syncing ok but not saving history

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My Fitbit One is synching daily steps count just fine, but when it changes to the next day my previous day's information is no longer on the app. It has not saved any information in 15 days. This is not a problem of the device/app synching, which it does nicely every day. But rather a saving of the step count to the days previous.

Curiously if I go back about 15  days of 0 steps showing, on the 16th day in history the steps have been saved and show up. So there is this window of 16+ days including the current days as they become history, that shows the 0 steps. HELP

p.s. I have tried uninstall and reinstall of the app, twice. Open close phone.)

Foxtail24, I think "Google" is trying to force us to upgrade, too. That's really underhanded of them, if true. This issue is only involving ONE useres.

I was upset when they got rid of the computer dashboard, too.  It was so easy to read and navigate to the info you wanted, all in one place on a big screen.

And if that weren't enough, here's an article I just found today (published Sept. 26, 2024)

Fitbit.com is shutting down next week — what you need to know

p.s. I'll look into the Inspire 3. You say the unit is removable? I keep my One in a ankle holder  and if the Inspire 3 device is removable, it might work for me. fitbit One with ankle strap.jpg

jlmcgar, I'm very upset with google and their manipulating of Fitbit products, apps and their total disregard for us, its users.

Changing the user interface was the first atrocity, then removing the computer dashboard, and now this

ASBoyles, from all I've read and all the One users involved experiencing the same issue, my money is on Google doing absolutely nothing about it. It appears for all our attempts at notifying them of this issue, all they do is give a generic, we're working on it. Ya Right!

And now this, I found today:

Fitbit.com is shutting down next week - what you need to know

And that this issue involved the ONE device ONLY. Very fishy. Very disreputable to us faithful customers, if you ask me.

I'll check into the Inspire 3. Thank you Foxtail24.

Thanks for the link about Google killing the Fitbit.com page. That totally sucks as well! I guess I'll have to move all of my info to Google whether I want to or not. They'll probably kill this community too which won't make me happy. Still pretty frosted that they are killing off the One on the back end as mine was working great.

As for the Inspire 3 it is continues to work pretty well though for some **ahem**ed reason it decided to shut off sleep mode at 2:18 a.m. this morning so I had to fix that. Otherwise I like it. Yes, it is removable and has a separate clip that you can purchase from Amazon to put it in during the day. I also got a leather watch band for it to wear at night as the one that comes with it is flimsy and irritates my skin. It's kind of annoying to have to remove the band and then put it in the clip but I'm getting better at it. I think it will be a good tracker as long as Google doesn't screw it over as well.

| Such hogwash from Google!!! Instead of supporting the consumers and a company who built a superb product (in my eyes, 10 years strong!) they are allowing it to go down the tubes with us floundering in the wake, leaving a very bad taste in my mouth. I will not be purchasing a Google based product to replace my One. |

I've used the One for over 10 years, but since it doesn't hold a charge very long and no longer saves the week's steps, I purchased the Inspire 3. I still wear my one for stairs (for now), but I have to admit that I do like the detailed sleep and heart data with the Inspire 3. If you put in in sleep mode, it breaks down light/deep/REM/awake times so you get a little better picture of the quality. Step count is fairly accurate compared to the One when I've written both at the same time.

You can change it from on wrist to on body and put it at your waist by purchasing a clip (3-pack on Amazon is only $10). If it's not on your wrist it will not track heart rate, breathing, SPo2, extra sleep data, etc., but if you're not interested in that, I think it's a fair alternative...

I'll check the link about Fitbit to Google... that doesn't make me too happy. I, too, miss the desktop app.

So obviously the app is not going to be fixed. That's really just a giant middle finger to us happy and faithful One users 😠 I feel inclined to drop a swear word here, but I'll behave.

I'm with you, DeMommas, not wanting to buy any further google-connected fitbit product since they don't seem to give a hoot to the consumer.

I still can NOT believe Google is treating us consumers like this, nor what they've done to an exemplary product, destroying everything good about the original Fitbit products, the awesome, user-friendly, informative and colorful app, and dashboard system it was connected to.

And then to shaft all the One device owners by causing the app to go wonky and not register data.

But we're talking Google here, so what can we do. There's hardly a rock big enough for us "David's" to throw at the megalithic Google-Goliath.

I'm beyond bummed.

Thank you for staying in touch. It's been a pleasure to talk to you and the others in our little sinking One boat.

ASBoyles, my One still holds a charge very well. I've had mine for over 10 years, too, now. But its not showing steps after any current day is beyond annoying, especially when I get my weekly stats from Fitbit which does show my actually weekly count. even when the app shows 0 on most of the days of that week.

As for buying an Inspire 3, I'm not sure I will because in this article published Sept. 26, further on down it says Google may stop the whole Fitbit line of products and incorporate it into their smartwatches.

One of the people who have replied to this inquiry mentioned they'd gotten hold of someone who said they would look into it and fix it. But that was weeks ago, and if this whole data-not-registering error is with the intended purpose of having us all upgrade to the Inspire or whatever, than no, they probably won't fix this.

And as far as you're wanting to drop a swear word but intending to behave, I think it is Google who should step up and be honest with us and not do this underhanded business in an attempt to manipulate us.

Fyi - out of desperation, I bought the Inspire 3 and a clip from Amazon.  Doesn't come with clip. Just started using it today, but the app did not recover all my missing history for the last month.  Really hate all the zero days, but I'll see tomorrow if it actually stores today's steps or not.

Just downloaded today's app update - did not fix the problem. 😞

The zero days persist, unfortunately, though the server saves your totals and will give you credit for them at the end of the week. It's kinda like starting over in some ways as I have two weeks blank thanks to the One fiasco but at least my Inspire 3 is working well. I hope it works out for you too.

I just got the Inspire 3 and ordered a clip for it. I don't like wrist trackers.  It seems to be working today, but it did not recover any of my missing history for the last month. Did yours?  We will see if it reverts to zero tomorrow or if it actually stores my steps.

Same. Did not fix mine either.

I only wear it on my wrist at night when I go to bed and it seems to do a good job of tracking my sleep. The REM, deep, and light sleep info is interesting though frankly I preferred to just push the One button when I turned out the light and push it again when the alarm went off. So much scrolling and tapping and hoping the silly thing is actually in sleep mode and stays there! Otherwise I use the clip during the day as I also don't like wrist trackers. Besides, if I'm gonna wear something on my wrist it will be my nice watch!

Is the app showing your steps from the Inspire 3? And am I correct that only the One records floors? I rather like getting credit for all the flights of stairs I climb each day!

Best Answer

So far, the inspire 3 is working (only got it today).  I don't know enough about it (seems to have a lot more features), but I pretty much just track steps, distance and calories burned. I'll keep you posted to see if it stores my history.
