not working! I removed the Blaze from my phone completely, reset my phone, reset the device and it still is NOT working at all. My iPhone won't even find the Blaze to even reinstall the Blaze on my iPhone app.

Is there a solution for this? Or do I need to completely just give up?

@Jmelee1221 I'm not sure what your trying to do? Is the tracker setup? It won't need to be setup again,.

@AIhrig what is it that made your sync work?

The tracker won't set back up. On the Blaze screen to set up as a brand new device it won't even find it. Like it goes to the screen that says "not working" the tracker can't even be found to set it up.

Are you getting the message to hold the left button and right lower button on the blaze? If yes, hold for 15 seconds (which set up does not tell you). You should then see a code that needs to be input. From there things should progress. I will tell you I called CS, they were very helpful.

Please excuse any typos, my iPad thinks it knows how to spell better than I can.

So, I fund out the problem with mine was that I was paired with my iPad. I was trying to pair it with my phone. It will only pair with one device so turn off the Bluetooth on any other devices you use the app on.

Try
1. Turn off Bluetooth
2. Delete the iOS app
3. Turn Bluetooth back on
4. Down load the app
5. Open app and login to your account
