One Availability and Alternatives

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Though Fitbit One is a popular product, as we introduce new products, we occasionally make changes to our product line to keep you on track with the most up-to-date health and fitness tracking tools.

As a result, we no longer sell the One. We recommend considering the other discreet options we offer- Fitbit Zip, if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. Or, take our quiz on http://www.fitbit.com/compare to see which device meets your needs best.

Please note that we will continue to support the One and, if necessary, provide replacements for devices in warranty.

We do know there are many fans of the One who would like to discuss alternatives and have created this thread for discussion and merged a few posts together. Please keep in mind Community Guidelines when posting.

At this time, feedback has been shared on the One status and there are no plans to bring this particular tracker back at this time, we will not be able to comment further.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.

Hey, everybody.  I think I figured out why fitbit was able to make the decision to discontinue the One. Check the about page at https://www.fitbit.com/about, we see that fitbit has a CEO, CTO, CFO, CMO, CAO, 2 GM's, a SVP, 2 EVP's and 21 VP's. Holy cow!  That's 31 senior-level managers.  They even have a VP, Communications; although, she's apparently not interested in communicating with customers. 😞

Well. No wonder they make stupid decisions. There are far too many cooks in the kitchen!

Or, maybe I'm looking at this wrong. Maybe they need to hire one more C-level officer: a CVO, Chief Value Officer - because, some of us ain't getting any.

No, Santi, I will not consider anything that doesn't count stairs. (And I don't swim, so that's not my issue.) And I need a clip-on. For one thing, my wrists are too small to wear any of your wrist trackers - even if I wanted to wear something that looks like that, which I don't. (I like my watch.) The One is perfect for my needs.

I had a scare (make that a panic) this morning when my One died, and I learned the horrible news that Fitbit had killed the model. Fortunately, a helpful customer service agent helped me resuscitate it, but I'm deeply disappointed that you no longer have a clip-on. (The Zip, which is a cludgy, overpriced pedometer that can't even be charged, doesn't count.)

I have Stage IV breast cancer, which has metastasized to my lower back and hip. I think my survival so far is due in good part to my commitment to keep moving. I got an Ultra in 2011, when I was in recovery from chemo/surgery/radiation, and moved to a One when it died; I try always to make at least 10,000 steps a day, and shoot for 15,000. The One been invaluable to me, and I have been an evangelist for this company.

I figured the model couldn't last forever, but I assumed that an updated version would be issued. I was dumbfounded to discover that a great product was simply dumped.

For a consumer company, Fitbit seems curiously uninterested in the wants and needs of its customers. I've been reading this thread, and marveling at the number of faithful users you're apparently willing to kiss goodbye. I hope that someone will realize what you're throwing away here.

And if anyone could suggest an equivalent clip-on from a company that cares about its customers, I'd be interested in knowing what it is, just in case I survive my One. Thanks!

No More One!

So sorry. What a bad decision, I would have bought my third One, but you don't make it anymore. Sorry, but I do not want a band, at all. I will not buy a device I have to wear on my wrist. The only option is the Zip but it is not worth the money because it lacks many of the features I loved about the One (silent alarm, floor counting, time). So, good bye fitbit.

I loved your product except that the batteries would not last more than a year of use.  I've got two which still work except that the batteries barely last a day. Can you repair these?

Good Luck on your recovery! I've added you to my prayer list. I too have no
desire to wear something on my wrist and am hoping my One hangs in there
until I locate another company that values those of us who promoted this
company back when Dr Oz showcased the "paperclip" sized activity monitors
made by Fitbit on his show. I hope to find another company and when I do
I'll be sure to advertise it to my friends and anyone who remains with
Fitbit. I'm in awe of your commitment to health and hope you stick around.
God Bless.

Totally agree!  I love the one.  It's slim (and much smaller than the ugly hunk of the only other option).  I love clipping mine to my pocket!  I don't wear anything on my wrists (and from what I've seen from others, the wrists ones wear fast and usually end up needing a new band).  If the wrist one wasn't so long and bulky, I might considered wearing one.  It's longer than my small wrist and it looks and feels awful.  I hope Fitbit comes up with a new option to replace the One.

Thank you, Jillstacey.

It's just hard to understand why Fitbit would deliberately dump a chunk of the market.

Absolutely correct!  Sick and tired of wasting time trying to get my One to sync or the battery running out in a day.  And yet, the One was the only device I wanted to use (back in the day when they still worked properly) because of the info and not having to wear it on your wrist.  All the wrist pedos are ugly.  Might as well strap a big abacus to your wrist to keep track of your numbers.

So true. Wish they’d listen to customer feedback on here.

Hello everyone! Thanks for all of your comments and feedback on this thread regarding the Fitbit One. I understand we are all missing it.

