One Availability and Alternatives

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Though Fitbit One is a popular product, as we introduce new products, we occasionally make changes to our product line to keep you on track with the most up-to-date health and fitness tracking tools.

As a result, we no longer sell the One. We recommend considering the other discreet options we offer- Fitbit Zip, if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. Or, take our quiz on http://www.fitbit.com/compare to see which device meets your needs best.

Please note that we will continue to support the One and, if necessary, provide replacements for devices in warranty.

We do know there are many fans of the One who would like to discuss alternatives and have created this thread for discussion and merged a few posts together. Please keep in mind Community Guidelines when posting.

At this time, feedback has been shared on the One status and there are no plans to bring this particular tracker back at this time, we will not be able to comment further.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.

Thanks Momice,

@Clipsandstairswrote:

Please bring back the One.  I don’t want a bracelet - I push a stroller.  I want the alarm and the altimeter and the accuracy of the One.  I liked the idea of some of the fashion options offered for the Flex and Alta, but the accuracy is more important to me.  I’m using an old zip until i give on on the One or a comparable tracker being offered, since the unresolved firmware/battery issue makes my One useless.

Fitbit one is also sold at other stores.

Same story - my One survived a few washes but died yesterday in the dryer.

The Zip doesn't cut it and I won't do my wrist.  Some seem satisfied with an Alta in a 3rd party clip housing but I worry about accuracy when it's in my pocket if it isn't specifically designed for that.

This is likely the end of me and Fitbit.

*Salute.*  I loved my One to bits and suggested it to everyone.  It was good times.

Yes, I too wish they would bring it back, but if they haven't reacted yet to the tsunami of requests, they probably won't.  Absolutely wrongheaded business move from my point of view; and it surprises me, because their I've found their customer service to be very responsive. But I don't make their policy.  I may try the Alta in some third party clip on holder if I don't find something I prefer before my One gives out. But I am checking out the options that have been suggested in this thread and am asking around elsewhere; and if I do find something that works for me, I'll be out of here...

I can understand that - as most business but GAFAs - FitBit has limited resources and needed to define its strategic choices. As "fans of FitBit One" we obviously would have taken a different option.

What could be the way forward now? Well based in the huge feedback of the One nostalgic like me in this forum, I think there is a great opportunity for FitBit to say "we have heard you" and do big marketing campaign for a One Revival (or for a Two package bundling two Ones just in case you would loose/wash 'one' :)) And maybe FitBit could launch a crowdfunding for financing this in order to 'secure' that they would be sufficiently orders (eg people ready to fund the product revival would get a complementary pack). I am sure the story would be very positive for FitBit and would go to the specialized press.

Yep, I'm gone. If I am forced to wear my tracker on my wrist, it will be something that replaces my current watch, not a tracker-only. It will keep/display time, track steps, detect altitude changes, and [ who knows what else ]. Unfortunately, that does not describe any current Fitbit product.

Tried to vote for your suggestion but it will not accept vite

The problem I have with the way Fitbit has "defined their strategic choices" is that they're like a pet food manufacturer who has chosen to only make canned food.  Or, it's as if Starbucks chose to quit selling tea, saying they preferred to focus on coffee only.  Or a Girl Scout who only sold Thin Mints.

In all of those examples, a substantial portion of the customer base is being ignored.

No wonder they have limited resources - they're not fully tapping into the market that's clearly out there for a non-wrist tracker.  And they're almost 100% ignoring the market for accessories.

It's clear they don't care about customers who can't or won't wear something on their wrist.  But, given what I've read/heard about the company itself, there won't be a company to care about any of their customers before too long.  Looks like they're in financial difficulties, and will either go out of business or be bought out by another company.

Great positive suggestions! Let's hope the powers that be at Fitbit are listening...

I had started to reply to this, then my text disappeared, so I gonna try and duplicate it here: I think the marketing strategies I've just read are spot on, and I hope Fitbit hears and considers them. I would certainly contribute to a crowdfunding campaign to bring back a version of my favorite tracker and I don't doubt that others would too.  Speaking for myself, after a career in academia during which I was a total couch potato, I now consider myself a "reconstructed couch potato,"  And to a large extent, the credit for that life change goes to the addictive little gadget with its funny motivational messages and goofy badges that is the One, plus the welcoming, helpful response of the people I've dealt with whenever I needed help using it. I think the abrupt shift in attitude of the company (as evidenced by their non-response to our massive reaction) explains why I'm so thrown by their apparent decision to ignore us: I feel kind of turned on and abandoned.

Hello Weezee,

I wonder how we get the company to reconsider. The forums haven’t worked so far. I am not fluent with social media. Does anyone know?

Also, my Fitbit One is working fine . What is the firmware you are referring to that broke yours?

and finally..Did you find another store that dog the One at market value? The eBay Ones I bid on went for $150 plus.

Thanks

Hello. I've contacted Fitbit via Twitter and their response is identical to the forums--which is avoiding the "why" except to say something that pushes their newest products, so basically useless.

If they said why, I'd understand more. Maybe they find it was completely inaccurate. Or maybe the Fitbit ONe didn't earn the profit margin they liked. Maybe they got sued for that skin rash thing some people experienced. Maybe it outshown all their other products. Some logical explanation would go a long way.

I know because of this, when my Fitbit One dies (oh and I picked one up from eBay for $65 for the future...I've just kept an eye out on eBay, Craigslist, letgo), but when it dies I am not going to shop FitBit again (unless the One is back). And I am not updating my Fitbit as they've been reminding me to--I sense they want to kill the One via the firmware.

Hi,

Wish I could help you, but you’re attributing to me things I didn’t say, so you must be confusing me with someone else. Sorry....

FYI
I just found another one on eBay for 146 and free shipping. They have nine more listed at the same price.
Good luck!

I've purchased a spare Fitbit One on eBay to get me by should my current One fizzle.. My question is this... Why are you folks so adamant about keeping all of these wrist trackers?? I work in a greenhouse when I'm not going to nursing school, and a gal that I work with has a Fitbit wrist tracker that logs her "steps" for every tomato and pepper that she plants. I don't think it's fair that she gets 3-5k more "steps" than me when she's literally shoving plants in the dirt. The Zip is **ahem**e; at least offer a clip-on tracker that tracks floors, miles, etc...

Best Answer

That is so stupid. None of your other trackers do everything that the one does. Not a single one will do floors, calories burned and steps. Not one, but only One! I guess it's time for me to move one to another company.

Best Answer

Please reconsider bringing back One. I, like others do not want to wear one on my wrist. One gave me everything I needed and was rechargeable. At the very least you should keep a model like One available for customers like us. If you were to discontinue any model, consider Zip. I will now seek another version like One from another source.
