Chats, Challenges & Laughs 2nd home

ANSWERED

For all my Chats, Challenges & Laughs peeps! Since we can't get on the threads I thought I would start a discussion area for us. We may not be able to keep track of points standings easily but we can still talk.

I miss you!

Hello, all. We had a great camping trip with great weather. I walked and ride my bicycle quite a bit and read 2 books. Eating was moderate - fruit and veggies with burgers and chips. I did reduce portions.

After we got home and unpacked, Hubby told me about a retirement party for an acquaintance of his. We flew in by helicopter and luckily I did know a handful of people there. Again, moderate food with no cake.

This week is busy and DD#1 wants me to come up Friday and stay with her two youngest for the weekend. I do have meal plan made and just got back from grocery shopping.

Sounds like you had a great time, Elaine, both with activity and eating!

I was dragging a bit at water aerobics this morning and I believe it was due to less water on Sunday. Hitting the water today and tracking my food. I'm getting caught up with housework and ran a bunch of errands.

I have a meeting at 5:30 today, then picking up a pizza to support pack the house night for our church's parochial school.

Weight is slowly decreasing and I am feeling so much better. Because of the exercise I've been doing, I notice that I stand straighter and walk with purpose instead of trudging. Most of all, I feel joyful, or at least peaceful, most of the time.

Hi All, coming to you from Baton Rouge. It's hot and I spent 2 hours outside working a parking lot. Also, I've been up since 3:45 local time so I'm on my way to bed but I did want to pop in and say hi.

Elaine, can you tell me more taking a helicopter to a party? I feel like I missed something while I was on my yacht LOL!

@ElaineJ27  - I too want to hear about that helicopter ride!

@sherryoglesby  -  Welcome back! The discussion area is not really a 'group' so it won't show up but if you leave the "Email me when someone replies" box checked, you will get notices of who is posting. Not sure if this box shows on the app but it does on the site.

Just a tip to everyone else, if you use the @ like I have above (once you type the @ sign it will give you a drop down box to assist you) - the person tagged will be notified also and they are more likely to see it/respond to it.

My weight is still going in the wrong direction - my good intentions have remained intentions and haven't made it to actions yet. Still not giving up but continuing to give myself time and space to just be, without pressure. Work continues to be non-stop so that's fun too.

It's 10 am and I haven't really started my day yet. I stayed up way too late so I slept in. I usually hit the links as soon as they open so I can miss a crowd, especially a men's league that starts about 8:30. I agree with Margaret that my first positive step has to be GO TO BED!I

I really take it for granted that we go some places in a helicopter. Hubby rents one for pollinating seed corn (wind spreads the pollen) this time of year. The party was just outside a small town near here for a retiring airline pilot. He has a grass runway in front of his house and the party was in the large hangar (metal building). While we were there, a biplane flew over doing rolls and put on a small air show before landing.

When DD#2 was starting high school, we took her and a friend in our small plane to Minneapolis, then took a shuttle to the Mall of America for back-to-school shopping. She never believed she was spoiled. And don't get the idea that we're well off - that was an extravagance. Hubby does flight training and gives flight reviews (license renewals) to help pay for his flying.

Now I'm going to go play golf and turn my day around.

Cool life, @ElaineJ27 .  And even cooler that you're not rich, just blessed.

Thanks for the tips @Cele21 .  I've wondered how people do that.  I'm glad you are being easy on yourself.  We are all human and I think part of our problems is that we think we have to be perfect to 'be good'.

I'm assuming you were going on a yaht @Katrin  - I laughed and thought 'clever gal'.

One thing that bothers me on here is that my memory is bad and so I used to be able to scroll down when writing to remember what I wanted to touch on / reply to but now I only see the last post.  Any hints on that @Cele21 ?

I don't think I posted Monday so that's 2 pts and 3 pts today.  No biking since Saturday night since we had company.  Tonight Hubby is mowing and earlier he said he was too full to bike.  I did lose 2.8 lbs at Monday's WW weigh-in.  Once again need to find only post to write down updated data.

Oh, how quickly I fall into the pit. Instead of golfing yesterday like I posted I would, DD#2 asked me to ride along for errands then go to lunch. It was almost 1:30 before we got to lunch and my hunger led to a bad choice, which physically haunted me the rest of the day. In addition, I reheated the two leftover pieces of pizza for dinner.

I woke up about 1 am feeling very sick, sweating profusely, with a killer headache.  My thought was, "That was stupid", which surprisingly wasn't, "I'm stupid". I'll take progress where I find it.

I slept in this morning, skipping both WW and water aerobics. In spite of wanting comfort food to soothe my "hangover" feelings, I ate the healthy breakfast I had planned and am drinking water to get back on track.

I hear you @ElaineJ27 .  We still haven't got back on the bikes.  Now they are 'locked in the garage due to a broken door.  Repair guy is coming tomorrow to set up a temporary fix until the needed springs arrive.  Ahhh, we could walk, but he hasn't mentioned it so I haven't either ... I am so b.ad lol

It will be 3 pts for Wed.  Below are the latest statistics

Sorry I've been missing again. Still out of sync and now I'm staying at DD#1's house with her 9-YO girl and 12-YO boy. Her MIL and I are taking them to the county fair today so I'll probably eat something bad, but I plan to choose one thing that I really want.

