Inspire & Inspire HR Battery Issue

ANSWERED

Fitbit update: 4/9/19 Our engineers have added the Stats Heavy and Valerie clockfaces back into the gallery. Feel free to re-install them if you had recently removed them due to battery concerns.

Our team was recently made aware of an issue which may be affecting some users battery life while using certain clockfaces on Inspire and Inspire HR. We are currently looking into this and hope to have a fix identified soon.

In the meantime, I recommend switching to one of these three clockfaces: Simple Stats, Shifted, or Analog. After some testing, our team has determined that switching to the above clockfaces should help alleviate potential battery drain.

If you are experiencing short battery life after switching to one of the clockfaces above, I also recommend performing a quick restart and following the troubleshoots listed in this article.

As always, I will be sure to keep you all in the loop as more information becomes available. Feel free to let me know if you have any additional insights or questions. Thanks again!

I would go back to the One if I could. I worked perfectly for me.

I bought my Inspire HR last Nov., it has always been connected to my Samsung Galaxy S7, it is set to All Day Sync, for the first 2 months I left it as the default clock face, but in late Jan, early Feb I switched it to the digital clock, up until about 3 weeks ago I could get 4-5 days from a full charge, about 3 weeks ago that dropped to 3 days, this last charge lasted less that 2 full days. I have not changed anything in my settings on my watch or my phone the entire time I've owned this Inspire.

You're not alone; read through these many, many posts. 😞

Try turning off your alarms if you have any on. I know my battery drained due to my Fitbit silent alarms the way you described

I've turned off all notifications except the get up and move alert. I've talked to Fitbit customers service last night and they are replacing it after seeing that I've done all troubleshooting.

Not sure why we should be having to give actual details for customer support to deal with?

I mean... don't these people who work for Fitbit.. actually like.. you know.. test out their products before they release them? This battery issue should have been caught before this product was even released to customers.

I had 30% battery left on my Fitbit Inspire and I went to a 5K race. By the time I drove to the race, waited around for it to start and when I finished, it was already dead. This was over the course of 2 hours. Unacceptable.

When I got home I charged it to 100%. The next day it was already down to 38%. This is without notifications, manual sync with Simple Stats clock face. I can't believe they don't sell the Fitbit One anymore and we are stuck with the Inspire junk

You're saying what so many people are feeling. I'm quite amazed FitBit, which has been a star performer in this industry, isn't addressing this more thoroughly, more quickly and more competently. Anyone I know who's purchased this is having battery issues so this is clearly a huge problem.

Interestingly enough, my experience with this Inspire might be what finally convinces me to get an Apple watch.

Also, if you want the FitBit One, you can usually find previous FitBits on Amazon or eBay. I just charged my AltaHR; even with a crack in the screen, it's far more reliable.

I have an Apple Watch myself. The only reason why I use a Fitbit at all is for the challenges with coworkers and my employmer has a monthly contest where if we walk over 250 miles we are entered to win a $50 gift card. I've won twice. If it wasn't for these contests/challenges I wouldn't ever buy a Fitbit. Especially after they decided to discontinue the best Fitbit out there, the One.

One thing I don't get. I charged my Fitbit Inspire from 38-44% about 2-3 hours ago and it's down to 40% from 44%. So how the heck did it lose 4% this time, but 30% during a 5K race. It doesn't make sense.

You are correct.  While Fitbit did not admit that they have battery failure, apparently in large numbers, they did replace my device.  I am happy to report that my replacement has been on for 54 hours and still has 53% charge remaining.  Beth

My new inspire hr will not hold a charge for one day let alone five! Any ideas or did I get a dud?

I too received my new device. So far, I am not getting truly great battery use but it seems  better. I'm near the end of my second day after a full charge and it's still at 55% whereas the first InspireHR I had would have been below 30% by now. Truly hoping that for all of the folks who bought this new device, the issue gets addressed.

All I have enabled is Get Moving, it hasn't changed since I first set it up, this battery has dropped of over the past 3 weeks, it was holding for 5 days up until 3 weeks ago, at that point, I was recharging every 3 days, this last recharge was barely 2 days.

Hello @Burgy333 thanks for joining the Fitbit Community, it's great to have you on board.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. I have moved your post from the iOS board to the Inspire board as this situation is related to the device and not the app itself. At this moment, I would like to ask yo to restart your Inspire:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Hold the other end of the charging cable near the port on the back of the tracker until it attaches magnetically. The pins on the charging cable must connect securely with the port.
  3. Press and hold the button on your tracker for 5 seconds.
  4. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.

Then, charge your device for 1 to 2 hours or until the battery is full. Sync your device after taking it out of the charging cable. Monitor it for the next days, syncing it at least 2 times during the day. When the battery gets low, sync it again.

Give these steps a try and if the battery is still draining faster than usual, reply to us so we can check this further. Thanks for your patience and understanding, have a great day.

I just purchased a Fitbit inspire HR about 3 weeks ago. It’s dead now and won’t recharge. Do I need to do something special to get it to recharge or did I get a dud?

Hi all! Just wanted to check in here.

As many of you are aware, the Valerie and Stats Heavy clockfaces have been added back to the Gallery. So feel free to re-install them if you have removed them from your Inspire/HR.

I understand that changing clock faces may not resolve everyone's battery issues and I just wanted to assure you that our engineers are still investigating ways to improve battery life and I thank you for your continued patience as they do so.

For any newcomers to this thread who may be experiencing short battery life, I can also recommend checking out the tips detailed in this article.

I will be sure to keep you all in the loop as more information becomes available. If you have additional questions, you know where to find me!

It seems that they have a batch of bad batteries.  Call costomer service for a replacement.

Has anyone noticed that the Inspire gives more steps than the other Fitbit
trackers? I wore both the Alta HR and Inspire HR at the same time. My
Inspire gave me an extra 1500-1800 a day. I also noticed the other day
while I was writing in my planner while in bed, the Inspire gave me 500
steps. Anybody else having an issue with the step count?

@toniecet Yep, there are about a dozen threads on how horrible the step count is too, when compared to other Fitbit and other brand activity monitors. I had over 700 steps this morning before getting out of bed!

The top three persistent complaints here since getting mine in early February are:

1) Battery life - I'm fortunate to not have this problem, getting 7 days on a charge

2) Ridiculously high step count (although it is reasonably close when on a walk.) It just goes nuts on *any * movement.

3) super tiny text for number of steps and heart rate, especially for those of us without young eyes.

Good luck, there have been a lot of people who have either received replacements or simply returned them.
