Luxe screen going black

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My luxe has recently started going to a black screen even when there is still plenty of battery left the only way I can get it to come back on and start working again it's too attach it to the charger then the logo comes up and it's fine again. Everything else is functioning properly. Has anyone else had this problem ? Can this one be saved ?  Do I just get a new one ?

Hi there, @Angie29. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for the steps you've tried. I'm sorry to hear that your new Luxe is still with a blank screen. I understand your concern, I will do my best to help you with this!

As per the description of your post, it sounds like a battery issue even when you mentioned that your Luxe has plenty of battery left. Note that there are some issues that affect this, being which power source is used and how clean the contacts are and how well the charger is seated. If you are charging your Versa 3 on the wall socket, try using another CE certified USB adapter for low energy devices.

If you haven't done so yet, I'd recommend following the tips and recommendations provided here Why isn't my Fitbit device's battery charging?

Mine has started doing the exact same thing.  Says it has plenty of battery, but goes blank. Comes right back on when I put it on charge. I've tried the reset button on the charger hoping that would help, but it doesn't. It's completely random as to how long it will stay on.

People have been having these problems for over a year and Fitbit won't even acknowledge it's happening.

Notifications brick our Luxes. Sometimes they shut off for no reason at all. They only come back when put on the charger. Battery percentages are wrong. Time is wrong until you sync.

I'm shopping for alternatives.

My luxe has been doing this for a while now-  very frustrating losing steps & sleep that should have been recorded. Today I went for early voting, had to park far away so I should have gotten lots of steps. Unfortunately the Luxe did its black screen thing. once I got home &  I put it on the charger it said 95% charge and told me it was 3:09- this was about 6:30 pm. So I lost over three hours of tracking.

sure hope Fitbit can come up with a fix for us. This is so frustrating. I have other apps that import fitbit data and I hate that they are not getting the correct information because the Fitbit isn’t tracking properly.

Mine has been doing this as well. It charges to 100% and functions well for an unpredictable period of time. Shuts off at random times and I have untracked steps and sleep. It has become unreliable.

I hit the reset button x3 when back on the charger and shows plenty of charge but the wrong time. What's wrong with it? I maintain a clean charging station and surfaces. I don't want this to wind up in electronic waste. Would rather repair this lovely (looking) device. Please advise. Thank you.

This black screen thing is happening at least once a day. Today I took an hour walk. Before my walk was half over, I  was looking at my luxe to see how many steps I had and it had about 4400.  Well, when I got home, and put the luxe on he charger it only had 3700 steps and although I had walked for an hour, I only got credit for a 22 minute walk, I think I am going to start walking with a pedometer- that will count steps and won’t black out on me. This way I can update my activity on the Fitbit app to compensate for the luxe’s inconsistent tracking.

@LizzyFitbit  is anyone at Fitbit looking at this issue? It seems there are a number of us having this issue.

I don’t think the issue is the battery not charging since the luxe itself usually shows a decent charge before the luxe screen goes black and shows a decent charge when put on the charger after the luxe screen has gone black.

if the battery wasn’t charging, we would not see the battery charge on the luxe go up after being put on the charger for a while.
Yes i agree that if the contacts aren’t clean or if the charger isn’t seated well, that the battery might charge slower or not at all.

But we do see that our battery is charging, so there is no reason for the luxe screen to go black when the battery has a decent charge.

Hi Moderator, I too have similar issues with my Luxe - screen goes black & no amount of shaking or tapping works till I connect to charger & then it often shows 70% or 80%  charge on the battery !   Please help.   Also can u tell me if I can set up a reminder - to move or drink water etc - every 30 min ?   I searched community help forum but answers are to set up alarm & that is for a specific time am or pm. What I need is every 30 min between say 09.00 & 7 or 8 pm.   PLEASE HELP

Some days mines a couple times a day some days it's fine, but the multiple
times a day are far out weighing the fine. My clock, and sleep patterns are
all crazy but it's seems to be counting my steps I have the Samsung health
step tracker turned on, on my phone and they're pretty close. I can't seem
to find a fix anywhere.

well I decided to turn off notifications to my Fitbit luxe - maybe that will help. It could be just coincidence that after I feel a buzz on my wrist that shortly thereafter I have the black screen issue.

Well, at least I’m not the only one experiencing this problem. Sorry to see that Fitbit has not chimed in with a solution. That’s “great” customer care - encouraging us to add to electronic waste by dumping this product. I would rather a fix- mine USED to function well and looks good.

I too am experiencing this same issue as well as many others found in the comments. It appears that this problem as arose with the last month or so. It is obviously not a battery issue either. Hopefully your team will come up with a fix for this issue or replace our units since this is an obvious problem with the luxe itself.

Sorry to hear that @Angie29  . It’s so frustrating when it happens & for me it always seems to happen when I am away from home and the Fitbit charger. Sure wish Fitbit would at least let us know they are looking at the issue.

yes, I agree.  I bought mine because it looked smart, had all the functions I needed & as my wrists are very small, this was the best fit.  But now each time it’s either not recording my sleep or my steps tho’ I’m wearing it & the battery level is always above 70%!
when I connect it to charge, it always shows the wrong time & a battery level of higher that 93%.

I wish I knew what to do as it’s become a habit to check one’s sleep Scot or oxygen etc plus the steps walked.  I have had it for less than 2 years.  Seems a waste to go buy another.

Does anyone have suggestions for other similar watches which work better?

Hi

Mine has gone black again ( last time approx 3 weeks ago)

I’m fed up

Have you found a comparable replacement???

Best Answer

Lucky you - mine goes black almost every day, sometimes more than once a day. Today I was 5 minutes into my walk when it went black screen, so no tracking of steps, no updating of time. Shouldn’t Fitbit respond to our issues? Who wants a device from a company who doesn’t care. Since Google bought Fitbit and nothing is being done about this issue, not even an acknowledgement that they understand that there is a problem and that they are working on it, I don’t know that I would consider another Fitbit or Google tracker, better to go with a company that is stable and responds to their customer issues.
