Weight Loss Goal 50 to 100 Pounds

Hi!

I'm trying to lose 75 pounds, hopefully at a rate of 1.5 pounds per week. I started on my journey a week and a half ago and I'm currently down 3.6 pounds.  I'm looking forward to a healthier lifestyle and if you want friends for extra motivation feel free to add me.  🙂

Hi y'all! I'm finally tossing the excuses and committing to getting back in shape this year. My normal extras 10lbs grew to an extra 55lbs due to a lot of stuff - illness, living in a foreign country, full time school plus an office job, ect. But in January I decided to make my health a priority, took less classes (still full time, but 12 credits instead of 16), and re-committed to my fitbit. So, progress:

SW: 178(on a 5'2" frame)
CW: 163
GW: 125-130 (what ever feels good/healthy)

The first steps were HARD. But the more progress I make, the better I feel and the more psyched I get. I have about 40lbs to go, which sounds a lot easier than 55 to me! 🙂 🙂

Click on the name of the person you want to add. On the page that brings up click "about". Once on the about section on the bottom click "go to fitbit.com profile". Once on the person's profile click "add friend" 🙂

Hi Maddison.  I completely relate to what you're going through.  I think most of us feel your frustration and pain. I'm going through something similar with my steps per day.  This past Friday, I started a on-week vacation and it seems I'm also taking a vacation from my 10k steps per day.

It isn't uncommon for people to have setbacks.  This won't be my first, I know that.  Something I always say to myself, "it doesn't matter if I keep falling, it matters that I keep trying.  Someday it will stick."

I'll make you a deal: tomorrow we start again.  Doesn't matter what's happened til now, tomorrow is a clean slate towards our goals. 🙂

Maddison I know how you feel. What I have learned is to take it one day at a time. If you make a mistake don't sweat it the next day. It's a marathon not a sprint and there will be lots of speed bumps in the way. 🙂

Hi Lisa,

I have about the same goal. Great work with losing 3.6 pounds already!

Are you eating all the calories fitbit recommends?

I am always under. I don't know if that is such a good thing.

ive done it before. i lost 100 lbs from march 2010 to may 2012, but once i got into a relationship and got married i lost focus and gained 45 lbs from june 2012 til now.

now that baby girl is on the way i want to be a healthy dad. im thinking 215-225 range would be perfect for my height.

good luck to you all on your goals!

Hi tarebear! I'm finding I'm usually under the calories fitbit recommends, but that's because I don't eat my exercise calories. I haven't been as good this week about hitting my 10,000 steps as I would have liked to being on vacation but the second part of my vacation is less chaotic so I'm hoping I can get back into my normal exercise routine. 🙂

Welcome Amaury! Congratulations! That's so exciting! I'm glad you found the motivation you need to get back on track! If you are this dedicated already she's going to be one lucky girl!

Hi Lisa,

Yeah....I'm a bit frustrated today. I've been working so hard (exercising 65 to 120 minutes a day), eating healthy, and staying under my calories but still eating a lot....and I did not lose anything this week. It is that time of the month, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I am also drinking a LOT of water (100-150oz)....and have been wondering if that is too much, but I am thirsty. I have a Bubba, which is 52oz...super easy to drink a few of those a day.

I guess I just want to find out if I need to eat more to stay within the zone instead of under. While the fitbit is super motivating, I just keep getting confused on the calorie intake/output & deficit.

Any thoughts...this is to anyone?

Thanks,

Tara

Wow, am I behind on here!!! Way to go, Annegirl!! Feels great to recommit and get after it! You go!

