Week 7/12 of fat loss phase during which I try to lose between 0.25 and 0.50 kg per week:

Week 0, ending 7-Apr-19: 63.3 kg, 17.7k steps, 2827 cal.

Week 1, ending 14-Apr-19: 63.1 kg, 15.2k steps, 2635 cal. -> -0.21 kg

Week 2, ending 21-Apr-19: 62.7 kg, 18.2k steps, 2724 cal. -> -0.40 kg

Week 3, ending 28-Apr-19: 62.1 kg, 12.6k steps, 2567 cal. -> -0.64 kg

Week 4, ending 5-May-19: 62.0 kg, 21.0k steps, 2892 cal. -> -0.04 kg

Week 5, ending 12-May-19: 61.7 kg, 24.4k steps, 3117 cal. -> -0.29 kg

Week 6, ending 19-May-19: 61.4 kg, 29.2k steps, 3354 cal. -> -0.36 kg

Week 7, ending 26-May-19: 60.6 kg, 19.5k steps, 2810 cal. -> -0.74 kg

Despite being less active than in the previous two weeks, I had the biggest weekly drop (-0.74kg) so far, which brings the actual weight curve (green) right in the middle of my self-assigned band:

2019-05-27_0934.png

Looks like I could be somewhere between 58 and 59 kg at the end of this 12-week cycle.

First week of maintenance and I gained +0.8 pounds. Not overly surprising as I ate a bit more food than normal since my calorie intake was close to what I burned. Hate going backwards, but it was nice eating some more food and having a beer!

Finally, my one year effort in body recomposition has yielded its fruit.  My weight is stable, and yet my lean muscle mass had increased and my body fat mass had decreased to almost a 1:1 ratio (10 lbs gain of lean muscle tissue) vs a loss of (10lbs of fat mass) as just what my doctor had predicted!  I just didn't realize that it is very slow methodical work, but I am glad that while my body measurements picked up the changes every month I was in the bulking up phase, it was not until last week when I saw my Renpho scale picking up my body changes and reflecting correctly the trends of my body composition.  Looking at my body now, I think I am now in the 14-15% body fat range or maybe less, eventhough Renpho said I'm at 13% BF.  The second phase of my body recomposition, which should take me another year or so, should allow me to drop that body fat% down to 10-12% range, but I know it will get much harder to do so to reduce body fat while preserving the lean tissue I have now as well as growing more as I get leaner.

Anyhow, without further adieu, here are my stats below.

Renpho scale:

Weight: 135lb (down from 160 in 2018)

Body fat: 13% (down from 26% in 2018)

Measured using tape:

Waist line: 29" (down from 34" in 2018)

Up 0.8 lbs.  The start of summer can be a little challenging ... graduation parties, trips to the beach, social events, local festivals.  I'm not really worried.  Weight has been stable for a year and a half now, but still, it is good to be mindful.

@bikerhiker -- looking at your TrendWeight graph, you lost about 15% of your bodyweight in the second half of 2018, and have maintained that loss throughout 2019.  And 5" off your waist when you started at 34" is also around 15%.

If you haven't gone out and bought your new wardrobe yet, I think it might be time :-).

It is not so easy buying my new wardrobe as I thought it would be.  It is hard to buy affordable pants with a 29-30" waist line, but maybe I wasn't looking hard enough.  The hardest part I find, however, is finding nursing scrubs, especially the pants.  Most male nursing scrub pants are sized a bit bigger than I like and I have to pay big bucks to get them, so what I had to do is now buy women's nursing pants and they fit me very well at a much more reduced costs.  I have to get used to the pink and red stripes typically for girly pants but it seemed the girls where I work in don't even care if I wear girly pants!  LOL 🙂

No change at all during the past week, which is a bit disappointing, especially since I’ve been quite active. I simply have to be more serious with restricting food. Still within the planned range, however:

Hi all!

It's Rachel, back again. I've been off the boards for about a year and a half, during which time I became a full-time cancer caregiver, then a widow with three young kids trying to make it in the big city, and now a widow with three young kids living the semi-rural life in Front Range Colorado. I prefer the last of these, trust me.

So, it's time to get back on the bandwagon! I've gotten back up to 205 (ouch), but am on track with my eating right now. I'm also trying (all over again) to get my thyroid numbers into a decent range. A couple of years of ignoring my own health in favor of my dying spouse and hurting children hasn't done my health (or the kids') any favors, let me tell you!

Here's my first official weigh-in of the Comeback of 2019!

Starting weight 205     5/29/2019

Current weight 199.2   6/12/2019   (-5.8)

Goal weight 150

Glad to see names I know on the board! Keep up the good work, everyone!!

As this April-June cycle maintenance cycle comes to an end, I think I will have to extend it a couple of months. Although I was planning on a three month bulk to build some muscle, I’ve been struggling in the gym lately because of MCL sprain on one side of my body and frozen shoulder on the other.  I think I’ve turned the corner on the knee, but my doctor prescribed physical therapy for the shoulder.  In any event, I think if I tried a bulking phase right now, all I would get is more fat instead of muscle.

@RachelShrinks —  You have certainly received your share of curveballs over the past 18 months, but I’m glad to see that in spite of it all, you are remembering to take care of yourself.  Be kind to yourself and remember this is a lifetime journey full of ups and downs.  Welcome back!

Very modest drop (0.2kg) this week, but I’ll take that:

I'm not looking forward to next week—well, I am, because my entire 24-person-strong family is coming to town for an amazing family reunion to celebrate my Dad's 80th birthday and my sister's 50th. But dude, stress. Like, lots of it. I'm the only person people give a hard time about my weight (my sister and one of my sisters-in-law are both overweight, but no one seems to notice.), so I have to go through everyone scrutinizing what I eat. Plus I have to help provide the food.

Stress, thy name is family.

I'm rocking it, weight-wise, and I've bought a beautiful dress that makes me look good, so stuff it, people. I'm gonna let you be you and I'm gonna be me, all right?
