Same here, last 2 updates took 10+ hours to complete. Impossible to find a slot that long where you can miss both a phone ans functioning watch... Here after 4 failures on my home wifi progress bar moved 1mm after 1 hr... stopped the process... I think i'll forgo firmware updates. The new features added don't warrent hours of your time lost and days of an unusable watch & phone...
I did stay on the same wifi, watch stayed on my desk close to the phone. WiFi worked fine at all times. Phone is a Samsung Galaxy S6

Last night it looks like it nearly got to the end. I can’t get it done it’s too slow. I’m on WiFi ephemeral plugged into power Fitbit plugged into power 99% charged. Tried 3 times now.

Turning on download booster did not work.
However what did work was turn on the wireless hotspot on the phone (so your phone creates its own wifi network using its 3G/4G connection to connect to the internet. And setting up this hotspot as WiFi connection on the fitbit. The update worked then from go one and installed in 5 mins!!

I have similar problems, ionic refuses to connect to any wifi, all my other devices work ok with my 2.4 wifi.
I have now connected to my pc via bluetooth and given up on the android app (on Huawei mate 10 pro).
Maybe the update goes through, it now estimates 70 min setup time when 10% is downloaded on my 100Mbit line.Slow as %&#¤%&/##....

Indeed, turning on hotspot on the phone, having ionic connect to that does work for me too.
took about 5 minutes.
Great solution !
thanks,

I attempted the firmware update over Bluebooth (big mistake), failed after almost 4 hours, went home, and the app began to restart the set up, connected to WiFi, and the watch restarted the update and is working fine.

... If all updates go smoothly I wouldn't be looking at this post on the forum. Why is this an accepted solution?
