One Availability and Alternatives

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Though Fitbit One is a popular product, as we introduce new products, we occasionally make changes to our product line to keep you on track with the most up-to-date health and fitness tracking tools.

As a result, we no longer sell the One. We recommend considering the other discreet options we offer- Fitbit Zip, if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. Or, take our quiz on http://www.fitbit.com/compare to see which device meets your needs best.

Please note that we will continue to support the One and, if necessary, provide replacements for devices in warranty.

We do know there are many fans of the One who would like to discuss alternatives and have created this thread for discussion and merged a few posts together. Please keep in mind Community Guidelines when posting.

At this time, feedback has been shared on the One status and there are no plans to bring this particular tracker back at this time, we will not be able to comment further.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.

Keep trying! I have to reboot at least once a week- and sometimes it takes several reboots plus a computer reboot- but so far it works

Those of you who stated the One is much more accurate than the wrist-worn trackers couldn't be more right.  I went to Target today wearing both my Blaze and One.  I walked around the perimeter of the store 2X as well as in and out of aisles.  When all was said and done my One tracked just over 1800 more steps than my Blaze.  This is no small chunk of change, it's a big deal, a very significant difference.  With the Blaze, you might get an inflated step count if you tend to use your hands a lot, r conversely, lose a lot of steps if you are pushing a shopping cart or a stroller.  Except for the Zip, this whole entire line is all wrist-worn trackers, but my introduction to Fitbit was the result of owing an Ultra and then a One.  It is through these clip-on trackers that I developed the affinity I did for Fitbit.  We don't need another wrist model; please work on a clip-on, or simplify matters by manufacturing the One again!

If it hadn't been for clip-ons, I would never have bought a fitness tracker. I still don't get the "streamlining" of the product line, since it's all about killing their best product. Why don't they care about people who can't wear wrist trackers?

I just lost my Fitbit One a few days ago -- so disappointed! There is no other product in the line that matches the price point and features of the One. The Zip is junk. So I went with buying a Flex 2 to make due until I can afford to get an Apple Watch instead. Just hope I'm not allergic to the metal clips and contacts on the Flex 2 (nickel allergy). At least the Flex 2 is being sold for less now (only $10 more than the Zip). Looking to get a 3rd party clip so I can wear the Flex like I did the One as well.

I am still lucky enough to have a functioning One-tending toward the Vivofit 4 when the One dies.
Does anyone know how the Vivofit sleep fiction compares to the One sleep data?

How does the Alta sleep tracking compare to the One?

How is the Alta Sleep tracking? ( I lost my One 😞 )

@JEH1  I only experimented a couple nights with both the Alta and One ... the sleep tracking looked very similar on both devices. One nice thing the Alta does that the One does not, is auto tracking. With the one, you have to stop/start it by pressing the button (and I didn't like to do this, because I like to glance at my Fitbit in the night for the time, and the clock doesn't show if the timer is running tracking sleep) or by manually entering your times to bed and waking up ... the Alta does it automatically by sensing when your movements (or lack thereof), which is interesting data itself.

The Alta also does this autotracking for exercise.

Thanks. Very helpful. Any problems syncing the Alta?

One more question: Can you get the Alta with a buckle? I have arthritis and can' t use the clasp straps.

Thanks

@JEH1  No problems syncing the Alta ... it really is very similar to the One, except for the missing floors feature.  The Alta comes with the clasp strap, which even without arthritis issues, I don't care for. When we got an Alta for my son, the first thing we did was order a set of extra bands - ones with a buckle. These are produced by a 3rd party (not Fitbit), but are very inexpensive and work great. If you were planning on wearing the Alta on the wrist as designed, I would give a thumbs up for the heart rate feature (the Alta has two models, one with HR, one without ... the one without is less expensive). I enjoy watching the heart rate data (while I wear my One on my torso, I wear a ChargeHR on my wrist).

But ... you can also buy a 3rd party clip for the Alta and wear it just like you've worn your One if you don't want to switch to a wrist model. That's my plan when my One eventually gives out. Even though I do wear a ChargeHR, I'm used to my double feedback, and I can't sleep with something on my wrist (I just clip my One to my jammies).

I just read your message and noticed that Fitbit doesn't sell the One model anymore. I still have mine and it works. I was curious if it was waterproof. I've had it a long time, so I don't remember.
I don't think it is, but I'm just checking since I'd like to be ready when it's time to go swimming.

If it's not, is there a way to make it waterproof?

Thanks for your help!

You can still scroll through the clock, steps, stairs, etc. scenes on the
One while the timer is running...just click the button like normal

@AnnaDelu The One is not waterproof ... many a One has drowned when accidentally left on clothes thrown into the wash (although the odd One has survived here and there). I think only the Flex2 is touted as waterproof.  The new Ace (aimed at kids, looks exactly like the regular Alta to me) is water-resistant, saying kids could leave it on during showers or when playing in the rain, but not enough for swimming. All the others I think are just enough to deal with the daily water touches (hitting a wrist model while washing hands, my One gets pretty sweat covered on my torso at times).

Thanks you so much for your quick response! I'm considering buying the Flex 2 now, but would like to find it pre-owned so it won't cost as much. 🙂

Thanks again!

@mjkey  I "think" I knew that I could still scroll through other stats/clock when the timer was running, I'm just always a bit nervous that I'll accidentally hold the button long enough to stop the timer. Especially at night when I'm barely awake enough to press the button once to see the time. *Ü*  I used to have a clock by my bed, but the ambient light it put out (even on the lowest setting) would annoy me. Just glancing at the One in the night has been great when I want to know the time. I wish I could sleep with my Charge2 ... I would love the auto-tracking sleep feature, and to track my heart rate during the night, but alas, it just feels awkward at night for me.

When my One dies, I'll grab an Alta and a 3rd party clip and continue clipping it to my jammies for sleep tracking (and steps during the day) ... I will get the auto-tracking then, which will be nice. But if my One is still working, I'll wear it until it dies.

The One is not waterproof, and there is no way to make it waterproof that I know of.
