Ionic Not Receiving Notifications Since Update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The notification feature on the Ionic is very unstable as are a lot of the apps. I am finding that they don't work more often than do. It is very frustrating. Especially when Fitbit continues to introduce more features that have the same issues.

Last week, I updated the firmware on my Fitbit Ionic and lost all notification functionality -- no call, no text, no calendar. This update did provide the new Quick Reply feature which is useless without receiving  notifications.

This morning I spent an hour or more on the phone working with Fitbit Tech Support and made no progress.

Perhaps legislation should be created that prevents advertising or charging for a feature if it does not work reliably for more than 1% of the customers that use it.  And if it initially is reliable and is made unstable by an upgrade compulsory refunds should be made.

SantiR,

Let me share my experiences.   Previously I used a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge phone with my Ionic and sometimes all notifications would just stop, so I'd reset the Ionic or the phone or both and usually it got the notifications working again.  Then in January this year I bought a new Samsung Galaxy S10+ phone and paired it with my Ionic.   Now the notifications seemed to work better.  There were still the occasional times that I wouldn't received a notification BUT for the most part it worked fine.  Until just over a week ago.  Since then notifications of TEXT messages has NOT been working.

I get phone call notifications, calendar notifications, gmail notifications, even app notifications BUT NO TEXT MESSAGE notifications.  Doesn't matter if it is single text or group text, regular txt or MMS message, I don't receive any text notifications.

I called fitbit support, ran through all the troubleshooting like resetting devices, reinstalling the app, etc. and finally their "best" suggestion was that I BUY A NEW PHONE THAT IS ON THE SUPPORTED PHONE LIST.   First, who does that?  Second, WHY isn't the Galaxy S10, Samsung's largest selling phone, on the supported list?? Third, WHERE IS THE REAL SUPPORT?

What FitBit SHOULD DO is have me download an app that monitors communications between my fitbit device (in this case Ionic) and the phone and sniff out why the text message notifications are not being sent to the device.  Surely your developers have something like this???  How hard can it be?

Rather than buy a new phone, perhaps what I should do is buy an Apple Watch instead because FitBit cannot seem to solve a problem that has been around for YEARS and doesn't seem to want to make the effort to properly troubleshoot it either!  Does FitBit not understand Customer Success???  If you want to solve this, you know how to reach me although I'm not holding out much hope that someone at FitBit even cares...

After reading your post, I think that may be my problem! How do I turn them off?

How do you turn off Fitbit Pay and Device Lock? Every since the update to my Ionic and my IOS apple phone nothing works like it should. I rely on my watch to alert me to calls with a vibration, that's not happening.

I’m having the same issue. I haven’t been able to use this feature since October and it’s December. I’ve tried several times to figure it out and get frustrated and stop. I’m in the car and on a long ride so I thought I would try again.  This is ridiculous! I think I’ll go with an Apple Watch instead. Ive been a Fitbit user for about 6 years. Shameful!

Since the update I'm no longer receiving messages or notifications either.

Test call works but nothing else.

States that my phone needs a reset for notifications to work.... Resetting phone doesn't work at all.... Just reverts back stating restart phone again.

Very frustrating

Thanks. Doesn’t work for my iPhone. Ready to trade in the Fitbit after
about 10 years for an iWatch.
