Hello Ionic family!
We’re excited to announce the release of Fitbit OS 4.1.3.
We started releasing this new update to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases aren’t distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside.

Change your clock face from the phone app to the default numeric one, synch. Restart the fitbit. It should then show the clock face. Then you can switch to your old one.
I think that is what was posted in the January update thread to resolve this. You should thank your lucky starts it did not brick your device.

Installed the update now my Fitbit won’t sync even after the uninstall and reinstall of the app. Shutdown of the watch and forget this device.
You acknowledged this new update and the new iso is an issue when will it be fixed?

Hi Ceebee86,
This morning (just now) my Ionic would not sync. It was OK for a couple of hours last night after the latest update.
I'm on Android 9. What I had to do was go into the phone settings>Apps & notifications>Fitbit. FORCE STOP and then in Storage I hit CLEAR CACHE. Then restarted the Fitbit app and I was able to sync and get Bluetooth and wifi connections working on the Ionic..
Not sure if this is an android issue (doubt it) Fitbit app issue or a device issue?
Gee, this stuff reminds me back in the day trying to get Windows 95 and 98 working nicely!
Always trying to fix something! At least W10 just works with few issues!
*EDIT* seems to be syncing ok 9 hours after I had to force stop the app in Android. Still occasionally needs a manual sync - but IS syncing without much delay - for now anyway.

I have had that happen before after an update. It goes dark and no sign of life Yours might just be off. Try to press and hold the left and bottom right buttons at the same time until you see the Fitbit logo.

I think the 'new normal' for a reboot is all 3 buttons for 10 seconds. Why oh why they decided that was better? I will not know.

An obvious Q, but has anyone successfully installed this update and determined what the Bug fixes and enhancements are yet ?
If we can determine what they are, maybe we can then decide if the reward is greater than the risk

more problems
The touch screen is going nuts. It keeps bouncing between screens when I touch it. Or it doesn't respond at all.
I can't get the settings screen to do a factory reset

I have been attempting to update my Fitbit for a week now. I have made an attempt to update in different locations to try different internet services and nothing. As soon as it looked like it was updating over Bluetooth, 30 minutes later I look to see nothing has been update. I am paying for a special Pandora subscription to listent to it on my watch and now I can't even listen to it because my Fitbit will not update. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app - nothing. I have restarted my watch - nothing.

I updated my iOnic to the latest firmware without problem.
I was not using the normal way to update.
1. Remove iOnic device from Fitbit apps. Remove iOnic from bluetooth list.
2. Factory reset iOnic. (You can do a factory reset from Setting on the watch. This is a new added function.)
3. Add back to Fitbit apps just like you just have a new iOnic.
I believe these updates are built on the factory setting. Do a factory reset BEFORE any update is safer .
I will update my iOnic this way for future releases.
Note: Please do not try my way if your device has been through several updates. It might brick your Ionic.

@sytzeng just tried to factory reset my ionic and now it will not turn back on. It did not take the update so I figured I would give this a try and now its toast.

Good for you in finding a "safe" way to update - but this is absolutely NOT the way a tech company should be releasing firmware changes.
To HELP all the Ionic users out there, I've informed more than half a dozen tech media sites about this issue so they can get the word out on the potential dangers of installing this update.

That is actually NOT the recommended way to try and initiate an update and is certainly not a 'safe' way either. Firmware changed are released due to a phased rollout and totally not dependent on whether you have factory reset the watch or whatever. I can testify to this as I have tried this several times in the past without success and have had to wait for the Fitbit servers to release it in my location.
