ISSUE: Can't sync or pair Blaze with an iOS device

BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSIONS AFFECTED: (8.301.7) & (8.200.3)

iOS VERSIONS AFFECTED: 10.2.x

*** FIXED IN BLAZE FIRMWARE VERSION (8.301.8) ***

Still having trouble? Can't update or sync?

Read the difference between unbonding and unpairing first:

Unbonding - going into the bluetooth settings of your iPhone or iPad, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Forget This Device".

Unpairing - going into the Fitbit app, selecting the Blaze, then choosing "Remove This Blaze".

*** DO NOT DO THIS TO TROUBLESHOOT THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE ***

Now that you've read that, try unbonding BEFORE trying to update your Blaze firmware (see screenshots below):

  1. Go to your iOS device's Settings > Bluetooth > Find Blaze in the "My Devices" list.
  2. Tap the info icon and tap "Forget this Device".

Okay, I've unbonded. Now what?

Try syncing your Blaze, then try to update the firmware.

Still can't sync or update? Here are some suggestions:

  1. Try doing some standard sync troubleshoots
  2. Sync/update using an alternate device (if possible)

Updated on 1/20/17 for clarity.

I tried doing the forget the device and add it back but it fails.  The Blaze sees the iPhone and creates the 4 digit code but it never cmpletes the process.  The Balze is connected because I get notiifcations of texts and calls.  The call feature is broken because it keeps vibrating the Balze even afrter I answered the call.

I went through the same process with the same result. I put in the 4 numbers as requested and nothing happens!

I just tried this with my blaze in its charger and my phone at 100% charge. Removing Blaze from bluetooth and re-adding it as a new device seems to have worked. Thanks! Crossing my fingers that it continues to sync!

I did what someone else suggested.... forget device from Bluetooth and remove from Fitbit app and reinstall like it's a new Fitbit. I am now up and running!!

Hi to all. I have tried everything short of uninstalling my Blaze and reinstalling. Nothing worked. To top it off, I couldn't even get my Blaze to pair again with my iPad.

I picked up my iPhone to see how screwed up it was too. For whatever reason, Fitbit opened and synced immediately. I couldn't believe it. I went back to my iPad and got a message asking if I wanted to pair with BlueTooth. I said yes and was off to the races. My iPad FitBit app began working and has been syncing automatically now for about three hours.

So here is why this serendipitous fix happened - I have not updated my iPhone to 10.2 release. I meant to, but iPhone was not charged enough at the time. You can bet I'm not going to now update to 10.2 release until FitBit gets its act together.

Hope this helps someone with multiple devices.

Sandy

Anxiously waiting a fix as it hasn't synced in 5 days since the update.

I was skeptical, but what the heck... I will give it a try.  Actually worked!!!  In on the right time and my incredibly slow runs have synced.

I went to settings in my iPhone and told it to forget the blaze on the bluetooth, then I had the Bluetooth find it again and it sync'd. Whether it keeps working I'll let you know.

I made the mistake by making a new account and it is having trouble connecting

Exact same issue, half sync issues, tried removing it, now get the point of re-adding it as a device and it prompts for the number on the blaze, I type it in, the number goes away on the blaze and phone says "Connecting to Fitbit..." and NEVER completes. This really sucks now.

Awesome, Beta testing another release on unsuspecting users.  I'm sensing a pattern here.
