ISSUE: Can't sync or pair Blaze with an iOS device

BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSIONS AFFECTED: (8.301.7) & (8.200.3)

iOS VERSIONS AFFECTED: 10.2.x

*** FIXED IN BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSION (8.301.8) ***

Still having trouble? Can't update or sync?

Read the difference between unbonding and unpairing first:

Unbonding - going into the bluetooth settings of your iPhone or iPad, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Forget This Device".

Unpairing - going into the Fitbit app, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Remove This Blaze".

*** DO NOT DO THIS TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE ***

Now that you've read that, try unbonding BEFORE trying to update your Blaze firmware (see screenshots below):

  1. Go to your iOS device's Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

Okay, I've unbonded. Now what?

Try syncing your Blaze, then try to update the firmware.

Still can't sync or update? Here are some suggestions:

  1. Try doing some standard sync troubleshoots
  2. Sync/update using an alternate device (if possible)

Updated on 1/20/17 for clarity.

Also, don't get too excited folks.  I went through the entire re-pairing process when I first figured out threre was a problem and it worked for 2 days.  I'm back to it not syncing and the constant sync attempts are now draining my batery in record time.

Thanks!  I appreciate all of your hard work and you keeping us up-to-date.

I found that by just "forgetting" my Blaze in the bluetooth settings and then re-pairing it that it synced just fine!

Is there an estimated time when this fix will take place?    Also....will all data be lost or saved until the next sync?    Thank you.

The battery issue because it keeps trying to sync just about sent me mental.
My Blaze never runs down that quickly and it was down to nothing. I didn't
even realize it hadn't synced for 4 days and then I realized (because I had
it on all day sync) it was just trying to sync over and over and the battery
went poof! At least I figured out why..

I have updated my iPhone 5s to IOS 10.2 and now my blaze won't sync. Tried everything to no avail.

THANK YOU ANDREW!   I was ready to return my Blaze to the store.  Hoping they can find a fix soon! Mostly, right now I just need to be able to tell the time correctly and get alarms to work.  Thanks for letting us know.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one having this issue. Also happy to see you guys are working on a fix. BTW, the time on my Blaze is off by 3 hrs, 3 min.

Try unsyncing it and syncing it again on Bluetooth, worked for me

I have tried ALL of the above fixes and none are working.  Fixing, deleting, rebooting on both ends, turning off and on Bluetooth etc.  Nada.

when I updated to iOS 10.3, not only did my Blaze stop syncing, but the buttons stopped working as well - all three of them. Has anyone else had this problem?

Hi, both me and my girlfriend are both having this problem. Would this also mess with the battery life of the blaze as both of ours seem to be dying really quickly, I charged mine fully at about 8 last night and about an hour ago it dyed. Only thing that has changed is this syncing issue as before my blaze would comfortably last 3-4 days

thanks

Does Anyone know if it would help to restore the phone to the factory settings via itunes? To hopefully remove the 10.2 update? I feel naked without my blaze. Please keep everyone updated, I shudder to think how many people will be disappointed on Christmas morning when they discover that their Fitbit's are virtually useless.

I was able to recover my blaze today but it is important to remember that Fitbit has acknowledged that there is an issue with the 10.2 update that they are working to resolve so this may only be temporary. I had already removed my blaze from my account in the app. I did this by touching the account icon in the app and going to the bottom to "remove this blaze"

Then I did as suggested by others and "forgot" my Blaze in the iPhone. Do this by going into Settings-Bluetooth and touching the small blue "i" on the right of the "Blaze" connection. There you will see "Forget this device" and touch to select. Then make sure that the Fitbit app is not running by double clicking your iPhone home button and swiping away the app.

Once you have done that reboot the iPhone by pushing in the lock key and the home key at the same time. While the phone is rebooting reset the blaze by holding in the left button and the bottom right button until it cycles back to the Fitbit logo.

Now open the app and go to the account tab and select add a device. It will direct you through the steps and might solve your issue.

Please remember that Apple did the 10.2 update and broke the app. Fitbit has acknowledged the issue and is working to fix the problem.

Mine stopped syncing, until I took it off my phone and paired it again. Now the battery lasts about 4 hours. It was lasting 5+ days. What the heck happened? I am pretty sure I amout of waranty at this point, but this is an insane drop in battery life.

I went to bluetooth and FORGET THIS DEVICE and waited about 15 seconds and then added it again.  Iphone asked if I wanted to PAIR THIS DEVICE and I answered yes and voila!!  Fitbit and iphone are friends again.

Thanks to all who gave suggestions!!

Any update on when this will be fixed. I can longer even use mine due to the fact the time is now wrong on my Blaze and the only way to fix it is to sync it with my phone. Which is obviously not working.

Just checking in to see if there is an approximate time frame on fixes. Bummed I paid that kind of money for something I cannot use now.
