Draining battery

As of yesterday, my battery has completely drained after being fully charged. It dies within two hours.

I've had my Blaze for about a year and a half, and normally get 3-5 days out of a charge.  However, over last weekend, the battery life suddenly dropped so now it won't even last overnight.  The last two days, I've left it to charge all day, take it off the charger to wear it to sleep around 10:30 pm (the Blaze indicated a full battery), and by 6:00 am the battery is so dead I have to turn the tracker back on and it will only stay on for a few minutes.  I didn't change any setting before this started happening.  Turning off All day sync didn't fix it either.

The Blaze is my alarm clock so this is a big problem for me.  Any ideas?

My phone is a Sony Xperia X Performance, if that makes any difference.

I would like to also say that I'm experiencing the same thing. Not to hijack the thread, but just going with the "more voices, more action" avenue.

For me, it is worse -- its only lasting a few hrs before my Fitbit is blinking red. This is also, much like the OP stated, after charging overnight fully, and my phone saying that my fitbit is charged fully. I have noted, that this started happening after I upgraded (via the app) my fitbit. Fitbit version is v8.402.1. And, as the OP mentioned, this started happening just this past weekend and onward now (Wednesday).

This is also happening to me.  It holds a charge for about 3 hours, I'm very frustrated!

Same here. It started in July for me. I'm having to charge it daily and sometimes still won't make it into the night with a charge. I just talked to customer service and was offered a discount on another device. Unacceptable. It only worked for a little over a year, and obviously it's not just mine. Oh and I plugged it in this morning and didn't charge at all. It stayed on for a couple minutes then dead. Uugghh!

Literally the same exact thing has been happening to me this week. Got my Blaze June of last year and it’s always been great with charges then suddenly the past three days the battery has gone totally downhill. I charge it overnight and it’s almost dead the next evening. I think it was after the most recent update too..

Mine has been doing exactly the same thing since yesterday. I have changed nothing but it only holds its charge for about 12-24 hours. I am waiting for a reply from customer services.

I contacted Fitbit support and their solution was to offer me a 25% discount on a new Fitbit,  I guess that's not bad, considering I am about 6 months out of warranty and they really don't have to offer me anything.  However, the discount does not apply to the Ionic. If I am going to buy a new Fitbit, I would rather have the latest model, so I am not sure if I will use this discount or not.

The Fitbit agent also said there was no repair option.  So I guess that means the Blaze is a disposable item, like a razor or a tampon.

Yeah, I don't know. I mean, I guess if that's good enough for you, its good enough.

It just sucks that THEIR update is an extremely suspicious reason (at least for me, and several other people) caused this issue.

There's a firmware update thread here -- https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Blaze/Blaze-Firmware-Release-17-8-402-1/td-p/2199748/highlight/false... that has other people having this issue after the upgrade. Firmware updates can cause battery issues -- just look at how iOS11 has caused battery drain issues for people.

Anyways, thanks for letting us know the outcome. I just was hoping for a better solution. Customer service comes a long way, especially now in a somewhat saturated market of wearables; it makes people be loyal to a brand or not.

I just talked with customer support as well. They gave me the same answer as above and a 25% off discount code.  Pretty lame if you ask me as my watch was still working great until that update.

I never did the update to the Blaze but I think the firmware on it is that 402 version.  I looked at the version last night,  but I don't have it with me to check.  Is there an auto-update on the Blaze?  It does seem like the update is causing a lot of battery issues.

I believe you can check via fitbit.com, so you don't need your fitbit with you.

Maybe update this thread https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Blaze/Blaze-Firmware-Release-17-8-402-1/td-p/2199748/highlight/false... IF you really think that the firmware upgrade did cause the issue? I'm hoping that since that thread is dedicated to the firmware upgrade, it may get more visibility.

I was mistaken, on my Fitbit app it shows my Blaze is on 17.8.401.3. However, the app doesn't show any update available (which is why I had checked the version last night).

So unfortunately i was unaware of this issue as my Blaze was doing well. I just bought a used Blaze for my son and.... the battery only last 4 hours on it. Both are updated to the same (latest) firmware.
Is there a real solution or are there some good and some bad blazes and that's it?

Mine just started doing the same thing. I let it charge all night then I pulled it off the charger at exactly 10 am and by 2 pm I was getting the fit bit battery low email!

This is very frustrating

I too am getting this problem which I reported separately. My Blaze was 11 months and 3 weeks old and my solution was to take it back to the retailer that I bought it from and exchange it. However at the same time I upgraded to the Ionic and paid the difference in the price. Looking at the comments it looks like this fault may be due to the software update affecting the system or is it method by which Fitbit gets its community to upgrade from Blaze to Ionic?

I also want to say that I am having the same problem just one month after the warranty expired. The watch stopped holding a charge and now it won't work at all. I like the Fitbit, but given what I have read here, I am not so sure about buying another. These are expensive watches, and they should last more than one year. I would expect to get at least three years from such a device. Otherwise, they are just adding to immense e-waste problem.

There is a two year warranty on these in the UK. If you are still within the 2 years then I would take it back and get it replaced or do what I did and change model.

Hello all, I hope you are doing fine!

First of all, thanks all for troubleshooting this by yourselves. If your trackers aren't holding a charge, I recommend taking a look at this post and follow the instructions provided there. After these steps, please test your trackers. Also, if you want to check our warranty policy, you can do it.

Let me know the outcome. Woman Happy

Well, cleaning contacts didnt help and maximize the life is an insult. Why would i turn my $200 fitbit into a regular watch with zero functionality? No offense but it isnt that good looking. Warranty is a jone. 25% discount when you guys broke it w bad firmware.
I am getting a garmin or applewatch instead.