And TareBear, I usually try to stick to a fixed number of calories myself- I figure anything "extra" that Fitbit suggests are just bonus burned cals. I do eat extra on Sundays since I do a distance run in the mornings and I love me some brunch after 🙂

And amaury1019- good for you!!! If you are anything like my husband, he put on more pregnancy weight than I did! And what's hard for dads is that you don't get to lose the weight of the baby, fluid etc automatically. But stick to it! Your daughter is totally worth it! And if you can, get your partner on board after baby comes. My hubs and I keep eachother motivated and take our little girl (she's 3 months now, but we started when she was 2-3 weeks old) on walks in her Bjorn and runs in our jogging stroller. We also have been working hard to cook and eat family dinners together the nights that we can (we have cray busy schedules) so we can get and stay in that habit as she grows.

I like many of the options of fitbit, but overall I am finding it a bit not user friendly.  Is any one else having problems with the steps synicing with your compter?  This morning I recieved a weekly summary for the first time comparing my stats with my friends' stats.  Overall it is good for competition, however, it could be depressing to others who didn't rank first...just my opinion.  Off and on over the past several years I have used My Fitness Pal and their app is easier to communicate with friends.  Again just my opinion...your thoughts? Hi Tarebear!

I never lose weight during my period. I often "gain" 2-5lbs that leaves once it's over. Don't sweat it ;-). The overall progress in the important part, not the fluctuations.

Water is good! And water weight is only a number on the scale! Drinking water also keeps you from over eating to compensate for hunger-if you're thirsty, drink. Again, fluctuations = not a problem.

While you don't want to eat ALL your extra calories, if say you take a 5 mile run above your normal activities, eating back about half of those calories is a good practice. 5 days a week,I aim to eat 1600 a day and burn 2400-2600 (800-1000 deficit) . 2 days a week I eat 1800-2200 - splurge days keep me motivated and the calorie spike tells my body there is still food around. As someone who struggled with an eating disorder (border line anorexic in college)(what got me into this mess, btw) this is just as important for my mental health as it is to keep my metabolism from freaking out. Even on splurge days I'm usually in about 200-300 calorie deficit - but if I'm not, that's ok. Finally, if I'm burning enough to get above a 1000 deficit, I eat at least half of it back. From what I've read, too high of a deficit is not that healthy, not long term.

Since January, I've lost 16lbs, 2 pant sizes, 4" off my waist, and 3 cup sizes in my bra. I feel full after meals, I don't get headaches, and I have more energy (focusing on what kind of food I eat helps with that. I eat 45%carbs, 30%fat, and 25% protein)

Hello everyone.

What a great bunch of peeps here!

I feel like I have finally found the right group on a community thread!  I think I must have been on this merry-go-round for the past gazillion years.  Always thinking that this time it will be the time I commit - and then I get really in to it, lose about 20-30 of the 100ish that I'm needing to lose and then get derailed.  I am really working on not being an all or nothing kind of person. Those of us with perfectionist issues will understand.  I remember the last time I was really on track - down 30ish pounds and a good friend of mine said to me as I was staring at a Rocky Road bar..."You know you've more than earned it"  and that was that.  Oh then I earned pizza and coke and appetizers and not going for long walks etc etc until I no longer had any sense of healthy patterns I developed. It seems so ridiculous for me to say that one Rocky Road bar got me back to where I'm at today, but in away I suppose it did.  I hadn't figured out how to make it work.

I've read everyone's posts in this thread and can really relate to so many.  I would love to have some friends added who I can encourage and motivate, challenge and celebrate because that's what I'm looking for. It would be nice to participate in some friendly challenges too.

So please add me if it sounds like we are on the same path.

Cheers,

Hayley

My path isn't always straight or clear, but at least I'm on the way somewhere.

Thanks Annegirl!

I will keep all of that in mind. I still went for my walk today and am trying to eat right.

What do you do to get your steps in?

Are you in the Seattle area?

Talk to you soon.

Hi Hayley! Amen and hallelujah gal pal, I feel your story on every level. But today is different because it's now; all those mistakes and failures are behind us, and the future lies ahead. We'll have bumps and setbacks along the way, but it is going to be well worth it!
Adding you as soon as I post this. Get at it girl!
