Fitbit Update: 8/14
Hey all!
Today we have completely released (out to 100%) this new Charge 2 firmware (22.58.0) to all users. This means everyone should now see it available for download in the Fitbit app. Please update to this new firmware. For instructions on how to complete the update, read How do I update my Fitbit device?
If you come across any difficulty updating, read Why can't I update my Fitbit device?
We've included bug fixes and improvements in this new firmware and always recommend having your tracker up to date, including the Fitbit app on the latest app version.
Fitbit Update: 7/24
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce a new firmware update for Charge 2 (version: 22.58.0).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Charge 2 can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Charge 2, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

Unfortunately didn't do the trick. I know it makes no difference. But all my hard work done today was a waste (information wise to look back on)

Wish I had that. I can't even download the app now.

I have the same problem. Did you find a solution?

No been trying all day off and on. Only thing I can think of is to factory reset my phone. But reading the complaints I'm not sure it's worth the hassle of putting my other stuff back on.

The annoying thing is. It's helped me hell of a lot the past 7 weeks I've started using it properly ie food intake, exercise, sleep. It's been really interesting to see. But from what I've been reading it's the same responses in all posts. It's as if they don't care?

I talked to customer service twice and they said they would escalate my complaint but I have heard nothing at all! 🙄

This is just a community forum. You must contact fitbit if you have actual questions

@CathieR, sadly you have to keep on badgering customer support to get any action.
Although moderators can help to get a case started with support can't they @AlessFitbit and @RicardoFitbit?
How about giving @CathieR a hand with customer support please.

I wonder if this has contributed to the many messages I read in a different thread with the Charge 2 just stopping working completely!

Yes. There are several boards with similar topics.

@Profiam, the problem with the actual charge 2 trackers not turning on, deteriorating battery life etc. was the result of the firmware update to 22.58. This bricked the trackers in many cases.
The synching problems and failure of notifications, weird and wonderful things with what is displayed on your phone is generally due to the app updates. I assume as these are probably for the benefit of the newer fitbits and the new display aimed at selling premium subscriptions we owners of discontinued equipment are now being ignored.
Fitbit zip and one users have be having problems, now we too are victims of fitbit's enforced obsolescence. I must admit a certain sense of schadenfreude now that charge 3 and versa users are being hit by fitbit's failure to keep up with the android system. Fitbit are still trying to get to grips with android 9 while 10 is rolling out.
I haven't risked the firmware update and my old android phone can't update past 3.4.1 so I am getting past caring on my own behalf but it doesn't stop me being righteously furious about the way fitbit is treating the rest of its customers.

But how am supposed to 5alk about my progress if I can get the fitbit app to download to my phone?

This is kind of where I am going with all of this. My first concern is whether or not Fitbit did their due diligence in rolling out firmware updates that wiped out existing Charge 2 trackers (and maybe more). Or did they do it on purpose to force future purchases. I would hope not. How many folks thought their Charge 2's just died because they had run their course and went out and bought new Charge 3's without checking these forums first?
It’s funny, (not really) that I was reprimanded by a moderator a couple days ago for posting twice in a row but no one has contacted me regarding their firmware update wiping out my Charge 2.
My options now – buy another Fitbit (probably not), contact the BBB, place a comment on Google Play (already did), post in every forum and Tech page I can find selling Fitbits i.e. Amazon…
Our only response from Fitbit is they are working on it and be patient. See below:

Hey all!
We're still investigating and working on a fix for this text notification issue on Android.
In addition to not receiving the correct text notification, we're now aware this is also affecting call notifications. Some of you may only see a previous caller's name and not the person actually calling you at the time you're receiving the notification.
When we have more information for a fix, we'll announce it here in this thread. Please stay tuned for updates!

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and personal experience, I totally understand how frustrating this matter can be for each of you and I apologize for that. As per previously mentioned, we are aware of this specific inconvenience which is affecting some Android devices and working to resolve it as soon as possible.
Rest assured, we are always striving to improve the Fitbit experience with our products and services, therefore, my best advice for you guys will be to keep your Fitbit app, Android mobile device operating system and Fitbit devices up to date.
Don't hesitate to contact me back if you have any additional questions. Your understanding and patience are appreciated.

Or, their advice to continue (see below):
It's always recommendable to update your devices, not doing it, can lead to situations, e.g. difficulties to sync, not receive notifications, or the device not working properly.
Seriously, Isn’t this what got us into this mess in the first place. How about recommending we not update our devices until Fitbit finds out what happened with 22.22.58, fixes it, tests it and rolls out the tested and pasted update?

@K-Mac, I noticed that neither of those info updates from the moderators actually addressed the firmware update, only the app updates. That says it all really.