I was checking the Feature Suggestions Board and I was able to find a couple of interesting ideas pointing to the future. The first one is to release a clip-on accessory for other Fitbit trackers. The second one is to make a future clip-on tracker with more features. If you haven't done so already, vote for these ideas. The more votes the better.

Also, if non of those ideas really ask for what you need, you can always create a new suggestion for a future Fitbit product.

See you around!

@SantiRI realize you are trying to be helpful and I appreciate that effort.

However, we have zero evidence that anyone at Fitbit ever takes user requests into account in making decisions.

In addition, I was ad-spammed in my app again this morning. These ads are so incredibly obnoxious that at this point I don't care what new product you come up with, I will never ever spend another penny on anything sold by Fitbit.

Hi Santi! If you make a waterproof One, that would be wonderful.  I don't and won't wear anything on my wrists so I love love love my One! The only thing that would make it better is if you could wear it swimming.  But I'm hoping you come out with a  better version... otherwise Garmin will have my business from now on

Thanks for the reply, SantiFitbit.  At least we aren't being *completely* ignored, though your attention, honestly, and no offense intended, means absolutely nothing in the grand scheme of things...unless you're a Fitbit executive "slumming" in the forums.

My question is:  Is there any mechanism that gets our feedback here in front of someone with any actual decision-making power?  Or are we all wasting our time here, just commiserating with our fellow One-mourners?

I've seen absolutely no indications that anything we Fitbit customers say gets any attention from anyone other than the occasional moderator.    The company is literally throwing away a pretty substantial market share here, serving it up on a silver platter to the competition.  Anyone with any sense whatsoever, with any marketing experience at all (even as minimal as having once run a lemonade stand!) would know that you do your **ahem**edest to fill every possible market niche.  You make the clip-on trackers (real ones, like the One, not the Zilch...err...Zip.)  You make the wrist trackers.  You make the clips.  You make the wristbands.  You make the accessories.  You don't cede any territory to your competition.

And you listen to your customers!   You're not in business to please yourselves.  You're in business to make products that please US.  You're in business to make products that WE will BUY.  Because if you don't make products that please us, that we want to buy, you won't be in business for long.

Santi, "interesting ideas pointing to the future" are all very well, but they don't address the real problem: Fitbit killed a solid product without providing a replacement for it. (I think we're all agreed that the Zip is not a viable alternative?)

This is bad planning and bad marketing, and it shouldn't be that way. When my Ultra died, there was the One as its successor. But when the One was eliminated, we were all just told to put a large plastic object on our wrists. That's clearly not a possibility for a lot of us.

I would love a waterproof version of the One with a longer battery life, and, preferably, a clip that won't have to be replaced a half-dozen times over the lifetime of the tracker. Don't tell me to ask for it now, months after my preferred tracker got the kibosh. Show me.

I agree with the others that say that Fitbit isn’t really listening to us. There is no evidence that shows us a person with the power to do something at Fitbit even cares what we think.

When I posted on Fitbit’s FB Page that was disappointed that the One was being discontinued and why (it was much better than the Zip, and the only wrist tracker), they referred me to their product page. Which doesn’t show anything but the Zip and wrist trackers. They even misspelled my name in their reply. When I responded telling them the link didn’t offer me anything I was interested in, they gave me a link to companies that sell Fitbit to see if they had the One available. I checked a few, and they didn’t have it. I don’t have all day available to search every link. Of the ones I checked, only Amazon has it, but they want over $250.00 for the One. No thank you! I don’t like it that much. I’m pretty such I can find an alternative from another company that isn’t so expensive.

Santi, I've spent some time reading the replies in both this thread and in the suggestions thread.

I'm struck by reports - mentioned over and over - that Fitbit apparently decided to kill the One because the corporate Powers that Be want people to see our devices (which means they have to be on our wrists, or, I suppose, dangling around our necks), and that such visibility outweighs all other considerations.

It makes me wonder if Fitbit is a serious business, or just someone's hobby. Either the PTB are so arrogant that they assumed that all current Fitbit users would automatically migrate to wrist trackers, or they don't care about alienating a sizeable chunk of the market if that chunk won't go along.

I don't know a great deal about business, but I do remember being a Girl Scout and selling cookies. When ordering extras, you definitely wanted to go heavy on the Thin Mints - but you had to remember that some people really only want the peanut butter sandwich cookies. To fail to consider them was the throw away sales. Why would Fitbit do the same thing?

Excellent post. I've been following and contributing to these threads regarding the One for months now. I agree, we're just talking with each other and preaching to the choir. Occasionally SantiFit chimes  in, tries to redirect us to wrist devices and placate us but gives us no reason to believe that Fitbit is listening. Sadly, I think the One, in any form, is a thing of the past. Very unfortunate. Time to move on.
