Fitbit Update: 8/14
Hey all!
Today we have completely released (out to 100%) this new Charge 2 firmware (22.58.0) to all users. This means everyone should now see it available for download in the Fitbit app. Please update to this new firmware. For instructions on how to complete the update, read How do I update my Fitbit device?
If you come across any difficulty updating, read Why can't I update my Fitbit device?
We've included bug fixes and improvements in this new firmware and always recommend having your tracker up to date, including the Fitbit app on the latest app version.
Fitbit Update: 7/24
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce a new firmware update for Charge 2 (version: 22.58.0).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Charge 2 can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Charge 2, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

I found a solution for the problems with pairing. At least it worked for me.
I paired my Charge 2 with my previous phone, a Oneplus 3, and everything worked fine. Then I tried to pair it with my current phone, a Xiaomi Mi9 wich I wasn't able to pair from last wekk, and the phone detected my device with no problem at all.
What I have found is that the band hasn't record any sleep cycle or exercise since September 13.
So if you have and older phone, try to pair the band to it and then try on your current phone.

I just read that in my newsfeed. It looks like the firmware updates are impacting more than just the Charge 2. People are complaining their Charge 3 and Versas are bricked. Personally, I'd really hate to be working for Fitbit's IT department right now.
As for me, my Charge 2 never updated because it could no longer connect to my phone or computer. Thankfully it was still under warranty, so they are sending me a replacement. It's coming this week. I guess we'll see what happens next.

I've had my fitbit charge 2 for well over a year and has been working great for me. Over the past month or 2 I've noticed that with each text message that I get it only displays the name and not the actual message anymore. Also when I've been receiving calls it will only show one(incorrect) phone number even if it's my mother or friend calling. I've even got calls from businesses that show up as my mother calling as the caller ID on my fitbit when obviously its not. Recent calls from my mother who has a 515 number comes through my charge 2 as a 816 number. I'm not sure what's been going on with this but I haven't had any problems with my charge 2 until recently where is seems nothing with caller ID, texts, phone numbers are correct and can even be remotely trustworthy. Would like to know how this is going to be getting fixed and if you guys are aware of a problem in the first place.
My current phone is Samsung S9...
Thanks,
CJ Schulz II

@SchulzII, I think if you have a look through the various threads in the android app forum you'll see that this is a widespread problem caused by a fault with the app when fitbit started all these app updates.
This can be resolved by going to other sites and downloading an older version of the app. 2.95 seems popular.

In version 2.95 seems like everything works. I'm sticking with it for now.

The first thing that went on mine was the HR monitor. Every else worked but over the course of weeks I noticed my steps were off, my sleep stats were messed up and then one morning I woke up and the face was locked on 10:40 and would not change. I even rebooted it and that won’t even work. Browsing other trackers. Loved my Charge 2 but I’ll never buy another Fitbit.

My Fitbit is now entirely DE-ceased. It won't even recognize being plugged into the USB to charge so there is no going back to 2.95. I have to either wait for Fitbit to address this with me or look at a competitor.
Okay, I was officially reprimanded by the moderator for posting twice in a row in the same forum. I was told to click on the three buttons and edit my first post. I should have paid more attention to the Community Guidelines. What was removed from this forum as a result of the double posting is the following:
"Thanks. Did they reach out to you based on your posts in this forum or did you did more?
My Fitbit was fine until this firmware update and my S10e purchase. I had nothing but good things to say about it and Fitbit but I am a stickler on good and quick customer service. It supersedes any product I am buying. I will go to a lessor product if necessary if their service and support is superior. I've done this several times with modem and router providers."

For the entertainment of the legion of Charge 2 owners with bricked devices on this thread I submit the following. I also have an Ionic and they just pushed a firmware update and guess what? It's bricking Ionics as well. On the thread for the Ionic community this afternoon JuanFitbit(Moderator) posted this in response to the growing list of complaints after addressing some owner's specifically:
It's always recommendable to update your devices, not doing it, can lead to situations, e.g. difficulties to sync, not receive notifications, or the device not working properly.
Now why would anyone in their right mind blindly download a firmware update to their Fitbit device after all of this recent dysfunction? I've not downloaded the firmware for my Charge 2 or Ionic and both devices work just fine. I'm really not sure what the company is doing but suffice it to say until proven otherwise avoid any firmware or app updates.

I see what he is saying. If your device works, you want to make sure it works because if you do not update it, it runs the risk of having problems which you would not want. So instead, assume that the hundreds of users out there who are having problems with the update are all wrong and update your device - which will guarantee it will not work and then you will have to buy another one from us.
Now how could anyone get the wrong idea from that?

My Charge 2 seems to still be working OK, I am less impressed with the changes to the Android app. Esp. when I look at the steps score on the home screen if you have exceeded what you should have doen - all that constant refreshing and colour changing and stars and excitement is just a nuisance and a distraction. Can't they provide some sort of user control to turn off such things.

Wish I read this earlier. I was having problems but decided to uninstall. Big mistake. So I've gone from having trouble syncing to having error occurred please try again. I've been trying to sort this out all day.

@iltsbawp, I know this sounds daft, but have you tried turning your phone totally off after the uninstall, give it a minute or two then turn on and try installing again. If it then does install turn the phone off and on again as before. For some reason it often works better than a restart for settling stuff in. If it doesn't help it should not do any harm. Cheers.

Thought I'd share with the group what I received today. I wrote a less than favorable response to a survey I received concerning the Fitbit App. Part of the response of the developer is that, with the new dashboard, users will not be able to revert to a prior update version.
We wanted to let you know the developer of the Android app Fitbit, has replied to the Google Play review you wrote for it on Sep 18, 2019.

Worse app update in years. Fitbit community forums have over a hundred pages of complaints. Missing texts, missing notifications, batteries which held 5 days of charge draining in a day or hours. Fitbit is doing nothing about it so far. Watch out for 22.22.58.0 firmware update. It messed a ton of Android based Fitbits.
Developer response:
Hello Yatsishome - Sorry to hear. We are always looking for ways to better our app, and your feedback is an invaluable part of that process. The new Dashboard is fully implemented and users will no longer have the option to revert. To know more, see https://bit.ly/2IYVUq9. Need further help? Reach us at contact.fitbit.com. ~Fitbit Support
