One Availability and Alternatives

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Though Fitbit One is a popular product, as we introduce new products, we occasionally make changes to our product line to keep you on track with the most up-to-date health and fitness tracking tools.

As a result, we no longer sell the One. We recommend considering the other discreet options we offer- Fitbit Zip, if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. Or, take our quiz on http://www.fitbit.com/compare to see which device meets your needs best.

Please note that we will continue to support the One and, if necessary, provide replacements for devices in warranty.

We do know there are many fans of the One who would like to discuss alternatives and have created this thread for discussion and merged a few posts together. Please keep in mind Community Guidelines when posting.

At this time, feedback has been shared on the One status and there are no plans to bring this particular tracker back at this time, we will not be able to comment further.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.

That looks exciting!

I love my One, but if there’s a newer and more up-to-date replacement coming in the near future I’d be up for buying one. I bought a One because I wear a watch -  I’m not interested in weairing anything more on my wrist.

So I’m VERY interested to see what new product the One will be replaced with, and what kinds of features and capabilities the new model will have.

Agree with your statement, Love the simple One great for the working class person the Zip is even bigger and does less Ultimately I would take a One with no display and a battery that last for weeks. Not everyone wants a notepad on there wrist. I have a phone and a computer if I want to see the info.

With a full family on fitbit might be time to sell off the stuff and move on to another manufacture, That is not chasing apple.

'Working class people'? What?

Why would Fitbit decide to get rid of the One???? That makes no sense. There are so many people who can’t or don’t like wearing something on their wrist all the time. So your answer is to use the Zip? The Zip is a downgrade :-(. I started with the Zip and when I got the One, I knew I could never go back to the Zip.  Hopefully my One will continue to work. If I’m forced to get a wristband tracker, I may look elsewhere.

Best Answer

Never owned an Alta, does the device pop out of the wristband so you can hook it into the 3rd party clip?

My One is dying and I need an alternative to wearing something on my wrist.

Best Answer

The Alta is easy to remove from the wristband. I ordered a magnetic clip for mine from Amazon, works like a charm. Still miss my One though....

@sailorangel59 Yes, the alta has changeable bands, so it's about the same size as a One (a little longer, more rectangle) when not attached. Slips easily into the 3rd party clip.  I posted pictures of the alta and one next to each other so you can see sizes and I wore them together for a few days to check step counts (they were pretty close, much more so than the Charge2 on my wrist). http://jenbsjourney.blogspot.com/2017/12/fitbit-one-done-alta-alternative.html

Funny ... I posted on twitter about my alta experiment and Fitbit replied almost immediately that they don't really suggest wearing their products in different ways than intended. But then, THEY offer a pendant option for the Flex2 so ... MY results seemed to indicate the Alta was quite accurate in a clip on my bra. In my opinion, it's the wrist wearing (any device) that is less accurate than torso tracking.

...and consumers wouldn't have to wear Fitbits in incorrect ways if Fitbit would just continue to make the one or an equivalent. I did have to laugh a little at their quick response though (not that I have any following on Twitter anyway, but I did tag @Fitbit in my post) ... I do think they pay more attention to social media than these forums!

So what you are saying is maybe we should flood their Twitter with messages of bring back the One of release an equivalent.  We might get a waist clip thing back that is better than the Zip?

This change doesn't make sense to me either.  The Zip is blah in comparison to the other offerings, and I can't wear jewelry or watches on my skin when I exercise, you know doing the activities the Fitbit is supposed to track, or else I break out in a rash due to sweat getting under there.

Thanks for the advice

Haha, well there's no doubt that the wrist worn devices are less accurate.  There have been many studies that confirm this to be true.  But I think these companies are going for the wow factor.  Gee, you can see your heart rate on your wrist 24/7.  Sheesh.  For those of us who are looking for accuracy and the original purpose of these trackers, than there is no doubt the ONE fit the bill.  Let us know how the modified Alta works.  Some have said it doesn't compare well to the ONE, but it may be something of an option.

@ScrapjenB what is the name or model # of the third party clip you used with the Fitbit Alta? I looked on your blog post but couldn't figure it out.. I am interested in doing the same (using the Alta with a third party clip) once my Fitbit One dies... Thanks! 🙂

@LizzieR I bought the Hedona Magnetic Clip for Alta from Amazon (and I updated that info on the blog just in case anyone else looks there and wonders). It seemed pretty secure to me. I wear mine with the Fitbit facing inward (bra or pocket) so in the off chance it did slip out, the Fitbit would be caught by my clothes. But the One has slipped out of it's case (when I'm sweaty) easier than the alta out of this (in my limited experiment, it was just a couple of days).

My Dad got a Flex for Christmas and the box says there is a clip option for
it, but there isn’t anything about a Flex clip on the website. Any answers
to that? I’d consider getting a Flex once my One dies, although of course
it doesn’t count stairs and there’s (oddly) no display, so I’m not sure
that I’d want to waste my money on it.

Go to Amazon and search for Fitbit flex clip. Less than ten bucks! Merry Christmas!

The Flex does not count stairs, which is an important part of my activity.  It also has dots, not exact number of steps. I started with the original Flex and found it very limited. While I’d love a clip that does all that the Charge does, I can live without all that. But stairs and a display with number of steps is key.

@ScrapjenB: Great, thanks so much!! I found your blog super helpful and I will follow suit (using the Alta + Hedona Magnetic Clip) once my Fitbit One dies. It's a fantastic work around which replaces the Fitbit One perfectly for my needs! I feel like Fitbit should reward your marketing expertise by offering this wonderful solution! 😉

I am so sad to hear that you are no longer selling the One. I really enjoy mine and was hoping to get one for my mom for New Years so she could sync with me and my sister. Now that she cannot get one, the three of us may have to look for a different brand offering a product we can use. The Zip is a waste of money as it does not track sleep and has a replaceable battery instead of a charger. I can certainly get a cheaper pedometer with that level of functionality. The watch-like products (i.e., the rest of your line) are too big for our tiny wrists as we are petite women. These other fitbits are very uncomfortable to wear! I hope this business model pays off for you, as many of us may well switch brands rather than be forced to buy super expensive and uncomfortable products! I am very disappointed. 😞

Agree with everything you said. We need a clip on tracker for steps,
stairs and sleep. Rechargeable battery, too. By the way, Christmas Eve I
lost my Fitbit One and and I was devastated. I found it two days
later--clipped to a shirt that I had put through the washer and dryer. It
still works. Amazing. I hope it lasts me a few more years, and hopefully
by that time, someone will have the sense to replace the One with something
just like it.
