Put on just over a stone 😞 was on holiday though, going out to restaurants etc with family I haven’t seen in a while, especially my lovely grandma, so steps taken a tumble whilst calorie intake going up

all good though, a break once in a while is I think a good thing, although I think 1.5 stone is a bit excessive 😄

Hi all. I have been so bad on my weigh-ins and I have a reminder set on my phone!  Such a busy time of year for me. I haven't forgotten you and all the support you provide.  Anyway, I've been busy, sometimes too busy to eat which apparently has off-set my weight gain.  I weighed in on Dec 1 at 148.  I was delighted with that because I've been in the 150s forever.  So as of today, I'm back to 150. 😞  I'm a bit disappointed and don't want to cut myself any slack with time of year, blah, blah, blah.  It is what it is and I'm going to deal with it. Most of my holiday parties are over. Just have tomorrow and Monday and of course New Years Eve.  Would love to just go into those days without a thought of what to eat, caloric intake etc.

Hope everyone is doing well.  thanks for reading.

I can totally relate to @SunsetRunner and @SQUEAKY as being not happy with myself these past weeks. 🙁 I think my biggest downfall has been the drop in # of steps/day but also (if I’m honest) eating holiday sweets and chocolates  and the more often than usual shot of whiskey.

I am inspired by @EmjayH ~ Congrats on reaching your 70 kg by Christmas! Whoop! I had adopted that mini-goal, too, and got down to 70.7 on Saturday, but it went back up to 71.7. (a whole Kilo!?!) within a couple of days.

So, this is not going to turn into a pity party. I know what I have to do ... and what I have to stop doing. “I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul” ~at least as far as my weight goes.

Merry Christmas Peeps!

Since I officially stopped my fat loss phase last Monday, and I’m now planning to gain (hopefully as much lean mass as possible), I decided to switch to a new reporting method: instead of using TrendWeight, I’ll be using standard weekly averages. This should allow me to be more reactive and avoid the inertia built into TW. I’ll still be looking at TW for the bigger picture, though.

My baseline is week 0 that ended on 18-Dec-2017. I’m now reporting week 1 that ended today (Xmas day). My goal is to gain weight at no more than 0.25 kg per week (1 kg per month), so as to be able to be in a caloric surplus for 16 weeks straight until I reach 64 kg. Here is what the plan would look like:

Week 0

Body fat % values in the last column are where I was in 2017 at 64, 63, 62 and 61 kg. Ideally, I would be less than 14.7% when reaching 61 kg, less than 15% when reaching 62 kg etc.

I’ll also include my average step count and energy expenditure for the past week, in order to make it easier for me to adjust my activity according to the weight gain goal.

So here we go:

Week 0, ending 18-Dec-17: 60.2 kg (13.0%), 11.2k steps, 2523 cal.

Week 1, ending 25-Dec-17: 60.5 kg (13.7%), 5.9 steps, 2390 cal. -> +0.23 kg

I had an unusually low step count last week, partly because it was the overreaching week of my weight training mesocycle, partly because days are at their shortest (sunset at 3.15pm). This week is a deload week and it’s also quieter on the work front, so I should be able to resume my normal activity level.

Alright, up half a pound since last week which I don't love but when I consider that I am coming off of five days off and a number of large Christmas gatherings, I won't get too upset.  I'm working for two days and travelling for another five.  It's tough to eat well when you're hotelling it but I'll do my best.

@Jotex: I believe it was @JustMieka who had the issue! @Move.It.Move.It was last seen in the community in early November, I hope she’s well.

Hi! It has been two weeks since I last checked in or stepped on a scale because of the holidays and I am happy with my results.

start:                 153

week 1:             153.5

week 2:             152

week 4 (today): 150!

2 pounds in two weeks is pretty good considering I ate sooo much on Christmas Eve and Christmas. 5 to go!

Best Answer

Congrats @Ideasforyou! Your weight loss, despite the holidays, is worth celebrating! 🍾

Unfortunately I have not been as successful in meeting my weight loss goals these past three weeks. The rate has slowed to a crawl, stagnated, or even gone up a time or two. 😬 E6A62B3A-BC83-4E35-A097-E3BFA63FECCF.jpeg

All the same, I am happy to have crossed from 71+ to 70+, and will continue to strive for a greater loss per week (and eat less!). Next interim goal:  65 kg by Easter. Wish me luck!

 +1.3 lbs since 12.17

Goal Range: 160-170 lbs

It is the last weigh in for 2017.  The increase of 1.3 lbs is about twice what I was looking for, but we seem to be going to a different social event every other night this past 10 days, so food management has been kind of hard.  Things should get back to normal next week/month as the new year comes in.

It is resolution time folks.  Set some good manageable short, mid, and long-term goals for 2018 and get at them.

For my part, I plan to stop drinking alcohol for January in 2018 like I did in 2017, and will continue to try body recomp by increasing weight to around 170 lbs while lifting weights, and then cutting back to my present 160 lbs or so hopefully with more muscle and less fat.

My current plan is to gain weight (hopefully, as much lean mass and as little fat as possible) over the course of 16 weeks, at an average pace of 0.25 kg per week (about 1 kg per month).

Here are my numbers for the past week (including average step count and energy expenditure):

Week 0, ending 18-Dec-17: 60.2 kg (13.0%), 11.2k steps, 2523 cal.

Week 1, ending 25-Dec-17: 60.5 kg (13.4%), 5.9k steps, 2390 cal. -> +0.23 kg

Week 2, ending 1-Jan-18: 60.6 kg (13.6%), 14.0k steps, 2629 cal. -> +0.17 kg

I was back to a more normal (for me) activity level from the unusually low level of the previous week. Average weight gain was a little behind the goal, so I’ll have to eat a bit more this week (and maybe move sightly less).

Here is where I currently stand during this muscle mass gaining phase:

Looks like I will hit the first landmark (61 kg) at a lower BF% than I was at the same weight when cutting.

I’m starting a new weight training mesocycle today (last week was a deload week). Eating-wise I’ll bump my calories slightly up (switching to a new tab on my diet autotemplate): same protein, about same carbs, slightly more fats. Love being able to eat peanut butter again Smiley Happy.

So, I claim my weight range is to be between 155 and 165 but not at weigh in to be honest.  I see those numbers end of day, after a meal, etc but at my weigh in time to be up 2 lbs from the previous week is a bit of a reality check.  I thought I was careful over the holidays but I know my activity level was way down.  Time to get moving and eat lean and clean for a few weeks and see if I can get rid of this.
