UPDATE III - I finally recharged yesterday when the battery was down to 7%. That means it dropped from 83% to 7% in 8 days. At this point, I am pleased with the result of the update on the new device.
I will say that it seems quite inconsistent that one person says their replacement came with the latest firmware already installed, while several of us have had to make the decision as to update or not.

@SunsetRunner
I'm glad to hear that yours is still working fine. Maybe they have fixed the problem and I can update mine without any worries. Mine is under warranty till December. I'm thinking I'll do the update and if it fails maybe I can get a replacement device before my warranty expires. If it doesn't fail then I have the updated device which you say works better than it did before.

Good to hear that yours is working fine after you updated. I'm getting a little more comfortable with updating mine. Maybe they have fixed the problem with the update after all.
Mine is under warranty until December. I may try the update and see if it works. At least if it fails I should be able to get a replacement before my warranty runs out.
Glad you've had good luck with your new one and the update.

Yes I would do so but do it while you’re on the phone with them that’s what I did that way I knew that it worked and they knew that I did it

Hello,
My fitbit charge 5 has not worked properly since the latest update (1 171.50).
Heart rate and O2 sensor not functional, and interment issues with auto restarts.
I have verified the latest software, restarted charge 5, updated the app, and cleared data. I do not have green lights.
Frustrated

@SunsetRunner
I had a discussion via their chat with someone who confirmed that I would be covered should the new unit also fail with the update before I went through the update. I bought mine in November last year, so like you, wanted to make sure to do it before the warranty ran out.

After reading all the comments, since I have not been able to download the update then I don't think I will. I should note that this is related to my husband's Charge 5. Regarding my own Charge 5 I had no problem downloading the update to mine which I purchased in November 2021 and have had no problems with mine. My husband's Charge 5 was purchased in April 2022. Not sure why there are issues.....

Hello @Pwjrad
Have you perform a full factory reset?
Why might this work? Sometimes when hardware has installed an update... a clean install is needed for the updated software to run properly on the hardware.
Let me know how it works out for you.

Well, I still haven’t updated my Charge 5 and the complaints about the update continue with no end in sight. Hopefully, Fitbit is working on an update and testing it thoroughly. I’m being annoyed by the app more frequently about installing the update. I may do that before my warranty runs out. 🙂
