Fitbit Update 1/10/19:
Hi all! Big thanks to everyone for your feedback on the release of Fitbit OS 3.0!
Since the majority of users have now updated to 3.0, I will be closing this thread from further comments to help keep our community discussions on-topic.
If you are experiencing an issue outside of the firmware update process, I invite you to start a new thread on this forum and we will be happy to assist you there. Thanks again and happy stepping!
Fitbit Update 12/26:
Hey, everyone! We're aware that some of you may have noticed a fast battery drain on your Ionic watches after completing this firmware update. Our team is investigating the root cause of this issue and whether it was caused by this update or other factors are involved.
In the meantime, if you're experiencing this problem please try a restart on the device then consider switching to a Fitbit made clock face! Many 3rd party clockfaces (especially those with animations) are known to use up more battery. If you try this out and are still seeing a fast battery drain, we can connect you with Customer Support for next steps or you can reach out to them and create a case.
We look forward to getting you all back on track!
Fitbit Update 12/22:
We've released Fitbit OS 3.0 out to 100% of users. Please make sure you have the latest version of the Fitbit app (2.84) before downloading the newest firmware.
We're excited for you all to have the newest Fitbit OS, but please let us know if you have any questions about this update. Happy Holidays, everyone!
Hi, everyone!
I am excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 3.0! (Firmware Version: 27.33.1.30)
We've started to roll out this update to 20% of Ionic users. This is a progressive rollout, and all Ionic users can expect to have it soon. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
WHAT'S CHANGED?
Please check out this help article to see what's new in this update.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Ionic can be found here. We recommend updating your Ionic over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Ionic to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into trouble updating your Ionic, please follow these steps:
If anyone isn't seeing the Today app after updating, please try the following:
1. Make sure you're running the newest version of the Fitbit app.
2. Connect to Wi-Fi in the Fitbit app, plug your Ionic into the charger and let it sit. This will automatically update the Today app.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have questions, please let me know in this thread!

Darn! When you open Today on your Ionic and scroll down to bottom, click on the Settings button and then scroll down. Do you see a list that you can select which you want displayed under Today?

Strange but good.
My ionic always gave me trouble.
Now, after the update, it works perfectly.
The update procces was smooth too.
I was loosing my hope on Fitbit.
Even the songs are easily download into the watch.
For me, the update was awesome!
I still miss the option to view the weight logged in a clockface.

Text and calendar notifications aren’t working with my iPhone since the update. Calls stills work. Have shut down and restarted a couple of times, Is there a fix?
also, I can’t get notifications from iPhone apps that were available before - weather, traffic, etc. I can still get them on my Blaze but not on the Ionic.

Can someone verify that the Labs Tennis app isn't compatible with 3.0?
I've tried to install it twice and it goes through the install process but then goes back to [install] instead [installed].
Thank you.

Which face were you using? Developer? Has the new firmware been working properly since picking another face?

My Fitbit Ionic totally died during the update. It won’t charge or anything. It’s dead.

“I have to force quit the app, then it says the update failed, then it says there is a new update, then it eventually accepts the reality that the watch is already updated.”
“Told me it failed but it has eventually admitted installation happened.”
Yep. Same. As noted -> just completely ignore this false info and continue on with the update. Do not tap stop. Fitbit needs to change code so these false “error” pop ups do not appear. While it took me 10 min -> others took 8 hours or even worse look to have bricked their watches with this 3.0 update code.

Has there been a solution identified for when the Ionic just flashes the Fitbit logo repeatedly? I have attempted a hard reset 5 times today, unpairing it from Bluetooth, uninstalling the app, deleting my device from the app, etc. and my watch is still useless and flashing the Fitbit logo.

You are correct. It is not installing. It might be a compatibility issue.
Thank you, I wish I would have stayed on the previous version.

My ionic is possessed it turns on and off by itself after the update and counts steps on its own even when I'm not wearing it or I'm asleep

For those with the stuck flashing fit bit logo ,I had this on my original ionic and tried everything via Fitbit support to get it working and no success ,Fitbit replaced the device .Since then it sat in draw around 5 months.I decided to get it out and mess around with it ,It had obviously ran out of battery so I put it on charge ,this time it was showing a red X and update failed try again .
So I decided to have a go setting it up via my daughter's iPhone Xs( a different device to the one I originally used) .I left it on charge and manage to get it installing via setting up from start as a new device ,once set up it said there was a doftwsof update ( was running .19)
So again set it off updating and it worked no problem.,so a device bricked 4 or 5 months ago via a software update ,is now back working again .I'm sure Fitbit support will be interested in this .

This company should be investigated and sued for false advertising and consumer fraud. This app DOES NOT WORK WITH THEIR OWN PRODUCTS. It does not sync. They lie and claim its a thousand other issues while they push out new devices (that won't sync either) and advertise as if everything is OK. I swear I thought I learned my lesson with the Charge HR 2 but now this Ionic has really got me pissed off. WHY WON'T YOU FIX YOUR **ahem** PRODUCTS?!?!?

Seriously Fitbit,
- Don’t release an update before the holiday break unless you seriously tested the crap out of it. You’ll be getting plenty of new customers and you need bug free software to make that impression.
-test your work!
-smoke test, beta test, make sure you have code reviews. Is there a technical director setting a standard? What about a ux designer making sure it’s smooth and clean.
-quality control please! Can I work there and just tableflip ?
Love my ionic, but every time I see an update a sense of dread hits me because it either forces me to reset to factory or a feature is poorly implemented.
Weather app no longer works, and I still see 3 tile options, also today takes too long to load.
