Hello Ionic family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1.3.
We started releasing this new update to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases aren’t distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside.

@Hebrews12-1Grrrr! Should be simple to fix. Big bang for the buck. Oh well. Thanks for letting me know!

Based on the way they moved the icon away from the actual buttons, my guess is that change was intentional and not a "bug". I don't think they have any intention of changing it back the way it was.

@Hebrews12-1 Really?? Wow, I had not noticed that. Well, to intentionally make a change like that makes no sense whatsoever. When I contacted customer support, it was impossible to get the mealy-mouthed support person to give me a straight answer on whether it was a bug or intentional.

I too am now having issues connecting to GPS on my Ionic. I've used the watch for GPS runs repeatedly over the last 7 weeks, with over 30 runs, without issue. Searching began towards the end of my run on Monday (1st June 2020) and hasn't been able to find a connection since.
I've tried all of the steps in the link, as well as a factory reset on the device to no avail.
This too seems linked to the new firmware update as my issues appeared around the same time as the numerous others on this thread.

If my math is right, in the last 7 weeks, you may have had 2 separate updates applied. Since you noticed the issue on June 1, do you remember if your Ionic got the update and when?

The issue only began occurring on June 1. It worked fine on the 25th May, though I did start a walk on the 20th May, but cancelled after around 30 seconds as it didn't connect and I was only walking.
Previous to the 25th it was working at least 5 times a week. I'm not sure when the update happened as I don't recall the firmware version prior to performing a factory reset on the 2nd June to attempt to resolve the GPS issue. It's showing as 27.70.8.0 now.

Hi Hebrews12-1 & EdwardsWM,
I have only used Bike on the latest FW. Yes, I have to start the Bike exercise - but on a positive note, the automatic pause/start function is much more reliable than I remember it on my previous Versa. Plus the GPS map of the route is a nice edition.

Has anything changed with the software update (meaning, has it been improved after these issues)?
I'm still afraid to install the update.
Please confirm there is something new today, compared to the original release...

Better don't do this update. I don't know why they release this new update with such a big bad problems all over the world. Ionic without HR senzor is useless. I don't need notifications from watch. If you want to do this update I wish you good luck

Was my Ionic stolen by Fitbit? I went into my app and updated to 70.7.27. Hours later it went completely dark and I can’t get it to come back. Did I get bricked? I’m really disappointed. 25% off to buy a new one. I’m not happy about this at all. I really liked the Ionic. I take really good care of my devices. My Ionic should still be working. I did not do anything to cause it to break. It had 95% battery life and just went dark and won’t come back. I talked to support via text and phone. They suggested I buy another one and sent me 25% off. Unacceptable. I want my Ionic back.

Since Fitbit won't guarantee a seamless update and would only offer 25% off on out of warranty watches, it is only fair to ask to add the capability to defer the update. All other devices/computers etc. I own let me apply or defer the update(s). Can we get the ability to defer the update in the app?
If that already exists, can anyone who knows how to get rid of the Update Available box post here so that I can defer the update indefinitely instead of getting nagged about it?

Hi I would like you to open a case for me too as my ionic has the same problem as many of the others, totally bricked, it wont start up and blank screen. I have tried everything you have suggested but nothing seems to work. It is clear that this is due to the update as my watch was working perfectly before it downloaded it. Please open a case for me.
