Have you lost weight since you got your Fitbit?

I am the exact same weight as I was when I got my Flex 3 1/2 months ago!

How about you?

I'm hoping with Spring here and Summer around the corner, that my walking will increase.

I've had a fitbit for a couple of years now, recently I have brought a new one. I am quite an active person as it is part of my job, I exercise 6 days a week and sometimes twice a day. The fitbit has been a tool for me more then an object to lose weight. I find knowing how hard I push myself in a workout more relievent then the amount of steps I do in a day. For me 20k steps is average, so keeping my heart rate into a peak zone and having the right amount of good rest is better then stepping onto the scales and being upset with myself. The fitbit is not going to make you lose weight, it is something to motivate you to move more, be more competive with yourself, don't just do your 10k steps and go yup! I'm done for the day I deserve a treat. Do a fantastic workout where you get into your peak heart rate zone. Lift some weights it will increase your lean muscle tissue, not only tonning your body but it will increase your metabilisom rate, therfore also lose weight.

Thank you for the encouragement!  I recently started logging my food.  I did good the first few days but then seemed to stop logging it all.  I need to do a better job.

A two pound daily variation is not only possible, it is highly likely.  The thing is, you don't *actually* gain that much weigh in a day, the variation comes from water and elimination.

FWIW, for highly active folks who workout in the heat of summer, even a 10-pound daily variation isn't all that unusual; it's pretty much the best plan if you only weigh yourself once a week, or even once per month.

Don't get discouraged, as long as you are moving and keeping your caloric intake less than what you burn the weight will come off. Getting on the scale every day only encourages failure as we don't see what we expect and give up because it's not working. My scale reflected as much as 4 lbs up during the day when I 1st started out. This reflects everything you put down the old pie hole during the day and could be the opposite if you were to refrain from eating or drinking anything for the same period (this is worse for you BTW, if your body thinks you are starving it will try to hold onto those calories). Try to judge your weight loss by how you feel, the fit of your clothes, energy levels, motivation to get out and walk/run bike ect. Save the daily (or multiple trips) to the scales and weigh yourself once a week. This will be a more accurate reading. It took about 4-5 months for me to get into this habit..At 250+ for almost a decade, I'm down to a tolerable 185. Still putting 50-60 miles a week on the shoes, but the scale no longer controls me..I am in a maintain mode now, and a small up or down doesn't even raise an eye brow any more. Everyone is rooting for your eventual success, but those that have reached their goals went through the same hurdles. "soldier on" my friend..Emujo

So first, go back through stats and pick out the only valid weighing days if you want to minimize expected known reasons for water fluctuations.

Morning after rest day eating normal sodium levels, not sore from last workout.

Forget any other days to look at.

Or do as suggested above - trendweight - then weight (get it! ah!) a month to detect a pattern.

1st - how do your log your food - by weight grams or by measurement cups/spoons?

Calories is per weight, grams - and more accurate.

Log by weight for starters.

2nd - how big a deficit you attempting, and how much weight until a healthy weight?

This can effect how stressed out the body is. Stress is cortisol is water weight gain.

3rd - What Fitbit do you use, and what workouts are you doing?

This could effect how accurate your calorie burn is given - could be way more, or perhaps tad less - just depends.

4th - How long in a diet now attempting these 2 lbs? What weight did you come down from to be dealing with this final weight? How long did that take for the loss?

That could explain an already stressed out body that isn't going to work well with answer to #2.

I log food with the camera thingy , and add more than on the food, or If this a home cook meal I would go with the highest calories count to b on the safe side. I don't eat big meal . I eat smaller meal/snacks a few times a day too. I'm a little OCD too, so .

I got my Alta on july 18 or 21, cant remember the exact date. So far I've lost about 2 pounds in 3 weeks (starting weight of 197lbs)! I walk around 12-13K steps every night except my rest day on sunday. Just recently started doing intervals or light jogging.

After just 3 weeks my muffin top is starting to shrink and the stretch marks are disappearing 😄

I've also started portioning my food properly instead of eating till I'm stuffed. I didn't realize how much I was eating before i started logging my food! I have a hard time getting my calories in the zone though, 99% of the time I'm under my intake but I know I'm alright because I feel full.

@Kbz Losing weight is probably more about the kitchen than the exercise. Exercise is great, don't get me wrong. It helps with improving and maintaining health, but, as they say, "you can't outrun a bad diet." Weight is all about the food choices and portion sizes.

If one is active enough, then a Weight Watchers diet is no where near enough food.

That's the problem with us runners; we get hurt and the activity level heads south in a big fat hurry, unfortunately our appetite is stupid and wants to keep eating like you're still doing ten miles a day.

Although I think weight watchers has its good points I just found a site that told me at my current weight (294) I should eat between 41 and 50 points (41=sit all day, 50=active job).  I've seen a couple of site that say it's around 40 cals per point (used to be 50, but I see people say it's lower).  That would put me in the range of 1640 calories to 2000.   This is super simplistic as I know that not all calories are equal in their system.

So, I eat 1000 calorie a day less than I burn, up to a 2500 calorie cut off that I set recently.  I've lost ~65 pounds in about 28 weeks.  At 1640 I wouldn't survive it, at 2000 calories I would likely lose less (been there, done that).  Your personal experience may be completely different.

I have lost 55 lbs in 6 and a half months. I walk everyday and I changed my eating habits ( wont say diet because there is no diet I follow) Portion control, cutting out extra sugar in my coffee, baked potato with no butter ( try it with salsa on it, you wont miss the butter) allowing myself a cheat day for every 5 lbs lost. Now my cheat days dont seem like a big deal, and I still tend to watch what I eat on those days. I have 3 meatless days a week, but I was never a big meat eater anyways.
