Ionic Not Receiving Notifications Since Update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The notification feature on the Ionic is very unstable as are a lot of the apps. I am finding that they don't work more often than do. It is very frustrating. Especially when Fitbit continues to introduce more features that have the same issues.

Last week, I updated the firmware on my Fitbit Ionic and lost all notification functionality -- no call, no text, no calendar. This update did provide the new Quick Reply feature which is useless without receiving  notifications.

This morning I spent an hour or more on the phone working with Fitbit Tech Support and made no progress.

Perhaps legislation should be created that prevents advertising or charging for a feature if it does not work reliably for more than 1% of the customers that use it.  And if it initially is reliable and is made unstable by an upgrade compulsory refunds should be made.

I made that switch, and now I'm getting the texts to my watch...but the watch won't alert me to it! No vibration, but if I know it's there and look, I can see it. What is going on with this thing! Seems like it's been the last few weeks. My Ionic has randomly restarted twice, once during a run. Now this.

I've set my Iconic to strong vibration but have notice if my wrist is in movement like as if you were going to look at it, it seems not to vibrate. also I notice if you got the app open like email or the text app it does vibrate then to me.

Maybe I am confused. I am getting a notification that says you "have a new message" or "message rec'd" etc, etc, but there is no way to actually read the text message? Was the watch only made to notify me of a message or am I suppose to be able to read the message?

You are supposed to be able to read the message, but it only works
sporadically, disappointingly so!

Usually Ican read my text messages and Email from my Iconic but 99% of my texts come from people in my contacts or apps. I can recall what happens when I get a text from a unknown number I’ll try and keep and eye on this

Hi everyone! Thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot this notification issue, I'd like to make sure that you've followed and tried what my friend @SantiR posted here.

Also, please note that with the new Fitbit OS update 2.1, Notifications are now removed from the Versa/Ionic once you open the conversation in your phone. This is expected behavior and not an issue.

If your tracker is still not receiving notifications, I'd recommend taking a look at the article: My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone.

If the issue persist, please get in touch with our Customer Support Team by choosing your preferred channel: https://help.fitbit.com/?l=en_US&cu=1&fs=ContactUs

If there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

Thanks for getting back @Hullcity2324Fitbit Ionic and Fitbit Versa receive notifications while your phone is in Do Not Disturb, Quiet hours, or Driving mode, but your watch won’t vibrate or wake the screen. To view notifications, swipe down from the clock screen.

If paired to an Android phone, your Fitbit watch or tracker can alert you to notifications at any time:

  1. From the Fitbit app dashboard, tap the Account icon > your device image > Notifications
  2. In the Vibration Settings section, turn on the Always Vibrate option.

Notification tips:

  • To delete 1 notification, tap the notification > Clear.
  • To delete all notifications at once, swipe to the top of your notifications and tap Clear All.
  • If a notification is long, tap it to see the rest of the message contents.
  • To exit the notifications screen, press the back button or swipe up.
  • If you clear a notification from your watch, the notification is removed from your phone's notification center. If you clear a notification from your phone, the notification is removed from your watch.

Hope this helps to clarify how the notifications work!

It's been several months since the firmware update that killed my Ionic's ability to receive notifications from my Galaxy S7 and there still hasn't been a resolution. I've chatted with technical support and followed every troubleshooting guide available with no results. I've paired/unpair, uninstalled/reinstalled, and have turned things off then waited for 10 seconds before turning things back on and give up.

I'm at a loss and complete disappointed in Fitbit's lack of action to resolve this issue.

Hello, I’m in the same boat I’ve taken it one step further and did a hard factory reset which seem to make things worst. I have since shut down my Iconic and went back to my Fitbit Blaze. There are some features I miss but at least its working as designed. I’m waiting to here about the next upgrade before trying to use my Ionic. All I can say is Fitbit lost a customer and I have at lease six other people in my family and friends with FItBit watches verses one Apple. Don’t know what to say about the company.
