It's good to hear that your replacement has a new version of the software that seems to work well. Please keep us posted about how it works and any issues you have with the new stuff. Maybe this is the light at the end of the tunnel...a newer version that has fixed the problems so many have had with the current update.

From what I see? Charge 5 is a loser. I had my first one for one year and it died, charger wouldn't work, black screen. I was sent a new one. It lasted less than 4 months. Same thing. Won't charge, black screen. So is there a fitbit that will do well in water (I swim) and will show sleep information/health information, oxygen, etc? Thanks. Going back to an old fitbit until I figure out what to buy next.

Yes, this firmware update 57.20001.182.26 may be a winner. So far, my Charge 5 replacement is holding a good charge still in the 90% range. No issues detected. My old Charge 5 would not hold a charge for one whole day. I keep googling to see when Fitbit will officially release a new firmware version, so far have not seen any new announcements.

I cannot remember if I have installed this update in July but since yesterday (6 Nov) I have been experiencing the issues with battery draining in less than 1 hour and notifications to add a card to wallet exactly as described by many users. My GPS is off and I have never had any issues with the battery until yesterday. It’s been six months since I bought my Charge 5.
Hi
I wonder if you could tell how this has ended for you? Did they help you?
Yesterday I started experiencing problems described by users who installed the update. The difference is that I have not installed it. At least not recently and I can’t remember if I did that in July when it was released.
I can see your device stopped working six months after purchase. This is interesting as I bought mine in May, exactly 6 months ago.
I am thinking of switching to Apple too. Tired of being frustrated with a piece of plastic.
Thanks for any advice!

Check your firmware version and see what it is using.

I checked my version, it is the dreaded 171.50 🙁 I must have installed it in July without thinking much. But why has it messed my Fitbit only yesterday?
How do you get a replacement?

Call tech support and if under warranty they will usually replace it. Otherwise they will eventually offer a 35% discount off of MSRP and you can buy another Charge 5 or some of the older models.

Thank you, I will do!
I contacted them earlier today before reading the forum and they did not mention half a word about the update issue.
Many thanks

They are still paddling furiously down the river of denial. Maybe up to a V-8 inboard setup by now...
Sad...

Solved, I am getting a replacement. Impressive customer service this time, but I’m afraid if it happens after my warranty period I will not want a Fitbit again.
It is sad indeed. They should be able to do something about this error or at least give the right advice to their loyal customers.

This question is directed to the forum moderator or the administrator
My Charge 5 warranty expires near the end of the month.
I tried ask this question to support in writing but they only go through Twitter.
I don't do Twitter and IMHO its recent actions signal it's fast end, but that's another topic.
So I telephoned support and spoke to a person whose 3rd language might be English, so no real help there. He did confirm however that there is a new "fixed" firmware version, which I am tempted to download.
My question to you is..
1) Is this true ?
2) Why hasn't this been announced in the forum?
(There has been a least one confirmation of this new firmware in a recent forum response.) **
These are simple questions and I think our community deserves a full response.
Thanks for your prompt reply in advance
S.
** Edit... I understand the firmware version is 20001.182.26

Can I ask how long ago did you receive your replacement?
I have read some people are on their 4th replacement already and not sure what happens when the warranty runs out after 12 months. I could not understand if they keep installing this update or not.
I am considering selling it on Ebay as soon as I receive it and buying something else instead to avoid the hassle.
Have Fitbit ever confirmed that it was the update that messed up these devices?
I wonder if Charge 5 comes with an inherent battery setting that makes it fail at some point so you have to buy a new one as soon as you warranty runs out and you cannot keep it forever like the older Charge versions.

Hi @Catwoman777
Are you aware if the warranty on the replacement starts afresh i.e do we get a complete 12 month warranty on the replaced unit as well ?
Thanks!

No. You only get through the remainder of the original, regardless of how many times you have to replace it.

I received my replacement yesterday (Wednesday), very quick turnaround considering the claim was made on Monday.
It did come with a version 20001.142.37. I have not upgraded. It reminds me of the update every time I use the app on the phone. I suppose this cannot be switched off. Working well so far.
