OK. Winter is coming and that makes some folks ornery. Well put on those shoes, build up some body heat and step it up!
How It Works:
The purpose of this challenge is to keep track of your daily step goals for October 2017. This is not a competition to see who can do the most amount of steps, instead it is a challenge to measure your consistency. So whether you do 1k, 5k, 10k or even 40k steps a day, this is measuring how many days out of 31 for the month can you hit your goal.
Some of you might have a constant goal of 10k steps every single day and some might have a variable goal throughout the week, for example.
Monday -> Friday = 10k steps a day
Sat & Sun = 6k steps a day
Regardless of how you structure your daily goals, the only thing that matters for this challenge is whether or not you reach what you set out to do.
Suggested Posting Format
1) Post either your constant or variable step goal.
2) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.

4) Keep track of the # of daily goals achieved / 31.
The optional items list has grown over the past months. That's why the title has steps in (). In the end it's about setting goals and improving habits. So the optional items can really be anything. Running, biking, weight lifting, food goals, etc. Some will add a goal that is not daily - ie. wanting to do so many strength training workouts in the month - so you might be aiming for a number that is less than 31 for some goals -- maybe 5, 10, or 15. Really, it's just completely open.
Injury Notice
If you injure yourself during the month and decide scale back the number of steps due to the injury, then all you have to do is adjust your daily step goal for that period. If you normally do 10k steps a day but pull a hamstring and decide to do minimal walking (2k steps a day), then all you have to do is change your goal.

@A_Lurker -- yep, you need to prep and pack some travel food! Your commute home makes me think of grocery shopping at the end of a long day before dinner. So hard (for me) to stay out of the prepared foods and snack areas then! I'm also thinking that another bonus of my train is no roadside stops once I get on.

Goals steps 10 k, 35 floors, 5 miles
10/7 Steps, 17.6 k, 94 floors, 7.95 miles. Another day withd 14/14 active hours. Another beautiful fall day with temps in the mid 80's with moderate humidity. A touch breezy but kept me cool.
We both read a lot, and I've found that if I get up every hour and walk around the house it keeps me more alert. Plus I get 250 + steps per hour from 6 pm to 10 pm.
At the end of week one: I'm 6/7 for steps, 7/7 floors and miles.

Because of this hip pain that I can't seem to get rid of I'm revising my goals. Instead of 10k I'm going for 5k and I'm getting rid of the other goals for now. I need to focus on getting better and right now that means only focusing on one goal at at time.

Goal progress: I'm 8/9 for steps, 9/9 floors and miles.
We are headed out for a horse camp tomorrow and will probably be out of touch till Sunday. Lousy phone reception and no data unless they have put up a new tower in the past year. Riding in the Mark Twain National Forest in SE Missouri.

I didn't accomplish much over our long weekend. However, I did do some cooking / food prep for the week (although I did more tonight after a late return. Definitely have to spend more time doing chores either week nights or weekends (LOL - probably both).

Steps were a bit low on the 13th. Wife left the house without her phone and I knew she needed it for a playlist she uses in an aqua-spin class she just started to teach, so I tried to find her to drop it off. Of course she was busy driving back home to get, and we never did meet up. Very Keystone Kops .... I was pretty much behind schedule all day after that, but I did get a rush job of my weights done. Better than nothing!
