Try to restart it. Also, FWIW, both times mine updated, it took about 3 or
4 tries. It finally updated (after about 5 min) even though it looked like
it wasn't updating. Still a pain though, huh? As for me, I took it off a
couple days ago after being totally frustrated with super high inflated
step counts. And you know what, I feel better. I'm still walking and
taking the long way around and not bothered by constant tracking and a big
ol device around my wrist.
Your solution is stop wearing the expensive fitness watch that you bought? Cool story.

- it is not cool that someone concluded that this is solved while obviously others still face problems. Maybe that person could explain here on what basis she decided that it was solved?
- it is also not cool to reply with cynicism to comments of others, it does not bring a solution closer
Cool. Story.

I didn't say this was resolved. If someone did, it was the Fitbit folks,
not me. I'm more than done with this thing.

Best AnswerHoi Jillccc,
These things obviously aren't perfect just yet ![]()
Last week I was travelling by motorcycle. After one full day on the road driving, the Ionic told me that I had walked 9500 steps while in reality, I had been sitting the whole day.
Probably, the riding vibrations on the bike were confused with steps. I will now check if I have the same effect when driving a car.
Best AnswerAfter an entire night to download it’s still stuck at the beginning. I’ve restarted my phone several times, rebooted the watch several times, forgotten all other devices, switched to and from Bluetooth and even started the whole process of a new watch over twice. Please help. I’ve had my watch for over a week and can’t get t to work.
I have spent all evening and next morning trying to get thru the setup and nothing is working trying all the steps listed over and over. Taking this back.
Best AnswerI tried everything Support suggested, starting, restarting phone, watch, etc, etc multiple times. Finally tried (at suggestion of someone on these boards, not official support) to do a factory reset of the watch and it worked/updated first time.
According to a quick google search:
Best AnswerI have tried everything and I still cant get past the initial setup, so frustrated. not trying again. Going to return this its a waste of time, going on 2 days now.

Best AnswerI'm having the exact same problem together with many others it seems.
The workaround that works for me is setting my smartphone in 4G.
Then enabling hotspot
Then connecting the ionic to that hotspot (using the fitbit app on the smartphone adding wifi connection to hotspot)
and then upgrade is possible albeit using up bandwidth from my 4G dataplan.
This is a workaround, but it should have been fixed a long time ago !!!

@chrizz Welcome to the Fitbit forums! Thanks for taking the time to share the workaround that has helped you out. I'm sure other users will find this very useful too. Did you finally sent it back?
@Jillccc I hope you're doing well! Thanks for providing your suggestion on this and for sharing your experience on this thread. I'm glad that customer support was able to replace yours.
Regarding the headphones; here is a thread I found that is about that same situation. I'd recommend taking a look at the discussion there for more help.
Hope this helps. Keep me posted!

Best AnswerI am having same problems and it has been an expensive piece of crap. I'm giving up on it and bought a smart watch which is what I thought this was supposed to be.
Best AnswerSeriously? If updating the firmware on this device is this problematic, you may want to look into why it's happening and fix it properly. Updating firmware is not a new concept. I've had several devices over the past thirty years that were firmware updateable. In the early days there were issues like this but rarely do I even notice most firmware updates anymore because it normally happens automatically and is seamless. I have tried several times to update my Ionic. Stuck at just over 60% each time. Tried pluging it directly into my PC tonight. Instead of updating, it complains about Fitbit Connect "or other apps that are trying to use Fitbit Base Station". I purchased one of your top-end products Fitbit. Please put some time into making it work properly.
