I have had the new Charge 5 for 2 days. The battery discharges within a day. GPS is off, the phone is not set to always on. In looking over the troubleshooting instructions from Fitbit, it seems that you essentially have to disable all of the features that were selling points of this device in order to get decent battery life. Even my ancient Charge 3 got 6 days on one charge! Has anyone with this battery problem found a solution other than disabling everything?

I’ve just purchased the Charge 5. And the battery is terrible. I’ve only got the default setting. The batter lasted about 20 hours!!! I’ve got to charge it every morning. I have only had since last Wednesday.
UPDATE
I have since restarted my Charge 5. And that seems to have resolved the issue. From 99% to 78% in two days. My charge is running version 1.149.11

More disappointment in this device. The device seems to be tracking heart etc but it does not show in the app accurately. Sleep tracking is inconsistent also. Geez.

And most the new posts are consumers who just bought it. I thought Fitbit was being "transparent" about the problems on their website. I want a refund. This is absurd and so u ethical. Still selling them knowing they're completely defective at this point.

You are lucky to have an older Fitbit on hand to use.
Unfortunately I disposed of my older Fitbit upon buying the new one last fall. Like you stated I never needed to charge my Fitbit on a daily basis and then last week after an update my Fitbit can't hold a charge more than an hour or two.

I literally did nothing. Was charging frequently so checking it more and suddenly realized it simply didn't need to be charged so frequently. Again, I DID NOTHING.

Mine went through a phase of getting really hot, it’s stopped doing that now. They sent me a new charger, that wasn’t the problem so good luck!

Is there an ETA to this firmware?... I can literally use mine once a week when I go to the gym.... Its pretty useless the rest of the time for now as long as it needs to be charged literally every 3 hours after a full charge....

Customer support said “in a week” to me a week ago. I did one update which did nothing to help. The other day it said I had another update but the app couldn’t find my device because as you said it’s useless most of the week. I can get maybe one day of use out of it per week. Ridiculous.

I just got off the phone with customer support, they told me the firmware update should roll out by the end of next week.
My watch has been unusable for the past week, as my charge 5 cannot stay powered on without being connected to the charger. I never even used GPS with it. They mentioned this is a general battery issue.

I've owned my Charge 5 for about 90 days (early April), was getting about 4-5 days on a battery charge. Suddenly in the past week or so I lose the entire battery in less than 1 day. I can't wear it to sleep without waking up and it being dead. I've tried all the guides (verifying stuff is on/off, factory reset, restarting it, etc.).
I've owned Fitbits for years, this is BY FAR the most disappointing product they have released. The thing is a lemon.

Is there anyone here who can confirm.that the issue with battery drain is actually solved by a firmware update?

I have same problem, I think they made some changes in the firmware and that affects all of us in almost same time periods. I have a Black-screen, battery draining and green sensor lights not working.

I don't know, but I have been following this thread for about 2 months and read about people who started having the battery drain issue back in September 2021 and I still have NOT seen anyone say there was / is a firmware update that actually fixed the issue long term.

Nope, it hasn't been released so we dont know for sure if its really the firmware or some other problem like the batteries. Between the wide range of issues people have reported and the fact that it should not take this long for a firmware update, I am doubtful.
I will be more than happy to be proved wrong, lets hope it really does get released soon. Having a product with bugs is not great, but waiting more than 6 months for a fix is just plain unacceptable

So you have been working on a firmware update for four months!!! I've done all the tricks to restart, and it just dies in minutes.
I depend on my Charge 5 as a watch, a messenger, a step and exercise tracker, a sync to the Fitbit scale I have, And now it's dead in minutes. I belong to Fitbit Premium and link to Noom to track exercise and weight on my Fitbit Aria 2. All that is gone because of a firmware update that is taking months?? This is REALLY disappointing. And the guy I chatted with last Friday gave me the firmware update line.

I have spoken to them twice, and done everything they have asked, but it hasn't made a difference at all. They informed me I would receive an update for it today but nothing has been sent. I purchased mine in Nov so still within the year and would like to have new one issued. I intend to contact Amazon again to inform them that Fitbit have not addressed the problem to my satisfaction

Hello. I have been having the same rapid battery drain issues as the others who posted to this topic. Your 3/28/2022 Post is marked as the Answer to the user's Posts. You said that the problem has been identified as in the firmware and that a fix for it is being worked on. That was 4 months ago! Can you tell me what the status of the firmware update is please? (I have followed the tracker contact cleaning and tracker settings to avoid high battery info, did not make any difference). Thank you for elevating the extreme unhappiness that I and, evidently, many other customers have caused by this dehabilitating problem with the product.
