The Jumping June step challenge is nearly over so it’s time to sign up for July. Jaunty July? Yeah, well, it is super hot in the Northern hemisphere, and super cold in the Southern hemisphere, so it is best just to have a little attitude about your steps and get at it. 🙂
How It Works:
The primary purpose of these monthly challenges is to keep track of your daily step goals for the month; though many of us track other things as well, like body weight exercises, sleep, trips to the gym, logging food, etc. This is not a competition to see who can do the most of whatever, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of the monthly total you can hit your goal.
Some might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and others might have a variable goal throughout the week, (and some might even plan days off!) for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = “6k steps a day,” or “not tracking”
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for the monthly challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved out of the monthly minimum and or monthly total
Although you certainly don’t have to post daily, you’ll likely stay closer to what you set out to do by updating the thread several times/week
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and need to scale back due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

I saw a coyote while jogging about an hour before sunrise. It was a bit afraid of me after I called it Breakfast.
Nice pictures.

That's more accurate than you could have known. Most people don't let their cats out anymore as they get hit by cars, and well-meaning people take them to the animal shelter because they think the cats are lost. Then the owner has to pay a $200 ransom to get them out.
Since the cats disappeared, the rabbit population has grown tremendously.
A few years ago, a big feral cat colony formed that had only black cats and grey tiger cats. They have spread everywhere within a mile or so of the University.
Somehow, this caused a rabid skunk population to grow as well as the porcupine population. I'd never seen a porcupine in our area until last year. There are also bears that wander the neighborhood at night. They never knock over garbage cans, so I don't know what they are up to. Once, a bear took a nap in my front yard.
Mosquitos have completely disappeared, as have the bees.
Recently, something really strange happened. Many homeless people stopped eating junk food and became vegetarians. They call it comfort food. They combine everything into a big pot like the old-time hobos.

35 Jumping Jacks 22 days -- 21/22

With the rash on my feet slowly improving I’m gonna pull out all the stops and get 15,000+ steps, do my JJs, and work out with the weights. If I also manage a Jaunty Walk (#2!) I’ll let y’all know.
@Baltoscott — thanks for the awesome ‘Anything Goes August’ challenge. Will chime in there soon.
@Ennay — sure hope you can get your fitbit syncing regularly again. I know how annoying that can be.
Tonight’s a big lunar eclipse, visible in Europe (aren’t we lucky?). Every hilltop is alresdy full of people hoping to watch (at least catch a glimpse), and/or take a few photos — including Peter, my husband. For me it suffices if I can see a bit of it from the comfort of my own terrace. Happy weekend Peeps! 😊

@Jotex- sadly my fitbit has never sync'd well. I'm not sure if it is my fitbit or my phone. Usually even though I have it on always sync it grabs once or twice a day, usually at night only. I sometimes want to do a factory reset on my phone, but I'm always afraid of losing all my stuff.
Ugh - only 8.5K steps and 2269 burn yesterday, but the month is still in reach with 2 days to go. I need just under 3K steps a day, but 2720 burn a day to make it. No napping!
Another hot one. So looking forward to Seattle next week where it is at least a few degrees cooler. Plus the heat wave is supposed to break on Wednesday. I hope so, we have a daytime baseball game that day and it always feels even hotter in the stadium. I can't remember if I have any shade where I got the seats for the day game. I hope we are back far enough to catch upper deck shade.

Sorry to hear that, but it might be worth a try. I don’t know what kind of phone you have, but you should be able to back it up before you do a reset, and then restore afterwards.
I seem to have gone a step too far yesterday (pun intended) as I have stiff joints, at least my right leg is stiff. Or it could be due to the change in weather — from HOT (as a firecracker) and dry to cooler and rainy.
When it’s either too hot (sunny) or wet (raining) to go outside, time to work on a few projects, like quilted throw pillows and lavender eye pillows. 😊
