2015 -- Lose 20 pounds by Mother's Day -- 2015!

Hi!  I just saw a thread from 2014 where a group of mom's and non-mom's set a goal to lose 20 pounds by Mother's Day.  Anyone want to start one for 2015 with me?  I have about 35 pounds to lose total, but 20 by May sounds like a good goal to me.

I am going to try to get my 10,0000 steps in and I am joining a gym this weekend to add strength training and cardio.

Welcome all the new challengers. That is it. You are in. Set your reasonable goal and the steps you will take to get there. Most of us try for 10,000 steps a day. Also, logging honestly everything you eat is super helpful and eye opening. Watch portion size as even healthy foods like raw nuts have 160-200 cal per 1/4 cup. Eeek. I have never measured or logged or danced off the last 1800 steps until this Fitbit program.

We can eat lots of non starchy veggies to feel full. Good luck. It is working for many of us.

Down to 148.6 this morning from 153 so 8.6 to go by MD. 9,123 steps at 5:24 pm so more dancing to do. Also, more water to drink and food to resist eating. That does it off to a Tango dance class- no food there.

All the best,

Barbara G

I dance with my 2 year old granddaughter every day.  One song is about 500 steps.  Sometimes we dance thru the house!  I try to do 10000 steps every day, walking 2 miles and then the rest just moving and dancing.

Hello! Im a 23 year old 5'6" 238 lb mother of twins with a full time job. I have been doing fit bit for a couple of weeks now but 2 days ago I quit smoking and started walking instead. I made a point to take 2 breaks and lunch everyday to smoke, now I make a point to take those and walk. I have been hitting at least 20,000 steps the last two days with making extra efforts to walk (I also try to get a walk in when the twins go to be). Hopefully I can stick to it and maybe start logging my calories. Good luck everyone!

So glad to hear that you found a healthy alternative to the cigarettes. I am a former smoker and in 2005 I had my upper right lung removed due to lung cancer. I walk really fast when I pass someone who is smoking. 😙

Hi everyone!

So happy to see everyone doing so well!  I got my Fitbit and signed onto this challenge exactly a week ago.  I've lost 3 pounds - mostly from watching the calorie intake/burn numbers and making daily adjustments, like eating a lighter dinner.  Unfortunately I haven't gotten my steps in.  One of the reasons is that my pup developed a serious UTI and I've stayed up with him which cut into my already pretty poor sleep time.  Now that he is on the mend, I really need to focus on getting in my steps and some quality sleep.  I think the two are related?

Glad puppy is on the mend. Dogs are great motivators to walk when they are well.

All the best,

Beautiful choices for you and your twins. 20,000 steps is awesome as most of us struggle to get to 10,000. Right now I need to get up and move. Walk while I chat with my sister on the phone.

Then dance for a while,

All the best,

20,000 steps in a day is just beyond my imagination!  Of course, I started at about 400 a day!  My daily goal is 3,000 and I've started making that almost every day.  I even hit 5,000 one day!  I'm 65 years old with lots of arthritis so I'm pretty tickled with my progress.  I am logging my food - and that helps keep me on tract.  The fitbit food log is great and easy to use.  I'm so much happier with it than I was with WW.  I had tried the WW Activelink - but because I was starting at "0" fitness - it wouldn't give me any feedback that was helpful.  Thank goodness for fitbit!

Hi Hort

Yes we can do it. Tonight I'm going to push myself out the door and off to dance to a band called the Pontless Sisters in the next town. At 6:45 pm I have taken only 3127 so up off my seat and out the door in about 1/2 hour.

They say motion is lotion so easy upward with your steps is wise. When the weather is nice it is so lovely to walk in nature.

Best of luck,

Barbara g

Definitely want to join this, please add me 🙂

My goal at the start of the year was to lose 28 lbs, I'm now down to 20 lbs. Whoohoo.

Remember muscle is heavier then fat though so everyone take your measurements!!

Don't lose sight of your end goal if the scale isn't budging as you may very well be getting slimmer 🙂

Anybody that wants to add me as a friend to keep each other motivated please do so.

Thanks

Your words resonated with me and were equally helpful. Thank you. My journey started about 2 weeks ago to lose 30 lbs as per doctor. So......wish me luck 🙏

I believe you go to Fitbit Dashboard and you should be able to search for
me using my email address. From there, you will hopefully be able to
'friend' me.
