One Availability and Alternatives

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Though Fitbit One is a popular product, as we introduce new products, we occasionally make changes to our product line to keep you on track with the most up-to-date health and fitness tracking tools.

As a result, we no longer sell the One. We recommend considering the other discreet options we offer- Fitbit Zip, if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. Or, take our quiz on http://www.fitbit.com/compare to see which device meets your needs best.

Please note that we will continue to support the One and, if necessary, provide replacements for devices in warranty.

We do know there are many fans of the One who would like to discuss alternatives and have created this thread for discussion and merged a few posts together. Please keep in mind Community Guidelines when posting.

At this time, feedback has been shared on the One status and there are no plans to bring this particular tracker back at this time, we will not be able to comment further.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.

I lost my third Fitbit One 6 months ago.  This is the first time I haven't had a Fitbit in 7 years.  Don't want to wear a watch and the Zip is lacking features and has a poor display.  Big mistake in my opinion and selfishly it bums me out that you discontinued the One.

You can still find them on eBay and a few other places. It's worth paying a little more for the One if you're a longtime Fitbit fan.

$250 is a little steep Thanks.

I didn't realize they'd gone that high. Never mind.

The reason the price is so HIGH is that STUPID FitBit stopped making The ONE, so the GREEDY SLIME BALLS are scalping the few left

That's the American way. Supply (short) and demand (high).

I agree with you. I have told the Fitbit rep the same thing and when my Fitbit dies I will be looking for another alternative outside of Fitbit.

I am very upset that you chose to discontinue Fitbit One.  It was so perfect.  Unfortunately, mine got washed and dried in the washer and dryer and never came back to life even though I put it in rice, hoping it would.  I'd had it a few years. I can't believe it's being discontinued.  PLEASE consider bringing it back!!!

The day I have dreaded arrived. I dropped at an unknown place and it’s gone. My initial reaction was I’m done with Fitbit and really considered other brands. I then decided that I didn’t want to start from scratch with the online storage and tracking data. I purchased an Alta and will be getting an aftermarket clip because I do not like wearing a wrist band. We’ll see how it goes.

Yes, that’s exactly what they want us to do – they are forcing us to accept their inferior product:  One that doesn’t count steps accurately and won’t count stairs at all.  And I, for one, refused to be bullied into accepting something that is NOT what I want, nor will wear.  When my One dies, I am done with FitBit.

I keep wondering why they don’t just upgrade the Alta to have the One’s features & make it either a wrist or clip device so people can choose what they want instead of insisting we all want wrist devices. So stupid of them.

Being sensible and retaining loyal customers don't seem to be concepts they can relate to. Pity.

Hi @ Bill_Cubbage

Sorry to hear that your One is missing. I used Lite Blue successfully to find mine.

Did you buy the  HR Alta?

Would be interested to hear how it works.

Yesterday must have been a bad day for Ones. My went missing somewhere random ax well. I also have a flex2, which I've just managed to convince to start syncing again, but I liked the stair count, and time display.

With risk of being censored or edited by the owners: the ONE will not be back.

I'm a data geek. I plan on doing a more outlined blog post, but here's a quick comparison of some One alternatives ...

I've had my Fitbit torso tracker (the Ulta, then the One) for over eight years. I also started wearing a wrist one, ChargeHR, then Charge2 and find it interesting to compare the data. My son hasn't been wearing his Alta, so I wore it (in a clip) for a bit ... and just to be crazy I've recently been trying out the Garmin Vivofit3 in a clip, and the Motiv ring. Yes ... wearing 5 trackers.

Although the Charge2 is bigger (wider) and more expensive ($149), it's the closest to the One (has floors and such). Currently there isn't a clip for it, although a couple people on this thread have said they've jerry rigged their own holder to tuck into a bra or pocket. The Charge steps were almost always under the One steps (although sometimes it would count more active minutes, I think maybe because of taking HR into consideration). I've enjoyed the auto-recognition (it can usually tell the difference between my elliptical and walking/running, Zumba comes in as "sport") ... I  can't sleep with it on my wrist though. I do love the HR feedback ... during exercise and all day. Love that it notifies me of calls or texts when linked with my phone.

The Alta in a clip is quite close to the One (in size and cost) if you go with the non-HR version. No reason to buy the HR version if you don't plan on wearing on the wrist to catch heart rate. No floors, and no button to scroll through options (you have to tap, which is annoying) and you can't set a timer (something I used on the One). Still has the illuminated display and alarms. On the upside, there is auto-recognition of exercise and sleep, which is nice (not 100% accurate, but you can easily adjust things). I found the Alta counted more steps than the One (within about the same range as the Charge undercounting).

The Garmin VivoFit3 in a clip, is a little wider than the One. Less expensive, 1-year battery (nice for that first year, but I'll admit replacing batteries sometimes intimidate me if it isn't an easy pop-in, pop-out thing). The Garmin came in lower on the step count than the One ... I was trying to compare individual workouts (to see if elliptical, walk, run, Zumba) which was hard, because while the Garmin would count steps for the workout if you started the timer, I had to manually write the number down before I stopped the timer ... the step# does not copy to the app (just the burn estimate, mile estimate). Same with active minutes ... it only tracks them for the week as a whole, so if you wanted to know your minutes for a day or a workout, you'd have to manually note it before and after, and then do math 😉 Has auto-recognition, but that is very limited (just tells the activity and time, no data feedback). Have to "time" the activity to get more detailed data. Can't tell elliptical from walking, but can tell running from walking. It has so many bizarre activity labels ... but no "dance" so I have to label Zumba as "fitness equipment cardio". Steps were generally under the One ... calorie estimates quite a bit lower.

The Motiv is a ring ... a little pricey ($200) and I'm sure some limitations with a wrist worn device also apply to a ring (in a workplace or sports). It IS waterproof (could wear swimming although I haven't tested how it tracks there). Has heart rate. Auto-recognizes activity, although labels most everything walking or running (I have to manually change it for elliptical or dance, also adjusting the time as it usually goes under/over by a bit). No floors again. Does track sleep and active minutes. IOS app only (no computer interface), Android still in beta testing.

Change is hard for me ... figuring out other apps/devices is a learning curve and there is always those "but my Fitbit One did this, why isn't this device/app able to do that?" moments. Sticking with a Fitbit product when that is what you are used to does avoid many (though not all) issues ... granted, other products may have details Fitbit doesn't. Unfortunately, no other company seems to make a device that has everything the One did either.

I never understand companies who discontinue a product I love ... if I love it, doesn't everyone? But it happens. A favorite shoe, lipstick, food, TV program. Somewhere as the company crunches the numbers it makes sense to them to stop production, even if it doesn't to me 😞

Scrapjen, thank you for that very informative post.  You actually made me feel a little better - moments before seeing your post I pressed the button (and bit the bullet) and purchased a Charge 2 to replace my One, which died overnight 😞  It hadn't gotten wet, wasn't dropped... it just quit.  I plan to purchase a fabric holder for the Charge from Etsy so that I may clip it to my bra as I did the One. I may also try squeezing it into the One clip and taping it in place.  Has anybody tried this??

Fitbit did try to help me reboot my One (clean the charging points, reset, etc.) and when that didn't work they gave me a 25% discount toward a new tracker. I know I'll miss my One but life goes on... 🙂

Great analysis.  Have you looked at the Versa?  I would be curious about that option as a replacement for the One

JEH1, I use the live chat method of contact with Fitbit. I've used it several times over the years and had decent responses. When you click on  Help in the menu at the top it is an option.

Good luck!
