New Years to Valentine's Day 2016 Challenge

Welcome to the New Year Everyone! This will start January 1, 2016 officially 🙂

If you have seen the posts before this is a challenge that everyone is invited to join to set your own personal weight loss goal for the next 6 weeks. This is all about having a great support system and most importantly feeling great and happy and healthy about yourself. Don't worry if you have bad weeks because we all go through it.

To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you'd like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has some huge inspiration in it and people that give wonderful advice.

Looking forward to catching up with all our friends from the other challenges and anyone who is new!

From what I have read so far...I LOVE the positivity in this group!  I'm late in the game for this challenge but are there plans for one after this?

@Chlz1997

Yes, one of us will more than likely be starting a new challenge thread and posting it closer to Valentine's Day 🙂

@dianenyc

If you want to add someone click on their profile, (username I believe) and then go to their "fitbit.com profile" and then there should be the option to add them right next to their username and picture 🙂

Hope that helps!

+ .6 Lbs this week. My exercise was good all week (and even on the weekend), although I missed my usual AM workout yesterday. I went back and looked at MFP for the week, and I had one bad day on Monday where I had +1800 net calories. I went over my calorie limit a few other days, but with my fitbit excerise, I was alway negative on net calories.

With what I ate on Monday, I also had over 5,000 gs of sodium that day....about 3 times the recommended dosage. That probably didn't help.

So.....let's stay with those weekly commitments, shall we? Like awood08 says, it's not what you've done, it's what you're going to do tomorrow that counts!

  • Salad the main course for at least one meal a day
  • Lay off the chips/salsa

I WANT TO MAKE THIS GOAL!!! 6.2 LBS TO GO! The last week might be 2-a-days so I can make it!

Weigh in Wednesday!

After being so frustrated last week and whining a lot, the very next day I had the lowest weight I've had in probably a year.  So I guess even though it's super slow going, I'm still losing and I need to not get frustrated with the occasional ups and concentrate on the overall trend.  Some days easier said than done.

So, posting for last Saturday and this past one 1-30...I stayed the same weight for a week and got a bit discouraged, but then was floored with this past Saturday's weight! No idea how that happened, but I guess sometimes staying the same might not be as bad as I thought! And, hoping it wasn't a fluke. Now to maintatin/lose a bit more maybe before Valentine's Day!

Things are looking up!  I was still 139.6 on Monday.  It's my lady week this week so I'm definitely feeling the bloat and I'm pretty sure that's why I'm up a little.  I plan to behave and not let my sweet tooth control me.  I WILL see that 139-something again, darn it!

Yay Samalama!  I knew you would do it!  And doesn't it feel great?  Although you keep trouncing me in the challenges, I am cheering you on and pulling for you to reach that goal weight.  Keep it up!!

USW- 144 (July 2015)
CSW- 143.8 (January 2, 2016)
GW1- 135 (January 22--made it: 135.6, down 8.3)
GW2 - 133 (February 1--made it...two days late, but I made it!)
GW3 - 131 (February 😎
(New) GWC - 129 (February 14)
UGW- 115 (by Memorial Day, I hope!)
PW- 119 (2008 or 2009; I was down to 123 briefly last August)
Last weigh-in (1/27 a week ago today) - 135.2 (down 2.4 since January 18; down 8.6 since January 2).

CW - 133 (down 2.2 since January 27; down 10.8 since January 2) Yay!!!

