The notification feature on the Ionic is very unstable as are a lot of the apps. I am finding that they don't work more often than do. It is very frustrating. Especially when Fitbit continues to introduce more features that have the same issues.
Last week, I updated the firmware on my Fitbit Ionic and lost all notification functionality -- no call, no text, no calendar. This update did provide the new Quick Reply feature which is useless without receiving notifications.
This morning I spent an hour or more on the phone working with Fitbit Tech Support and made no progress.
Perhaps legislation should be created that prevents advertising or charging for a feature if it does not work reliably for more than 1% of the customers that use it. And if it initially is reliable and is made unstable by an upgrade compulsory refunds should be made.

I've tried all tips and tricks - Android 7 - Samsung S6 - Latest firmware on Ionic - latest app update.
Still no notifications, test call notification has never worked.
Is there a solution for the problems ? @MaginB

I thought maybe the iOS app update fixed my notifications, but like all other fixes it was only temporary. I can’t spend all day resetting my ionic to receive notifications. Fitbit needs to fix the problem or this will my last fitbit purchase. I have owned the fitbit one, surge, blaze, ionic, aria 1 and 2. My ionic worked when I bought it but fitbit’s updates has broken its functionality. Will no longer recommend fitbit. Considering garmin viviofit 3 or Apple Watch

I too am having the same problem since the firmware update. I don't receive text message notifications but when I was driving through an area that had no cell service I did get a notification on my message+ that messages will be over wifi... I also notice when you go to app notification on the fitbit app it shows the default messaging program but it is ghosted out and showed unchecked even though notifications are turned on.
This is absolutely ridiculous that this very expensive piece of equipment constantly has notification issues... Fitibit should be ashamed of themselves for selling this piece of garbage and not being able to fix it.

Finally got the SOB to work. I opened the Messenger+ app, went to settings and turned on the top three options having to do with the status bar. When I did this, everything worked.
Below are some screen shots that I hope will help:
Unfortunately, I did not get them in order. The only other option I have clicked on is receiving network notifications -- not shown need to scroll down. It involves data plan use so most people might want to click this off.
I must say, I am not impressed how FitBit handled this. It seems their developers do not understand their own programs. Having done a fair amount of software design, it seems like it would be relatively simple to trace the data flow and correct the problem. Perhaps I am missing something....
I would be interested if this works for anyone else... Thanks.

I read your articles and tried every combination for over an hour and none worked. Get you software sorted or take the hardware back 🤬

The response from Fitbit support was to make sure I turned on notifications. Really? What kind is support is that? I sent them a photo of the watch showing the notifications was on. No further reaponse from them. Really disappointed in fitbit. Will be switching to another platform.

I deleted the fitbit app from my phone and restarted everything. My notifications are working. Even the messenger +

I just deleted the Fitbit app and reinstalled it from the Google app store and I'm receiving notifications now. Before doing that I tried all the recommendations on help and nothing worked.
So I would highly recommend that anyone having trouble receiving notifications to reinstall the Fitbit app and perform your setup over from scratch. This is what has worked for me.
