The notification feature on the Ionic is very unstable as are a lot of the apps. I am finding that they don't work more often than do. It is very frustrating. Especially when Fitbit continues to introduce more features that have the same issues.
Last week, I updated the firmware on my Fitbit Ionic and lost all notification functionality -- no call, no text, no calendar. This update did provide the new Quick Reply feature which is useless without receiving notifications.
This morning I spent an hour or more on the phone working with Fitbit Tech Support and made no progress.
Perhaps legislation should be created that prevents advertising or charging for a feature if it does not work reliably for more than 1% of the customers that use it. And if it initially is reliable and is made unstable by an upgrade compulsory refunds should be made.

Hello all I too updated my Ionic firmware and no longer got text from the app the was flagged as my default test message app. On the phone app I discovered under the account icon selected my ionic and open apps notification and has selected my Chilli’s app and low and behold I started receiving their text message. So on the mobile app I selected the watch icon and under notifications I changed my default test message app to something I wasn’t using then went over to the account icon and under app noticiations I selected the text message that was my default under the watch icon and I started getting my text messages on my Iconic and can also user the relpies very the watch. I have a Moto Z2 player which is listed as an unsupported phone by Fitbit. Hope this helps anyone still not getting text message after the firmware update

Hi everyone!
I'm aware that many of you probably tried all the basic troubleshoots however, it won't harm to perform the troubleshoots listed on the My Fitbit device isn't receiving notifications from my phone article about the requirements and troubleshoots. This could also be useful for other users checking this thread for the first time.
Thanks for taking the time to share your experience, I'll be around if you need further help!

Everyone here has tried them and they either don't work at all or they work for a short while than don't again. The bottom line is fitbit needs to step up to the plate and fix a very major flaw they have in their firmware update. The Ionic is very expensive and a very important feature doesn't work and the company is very non responsive on the issue which is terrible customer service! Time for everyone to go to another company.

@ssaslow I hope you're doing well! Thanks for trying those steps in order to sort this out.
Are you having trouble to receive every type of notification on your watch? By any chance, are you having trouble to receive Verizon Messages + notifications?
Please update the Fitbit app to its latest version and once you have done that, set the notifications once again.
Keep me posted!

My Fitbit Ionic stopped sending texts or notifications after the 32.10.20 update. Someone in this post suggested forgetting the the device from the phones Bluetooth and then repairing them again. I just did that and magically both text and notifications are working again. I have an IPhone 8 and hope this works for others.

I have never received my notifications properly on my ionic. So disappointed in this Fitbit. Wanna just throw it away. Costs too much money for the trouble. Called customer service 4 times for assistance...

Let me restate my problem. I have never gotten notifications properly since I purchased my ionic. It works for a couple of hours and stops. I have to constantly follow the steps you posted everyday to get notifications. I had the blaze with the same equipment and never had a problem. Unfortunately, customer service has lumped me into it’s a Verizon issue and won’t help me further. I am very disappointed Fitbit fan...

Have you had any luck? I was fine until the July update. Now nothing for notifications. Definitely very frustrating.
Can anyone assist?? Running iPhone platform.

It worked and stopped. My notifications are intermittent. Yes, it is frustrating. I will give a call one more time. I never had an issue with my blaze.

I’ve tried all of those. Countless resets. All kinds. I’ve been on the phone for hours with Fitbit and my ionic will not send me notifications. Why spend all this money on a watch where it doesn’t even function properly

Usually once you get a notification you can tap the message to view it it will also give you a give it a canned reply or mark it as read if it is a text message. If you see the notice on your Iconic but go to your phone to view it will auto delete the message from your Iconic

Hello I feel you pain to keep getting updates and to keep my Iconic and Phone synced I do a couple of things I first always stop and start the bluetooth on my phone if that doesn't work I reboot the Iconic and if that doesn't work I reboot my phone I do all this mainly to keep the Iconic and phone synced but doing those things keeps the notifications coming as well.
