@Baltoscott: looks like you’re stuck to 159-160 with super-strong glue! Do you only weigh once a week, on Sundays? Or do you weigh more often, but only report the Sunday weigh-ins? If so, what kind of fluctuations do you see during the week?

Regarding energy expenditure estimated by Fitbit: do you use multiple trackers connected to your main account, or do you track your calories with a single tracker (if so, which one?). Although I (still) don’t log my intake, I do follow closely calories burned estimated by my Surge. Now that I’m about to switch to the Ionic as my main tracker, I’d like to know how close its calories are compared to the Surge.

Canadian Thanksgiving in the books.  One big turkey meal, one big ham meal.  The anxiety still spikes on these weekends but I make a plan and stick to it and that has been serving me well.

@tamado I know it can be so scary sometimes. Those big family weekends. Generally I control them but for the real big events I like to just forget and go with whatever. You can always cut ur calories back the rest of the week.

Its different for everyone though.

I type this this whilst I'm sitting in a cafe with a big bowl of pasta ragu and a glass of Pinot noir lmao.

@Dominique - I’ve got all kinds of possible data burn contamination issues.   For most of the past 4 weeks or so I’ve been testing my One and using it as my sole tracker, but bike ride calories typically come from my Garmin bike computer via Strava or MyFitnessPal (although both activities will show up on my fitbit exercise list, since they represent the same ride over the same time period fitbit will only use one of them, probably the second one that syncs).  I switched to my new Ionic over the past weekend, and for my commutes this week I’ve had both the One and the Ionic with me so I could use the Ionic for GPS activities in DC.  (Since I can’t turn the Ionic off, fitbit has to sort the steps between it and my One on my bike commute, but calories for the commute still come from Garmin via Strava — I use either the Ionic or the One when I get to work depending on the situation, Ionic for workouts, One during the work day because I wear another watch and don’t want to wear the Ionic with it).

Over the course of this past year I have mostly been using the Charge 2.  I usually will compare new fitbit trackers for step count accuracy, but I have not done that with calorie burn for the last couple of fitbits I’ve owned.  I will probably compare the Ionic and Charge 2 starting next week (after I’m a little more familiar with the Ionic).

I weigh daily and report the Sunday trend weight.  For the past two or three weeks my weekend calories have been quite a bit higher than my work week calories and I’m seeing some corresponding weight fluctuations.  Over a typical 7-day period there is around 3 lbs difference between high and low days, but I stretched that to 5 lbs with yesterday’s weigh-in of 163.4 lbs.  That already dropped to 161.6 lbs this morning.

I am following no plan at the moment just eating healthy and endeavouring not to be in a chair as much as possible. I have no time frame to hit my goal weight and I am happy to be on the journey going in the right direction.

For myself I think this was will be the way to keep the weight off long term.Almost at my mini goal. I have lost 13.3kg or 30 lbs so far. All things not planned I should hit it on my next weigh in 🙂

Trend weight is really hammering it home to me that is only a small amount of calories that can be the difference between losing and gaining.

My results after following the recommendation from  @Dominique to exercise daily -- I now have exercised 18 of the last 20 days.  Of course, I'm doing it the lazy way, as is my wont.

- 0.1 lbs since 10.8

-43 since start.

Goal Range: 160-170 lbs

I wound up dropping the daily consumption average by about 300.  Not really on purpose.  The past few weeks have had a lot of extra social calories, which is usually what it takes lately to push me to eat over 3000 calories in a given day.  Will try this week to increase calorie consumption by adding some more nuts and nut butters.

My numbers for this week:

Starting 1-Jan-2017: weight 67.4 kg, BF 18.5%, fat mass: 12.5 kg
Previous 1-May-2017: weight 62.2 kg, BF 15.0%, fat mass: 9.3 kg
.

Previous 4-Sep-2017: weight 60.8 kg, BF 14.6%, fat mass: 8.9 kg

Previous 11-Sep-2017: weight 60.4 kg, BF 14.5%, fat mass: 8.7 kg

Previous 18-Sep-2017: weight 60.2 kg, BF 14.3%, fat mass: 8.6 kg

Previous 25-Sep-2017: weight 60.4 kg, BF 14.2%, fat mass: 8.6 kg

Previous 2-Oct-2017: weight 60.3 kg, BF 14.1%, fat mass: 8.5 kg

Previous 9-Oct-2017: weight 60.0 kg, BF 14.0%, fat mass: 8.4 kg

Current 16-Oct-2017: weight 59.8 kg, BF 13.8%, fat mass: 8.3 kg

Not much change on the weight front, but steady improvement with body fat (I prefer it this way!). I’ll be flying over to Washington DC next Tuesday, so I’ll try to make the most of this week at home in terms of nutrition and exercising. Time spent in the US hasn’t been conducive to fat loss (to say the least!) for me based on past experience Smiley LOL.

Wow, @EmjayH! 50 kg in 11 months is a lot. That’s an average of 2,5 pounds per week. What kind of activity level has allowed you to maintain the required deficit?

Wed; PT with my trainer + run