Kids here are back to school next week and Hubby returns to work on Monday so hopefully I can get back to a regular schedule.

I had a jumbo corndog at the fair and munched on granddaughter's bucket of fries. The kids shared a funnel cake, but the bite I had tasted like pure grease so I wasn't tempted to have more of that. I did walk quite a bit but not as much as I needed to.

DD and SIL get back late tonight, so I'm driving home in the morning. Then my sister and I leave Friday for a Women of Joy conference in Indianapolis, arriving home late Saturday. My great-niece is being baptized on Sunday, so I have to have her card and gift ready before I leave.

So much for getting back to normal but this may be my new normal!

I'm going to blame it on the fair food but I had horrible abdominal cramps and diarrhea from something I ate. Hopefully that will encourage me to stay on track.

I'm heading home this morning, but I have to pick up the local grandkids when I arrive. I told DD that Dad and I both have meetings, so they have to be picked up by 5:30. And tomorrow I have to cut my stamp club short to pick them up from school. And so my normal begins!

I hope all of you are doing well and that I will hear from you soon.

Sorry that I have been MIA for the last week plus. I started my week off very diligently tracking food, exercising, tracking water etc. (but unfortunately not posting here). As the week went on I got more and more into “vacation mode”. The good news is I was only up 0.2 lbs at WW on Saturday! I did come to the office on Thursday (although not to my desk) as I had to pick up my CSA share. While I was here, I got in a great workout at the gym. The rest of the week was very laid back, a few day trips including one to a local farm to pick blueberries, blackberries AND peaches – YUM.

@Katrin – Are your parents all settled into their new home? How did your mom do moving out of and putting the family home on the market? So glad to hear you got your syncing issues resolved. I have to ask, why were you working in a parking lot in Baton Rouge?

@sherryoglesby - so glad to see you found us. I've missed you.

@ElaineJ27 – isn’t the impact of shedding even just a couple of pounds to our confidence, mood, etc.  amazing? I really wish there were a way to bottle that feeling… Good for you in recognizing that it was your actions that were stupid... and yes, remembering how awful we feel after making poor choices should help us make better choices next time.

@Cele21 – without intentions, there will be no action. That first step of recognizing and making a plan for what you want to do is the hardest step. You’ve conquered that! I'm a firm believer in baby steps, focusing on one thing at a time etc.

@CJ_Here - When I reply to a message I see a hyperlink that reads "View discussion in a popup" if you click on that it'll open another window with the whole discussion. I use that all the time to refer back to posts I want to comment on.

Have a great day everyone!

Took two tries, but I figured out the pop-up reference; thanks, Margaret.  Sounds like you had a good week off.  Hope you are refreshed.

I started a "Morning Sidekick Journal" from Habit Nest to help me not just sleep my retirement away.  I'm doing pretty good (although this morning I've been thinking how nice it would be to go back to bed and just sleep instead of being up).  It's a 66 day program to help get up in the morning with intention, get morning routines down, and be more productive throughout the day.  I feel good when I've done it - just not wanting to do it today, I guess lol.

@Cele21, I hope your stress levels are lower and that you are taking care of your well being.  Hope to hear from you soon.

@sherryoglesbymade it here, but we haven't received in update on how things are going for you.  I hope you can get used to this format.

@ElaineJ27, are you retired now, too?

@Katrin, I have the same questions Margaret has.

Thanks CJ, I am refreshed. I must have done a really good job getting caught up and ahead before I was off as I'm not feeling a lot of pressure to get things done yesterday lol.

Hi everyone!

Just quickly checking in. Daughter was in for the weekend and I spent Friday night getting her from the train, Saturday she realized she forgot to pack the shorts she was going to wear to a friend's b-day night out and she wanted to buy one more gift for same friend. Spent most of the day going from store to store to find everything. It was nice spending time with just us. Sunday she helped me go through another shelf in the linen closet which was the worst one in there - OTC medicines, bandages, nail polishes and make-up, curling irons, dixie cups, bar soap, travel shampoos and conditioners, etc., face masks, misc. health related objects, you name it and it was probably in there. We were able to combine three small drawers of beauty stuff into one, moved the curling irons into the bathroom vanity drawer (which was emptied last time she was in town), got rid of a lot of old nail polish and make-up and expired medicine, found all the travel/sample size items and put them in one place. The idea now is to not buy any shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste or lotion until those are all used up which will allow us to move things around again and make it even neater. Three shelves down, two to go.

While I'm still not back in full swing - I have come up with plans for work, home and personal improvements and am starting to incorporate them.

Tiny goals still move you forward.

Glad to hear from you all.

I arrived home about 1 yesterday afternoon, just as Hubby came home sick. I picked up the two local grandchildren and was in the living room with them when Hubby texted from the bedroom asking me to take him to the hospital. Tests revealed perforated diverticulum, being treated with antibiotics and liquid diet. His pain is better today and he's sleeping quite a bit today.

I placed my first Wal-Mart order for pickup this evening so I'll have some healthy food in the house as I run here and there.