Okay, it is really crunch time for me.  I have been fasting since Sunday. I ate nothing on Monday, and had a chocolate and vanilla almond milk smoothie last night after my massage.  It was after 7pm, but  my massage therapist is one of the nicest guys you would ever want to meet; he has been bringing me one of these smoothies since the start of the year, and not only could I not refuse it, but they are delicious and healthy, so I never would!  Today, I ate my son's leftover breakfast (about 1/3 of a piece of toast and a half a slice of turkey bacon, so I'm guessing 100 calories?).  I was actually just over 131 on the scale at the Y, but I drank 20oz of free coffee (remember, I am convinced I lived a past life during the Great Depression?) before I got home and weighed, and I am convinced it accounts for the higher number on my own scale (my weight fluctuations are legendary!)  Nevertheless, I use that scale, so I am recording its weight.  I am still very happy with the number.  I am on to my next goal: 131 by Monday (maybe Wednesday).  It will be very hard for me to achieve this weight (I know it) because 130ish is always the point at which I plateau and eventually throw in the towel.  I am going to keep trying to break through 130 (without starving myself, which I KNOW is not good, but that's why I just fast intermitently.  I've read lots of research about its benefits).  May the force be with me!!

PS  I am proud of all of you who have been meeting goals and achieving milestones.  You all inspire me. May the force be with you, too!

@swimr12265  Wow!  10.8 pounds in 1 month?  That is unbelievable!  I understand with really heavy people, how they lose a lot of weight so quickly, but you were at a weight a lot of people would kill for.  I don't understand how it comes off so easily for you.  I wish I had your genes.  I'll be 32 later this month, but I find it soooo hard to lose weight.  When I was 26 and weighed 183 (my all-time heaviest), I lost weight faily easily with just some calorie counting and moderate exercise.  Now I have to kill myself with my workouts and switch things up constantly to average just half a pound a week!  But I'll take the slow and steady.  I think I will be less likely to regain. Anyway, good for you.  I have done the fasting thing and had some success with it, but once I lost maybe 12 pounds with it, it wouldn't come off anymore.  Plus I got so sick of fasting.  I would just end up binging the next day.  Instead I do a 16:8 eating window which works for me since I almost never super hungry in the morning. Plus, I'm more satisfied eating 2 larger meals than 3 smaller ones.  Anywho, you inspire me to step my game up.  I've been floating around the 140s for far too long.  I want out!

Oh and as for the challenges, you can blame my friend for that!  She's been challenging me too and I'm pretty certain she CHEATS! Lol.  That leads me to marching in place while I watch tv. Haha. I have to beat her!

@swimr12265 ,

 Congrats , you are so close you will be in the 120's before you know it. Lol ... we are alot alike i think , i fast quite often ( currently on day 3 of a 7 day fast ) usually people don't get it or tell me how unhealthy it is so i don't share my eating choices as much as some .  Keep doing what you are doing , it is working:)

Good morning all! Hope everyone has had a good week so far. Smiley Happy

Congrats to all who are seeing positive progress, it's truly amazing what you all are achieving & working towards! Keep it up! To those struggling keep at it, think of all the progress you've made so far & stay positive, we all know you can do it! Smiley Happy

@kmme I am in a similar position to you! Last week I finally broke a mini plateau & got down to 133lbs & then this last week & a bit I have gotten stuck again.

Starting to find my very slow progress frustrating & trying to not let it get the better of me. Looking back at the past week I think my issue might be portion control, I have eaten relatively healthy meals but not stuck to my normal portion size & then also been a bit more relaxed with my snacking (pick n mix at the cinema, dangerously yummy peanut butter oreos lol). Think if I can get those back on the right track & make sure I keep getting my exercise in hopefully I will start moving in the right direction again.

I have the 10k this Sunday so will post an update as to how the race went! Thank you so much to those who have sponsored me & to everyone for your very kind words. This group is amazing!!

Happy Thursday!

I have my 5k tomorrow evening! I'm super excited since it's during our little Mardi Gras celebration in a nearby town I grew up near. Just hoping to beat my first time by 5 minutes and I'll be happy 🙂

Been stuck on a plateau for a few weeks, I've stayed between 173-175 and it's been driving me nuts. I've changed up my workout and my food intake quite a bit and finally it has paid off. I thought I would'nt have issues with loosing these last 12-13 pounds since I still technically should lose about 20 more to be "ideal" but man is it hard! Now i'm packing myself full of protein and hitting the weights more than the cardio.

Hope everyone has a great weekend! And good luck @saraj91 on your 10k! You will rock it 🙂
