Chipping away at it slowly. I am going to push myself to move to the next fitness level over the next few weeks. I just had a three week stint of 10 hours a week of knocking on doors for the Autralian Bureau of Statistics. The first week was quite difficult as I walked up hills, climbed steep porches and dragged a huge satchel. The last week I was whizzing around so I want to keep the momentum going.

Looks like I've been MIA for a few weeks. I had about 2 weeks where I really didn't feel like doing anything and I really wasn't too strict on the diet. I didn't eat bad, I just wasn't tracking things. So I made a visit to the doc last Monday and he recommended I try the microbiome diet. I officially started it on Saturday (taking the prebiotics and probiotics) but I altered my diet to prepare for it on Tuesday. It's too early to say whether it works, but according to the book and research, your gut's overall health affects many different things such as your mood, metabolism, and even the type of food you crave. Again, too early to tell, but I'm not craving anything sweet and I don't feel hungry. So at least a start in the right direction.

Interesting week for me. I was at a two day food vendor food tradeshow with endless samples and then was on a three day guys camping weekend complete with everything that entails. I enjoyed myself and did indulge a bit, but I mean a bit. I used every ounce of self-control and I am down .4 of a lb again this week so pretty exstatic to not be gaining. FYI, I ate a 16oz steak with a small potato, a slice of garlic bread, sauteed mushrooms, onions and peppers and a kale mix salad complete with a glass of wine on Saturday night, so, ya, I am pretty happy to have still lost (I did save most of my calories that day knowing that that meal was coming).

Haven't posted in a while but here I am!
Started diet: 6/1/2016
Starting weight: 211
Weight last time I posted: 188.2
Current weight: 179.2
Weight loss = 31.8
Goal weight: 135lbs by March 30th (28th bday) so 44.2lbs to go!
I've just been counting calories and exercising at least 30 minutes a day and the weight was falling off, hit a plateau over the last 2 weeks and decided to cut out one of my indulgences...CHINESE. After only ONE week, I dropped 5lbs. Ugh. Why does it taste so amazing?!

The salty, saucy goodness. I was having a bad morning and a coworker suggested it at lunch and I went. He was right, I needed to get out before I said something I was going to regret. I skipped the egg rolls and spring rolls and stuck to two types of veggie dishes with some bbq pork. I'll drink plenty of water and not worry about it. Remember, a good part of the weight gain after Chinese is water from the sodium. Well, unless you're eating a huge amount.

Hi @Cubeyz I have a lot of weight to lose as well and I know it is going to take me a while.
It is hard sometimes to stick with it for long periods of time and I think that is okay to drop the ball for a while and have a break.
Not everyone loses weight every week but find that the journey is more of a two step forward one step back situation. My weight loss graph is like a saw blade :0
I have been bobbing along for a while losing little bits but now I feel enthusiatic about upping my exercise to the next level.
I have been too overweight to do too much as I have been worried about my joints and have kept my exercise to mainly walking but now I am going to dance!
My weight loss pattern seems to be a sprint and then a dawdle but it is working.
Keep going and you will get there.

@Cubeyz - Even if you're only weighing periodically, try using Trendweight.com and look at the overall trend. I weigh daily (I don't let it affect me) and here's my last 3 months...
Up / down / up / down, etc. This is how I lose weight. Even my trip last week with the major jump (which I assumed was higher sodium) has corrected itself. Looking at my trends, weighing myself three or four days apart (even doing everything right) could possibly even show a gain. Daily weighing though is not for everyone. I've known people whose mood would be purely affected by that number.
Oh, and although I don't do it much myself - get a tape measure and take some measurements. It can be another indicator of how you're doing. Same as fitness levels. Don't let the number itself define your progress over a short period of time.

So, as expected, the weight gain from last week slid off this week. I think this is what I like about the daily weighing. I know that fluctuations up and down are normal. I also knew last week that the huge jump was almost certainly salt related, or at least a large percentage of it. It's also an indicator of how much salt there is in restaurant food (even the more expensive meals). Also, since I still did the chinese food lunch this week, a single meal doesn't matter as much.

Anyway, I vegged out yesterday and only truly motivated myself to get up and do things at 4pm. I let a sore back and a headache derail me from the work I needed to do. I ended up only planting 90 crocus, so today it's on to more bulbs. I did get one of the beds ready so it won't be so tough. It's still fairly cool out at the moment, so I might wait until the sun is on the front garden before I start working out there. There's possibly a little rain coming tomorrow, but we're still a little above seasonal temps for this time of year, so that's nice.

I remember saying that to myself on July 19, 2015 when I first started. The hill seemed so high. Awful day that was when the scales lit up 235lbs. Heart>floor. Every week used to drag in. Now every week cannot come quick enough. Now it flies past.
Weight loss reminds me of tidying up a massive room. Takes forever to get through all the bulk but it starts feeling so much easier as the little bits that is left to clean up. Except for that last bit of grime in the corners that is so stubborn.
Year 2, what a fantasic journey it has now become. More so learning about the ingredients of food for the body, blood pressure, visceral fat, muscle mass and body water.
Cooking very tasty food that isn't fattening has become such a joy including the spices to get the metabolism up.
Now I like to think of all the weight discs on the floor and you'll never become part of my body again. However, I will lift you all and you will never beat me.

@totallycommited - as someone who has been there before - get on the scale tomorrow morning and start tracking it. No matter what the number is, you can start working on it again today.

Small move downward, but that's still in the right direction. I'm actually pretty happy with it, as I had work travel all last week and wasn't able to do too much. We started early mornings, and since it was too dark and it wasn't the safest area, running in the morning was out and we ended after dark, so ditto. Oh, and the hotel managed to not have any sort of fitness facility (not my choice). We did have later starts on Thursday and Friday, so I was able to get a decent run in. Since I live at around 5400 ft, being at sea level in California made the runs feel amazing!
High brown belt test this weekend-we start at 6 PM on Friday and end at 6 PM on Sunday. It's all done on minimal sleep and near constant moving, with a 5 mile run each morning. I've only been able to eek out 2ish miles before, and at nearly 10k feet, I'm more than nervous. I know the curriculum well, just don't know how much I will be able to do before my body gives me the finger and quits. At this point, I just want it done; it's been hanging over my head all summer and while I feel as though I'm in a better place than I was in June, I'm really worried that it isn't enough.
