@SunsetRunner - thank you! I am doing better already, but it's definitely slow recovery. I've learned my lesson for sure!

@Baltoscott - tell me about it! We are not equipped to handle such heat around here! But, it was only two days and now it's back to very pleasant mid-70s. Every summer we get a heatwave or two. Sometimes it can last for a week, and sometimes it's just a few days. The nice thing is that in the evening it always cools down, so there's relief from the heat each night! I used to live on the East Coast and I do not miss the summers. I adore the weather here in the PNW!

An early weigh-in as I'm going to be away from the scales I track my weight on next week. 

 

I'm delighted that I did. The extra from my "naughty" weekend has gone away and taken another 0.8kg with it!

 

Total loss now 27.5kg (60.6lbs)!

 

It's paying dividends. My running is vastly improved, I feel twenty years younger and I'm told I look much healthier.

Hi again everyone! 

 

I've added my Friday weight and was happy to see there was no change from Tuesday.  I haven't done a good job tracking my food today.  I'm not too worried about it -- last night we went out to a Chinese buffet for dinner and let's just say it completely cleaned me out 🙂 so I think I can afford a few extra calories today!  I still wasn't feeling that great when I woke up this morning so I skipped my morning workout.  Tomorrow will be an active day with plenty of household chores that need to be done so I should get back on track.

I am on medication this week, steroids, and it has had an effect of water retention. I have gained a kilo.

I have Bells Palsy which is a wonderful condition where a nerve in your neck gets inflamed and half your face freezes. It is pretty weird.

I cannot close one eye, talk, chew or taste. I have been hiding out at home, too embarrassed to go out, so not much exercise. I haven't been eating much though because it is too hard.

I am on day 6 now and I am starting to get some feeling back so hopefully in a few days it will be back to normal.

This loss could have been a lot better – Monday through Friday mid-day I was doing great watching my calories and getting my steps in. Thursday night at softball I pulled a quad (never been much of a runner, and that sprint to 1st when you hit the ball is rough!) and I was worried it was going to be bad, but it already feels much better. So it’s not the reason for my sedentariousness this weekend. That (I believe) was because I’d been running on high for too long and I needed both a mental and a physical break.

Overall, I still feel pretty decent, I’m doing the right things (in general) I just need to stick to them better. Back to working out tonight, that will be nice, and a day off tomorrow. I will need to get out for a long walk (maybe I’ll take my dog to the dog park) so I can shake off some of the rust that accumulated this weekend. It’s going to be hot, so I just need to plan for that so I don’t stop early.

I just got back from vacation, and I'm excited that I only gained half a pound instead of 3 or 4 like I normally would. I didn't do much exercise except for hiking two days and kayaking a third.

 

Starting today, I'm going serious with the low- to no-carb diet and more exercise (I forgot to reset my alarm from vacation, so I missed my morning running time). Here's hoping that next week shows a larger shift on the scale.

I was a little worried I would be up more than this this week.  We had a great Canada day long weekend at the lake.  I was quite active with lots of walking and I was even water skiing but I had a couple extra beers and ate little more than I needed (nothing extreme).  It's nice to realize I can relax a little bit on myself once in a while and then just balance it out.

Hi everyone! 

 

I've added my Tuesday weight for this week and also weighed in a day early. Today is the one year anniversary of when I started this journey. Last year at this time I was 224.5  lbs and today I am 147.5!!!!! Being down 77 lbs is more than I ever expected or dreamed. I feel wonderful and am proud of my accomplishment. It certainly hasn't been easy but I have learned so much along the way! I have also made some good friends on this message board and want to thank everyone for their support and encouragement! I couldn't have done it without you. 

 

My journey now is of course maintenance. So far it's been good but I know I will struggle over the summer with all the parties and festivals. I know this is a lifelong journey so I plan to continue posting to stay on track.

I am pretty proud of the fact that I went on vacation and was able to not gain weight long term. When I got back on Sunday my weight was 195.8 and by Wednesday it was down to 191.2 and because of various reasons it has stayed there since. I have no complaints since I spent last week eating wonderful food and relaxing by the lake!

Seems like every weekend is a new challenge.  We've been going to lots of social events, and it's not just a few hours.  Yesterday we went to friends for a Paella dinner.  The Paella was GREAT.  Paella -- Yum!Paella -- Yum!

And it IS good for you.  Still, it is a social event too, which means we were there for 6 or 7 hours of talking, drinking, snacking ... Somehow I managed to keep it to three beers (a bottle of water after each one!) and just a couple small plates of veggies, crackers, crab dip etc, tres leches cake.  And, of course, about two or three cups of Paella!

@SunsetRunner -- 77 lbs in a year is an amazing weight loss journey!  I think you are right to think of weight maintenance as a journey as well, and I'm glad you continue to report in.  It is tempting to think you are done once you hit your weight loss goal, but if you don't keep some level of focus on it, you probably won't stay there long.  

 

And yes, summer parties and festivals are a challenge I'm worried about now too!
