I had a bad week, too many food-related events! I still have two more holiday parties, one this weekend, one next week. I need to plan ahead, decide ahead of time what I will eat, and stick to it! I know, the holidays are hard, but I am determined to get back on track NOW.  I have been maintaining for a long time at the upper edge of a healthy BMI, but am ready to lose a few more pounds. My knees will thank me.

Well, I achieved my previous goal weight of 135 lbs just a week ago just eating a balanced diet with no swimming and HIIT intervals for 3 straight weeks because I decided that while I got through a cold relatively quickly, I still have the stubborn cough so I needed to clear that.  Besides, working in nursing meant that when you are sick, you are not allowed to work until I'm in the clear due to possible transmission of what I got to patients that have lower immunity.  I found it interesting that even without exercising, I still lose weight albeit at a slower pace than when I started my exercise routine gradually this week.

I am not recording my diet calories intake.  Just eat to satiety (feeling full) and that works marvellously so far.  Nevertheless, it is interesting to see that what Fitbit recommended in terms of how much calories I should eat is somewhat in line with what I am eating.  So I find the app to be accurate in giving me a forward looking guidance.

Only lost 0.1 kg this week, but down is better than up! A year ago my weight was 71.1 kg — so coming towards years’ end, I am grateful to have lost (and kept off) 6.6 kg (= 14.5 lbs). My motto remains: “Slow and steady wins the race.”

Lost -0.4 pounds this week. Glad I am in maintenance right now...way to much food being offered and available. Every party/gathering you go to has tons of food just sitting out, which is kryptonite to a grazer like myself. I just stay out of the food area, it has worked so far.

Happy I lost .4 kg (almost a pound) since Monday. What do I want for Christmas? 🎄I would love to maintain that steady, weekly loss over, say, a few months. 🎁

+0.3 lbs this week.

The gain isn't too bad for this time of year.  My 'back to normal' after a 10-day cruise earlier this month has included navigating three holiday parties so far, a house guest who arrived last night and will stay through Christmas, prepping the house for a 25-guest Christmas dinner party, and too many meals out to count.  But some of my basic habits are still shining through -- I haven't missed any scheduled trips to the gym, have kept the step and bike miles steady, and eat about 70% normal and have almost 90% success at getting veggies in at every meal.  (I really think that one helps me feel full and better manage my cravings for higher calorie goodies).

Props to @Jotex @HisDudeness @nalagala @HoosierDaddy73 @bikerhiker on great results this years continued downward trends through December.

And @Starchild68 -- As you've pointed out, this is a tough time of year to maintain, let alone lose weight, but the weekly weigh-ins (daily in my case) help a lot with management.  Keep it up.

@Baltoscott Nice work in keeping your weight well managed during the Cruise and through the holiday festives!

I have revised my goal weight to 133 lbs as I feel that I am already approaching the second weight plateau.  The first being @142 lbs.  I'll let it float up and down during the holiday festives, and then in early 2019 maintain around 133-135 lbs mark for a few months to let my body settle into this new weight so it becomes easier for me to defend it when I decide to go for the last fat loss which will put me in the 15% body fat range.  Currently I am in between 19-20% body fat.

I expected the holidays to be tough for weight management, but was especially surprised when I stepped on the scale today. Trendweight is up about 1.4 pounds from a week ago; and just down .4 pounds from a month ago. My first real slow down in a long time. Of course, there have been plenty of eating and drinking opportunities during Christmas week, and I'm sure there will be plenty more up through New Years. Also, I haven't been able to exercise quite as much. Hoping to get on track soon.

I've had a net weight loss every month since I started tracking in September. December is going to be close though. haha.

Despite the holiday chaos, it was nice to have time off from usual activities so that I could work out more often at the Y.  I tried some different fitness classes and there are some new virtual walk/run courses on the treadmills, so I "hiked" in New Zealand and N California, kinda fun. One more holiday dinner to go…..

Happy New Year everyone! When I logged in to Trendweight today I had a nice surprise. IF I am good (very good) and continue on this track, I should reach my goal weigh by mid-March 2019! That gives me an excellent incentive to stick to my health, diet and fitness goals. Wish me luck!

Happy New Years!

I had a great start to 2018 with a focus of gaining muscle and healthy weight (I was a little underweight going into 2018).  I looked great and felt great until we moved across the country in June.

I went on hormonal birth control around March, coupled with falling off my usual healthy way of eating (I hate the word diet) over the summer left me gaining around 18lbs between June and the end of the year, despite keeping up with workouts and running.  Ugh.

The worst part was over this last weekend.  My husband and I were headed to his birthday brunch and low and behold, none of my jeans fit me.  I was really upset.  I had to wear my running tights to my husband's nice birthday brunch.  And then I bought two pairs of new jeans while we were out, but I absolutely refuse to take the tags off until I have to.  Maybe I can return them if I can lose enough weight in the next few weeks...

So here I am, hoping to get back to where I was at the beginning of last summer.  Plus, I am going off the birth control to get that crap out of my system while watching my portions and cutting out the processed sugar.

Starting Weight as of 12/31/18: 138lbs

Current Weight: 136.2lbs

Goal Weight: 117-122lbs

Best of luck everyone with their goals!

I'm brand new to Fitbit - I just received a Fitbit from my husband for Christmas - and am hopeful that the activity + calorie counting will help me stay focused and motivated to reach my weight loss goals.  So far, I really love it!  I've tried and failed to lose weight several times in the past few years, but over the past week I have been off the couch and to the gym or out the door with the dog more than ever.  This forum is a great motivator as well.  Accountability is a good thing. 🙂

I had an unwanted "mini-bulk" in December picking up 2 lbs while on travel for about half the month.  I'm still in my maintenance range, but I'm looking forward to January and getting back into my normal mostly unprocessed-foods diet.  Plan to cut to 155 lbs over the next three or four months and try to hold it there over the summer.
